V12 is a masterpiece! BMW will discontinue the limited number of 12 M760i xDrives after launching them

Under the pressure of global electrification and emission reduction, many traditional car companies have had to abandon large-displacement models, after Audi stopped production of W12 engines. This time it is finally BMW's turn, and bmw recently announced that it will launch the last 12 M760i xDrive sedans with V12 engines in June this year, and will stop producing 12-cylinder large-displacement engines!

In this way, only the V12 engine on the Maybach S680 is left in the BBA's top three, and Mercedes-Benz also plans to stop the internal combustion engine in 2030 if market conditions permit, and it is not known how long this V12 can last.

The M760 xDrive sedan is priced at about 1.27 million yuan in the United States, while the corresponding model in the domestic market is the extended version of the M760Li xDrive, due to tariffs and other factors, the car is priced at 2.428 million yuan in China and 2.612 million yuan in the Yaoying version. Whether BMW will launch a final sales version for the Chinese market is currently unknown.

According to foreign media reports, the limited edition of 12 M760i xDrive has many unique elements, such as 20-inch wheels, vehicle sills, engines with the "Final V12" logo, and black or blue M Sport brake calipers, and more than 80 exterior colors to choose from. In the interior section, the "1 OF 12" limited edition representation is engraved on the piano black panel to show identity, while the MERINO leather interior is also optional with BMW personalization.

The power section, the 6.6T V12 engine, code-named N74, can burst out a maximum horsepower of 601 horses, matching the 8AT hand automatic transmission, and can complete the acceleration of 0-96 km/h in 3.6 seconds.

The N74 engine was only upgraded once in 2016, and now it has not been upgraded again in the past six years due to emissions, the maximum power has been reduced to 601 horsepower, and the maximum power speed range has been lowered from the original 5500-6500 rpm to 5250-5750 rpm.

When the automotive industry has undergone transformation, obsolete technologies will inevitably be eliminated, and the European Union has planned to realize the Euro 7 emission standards in 2025, which will undoubtedly further compress the existence of performance vehicles. But one thing that fans of internal combustion engines are excited about is that BMW's director of research and development Frank Weber previously accepted the German automotive magazine Automoto & Sport to emphasize that new advanced engines are still needed, and we have found a compromise between emission regulations and performance. We will continue to develop the next generation of gasoline, diesel, 6- and 8-cylinder engines!
