If Panasonic's previous models are more concerned with the needs of professional users, then the S9 not only retains some features that only professional models have, such as the aforementioned 4:3 aspect ratio output, but also takes into account the needs of ordinary users - LUT buttons.

The LUT button is not just a button, it also has a new APP behind it - LUMIX lab, on this APP, it can integrate the LUTs made by S9 users around the world for the camera, users only need to click on the screen, they can download various styles of LUTs and import them to the camera, from then on "copying homework" has become very simple.

And Panasonic didn't compromise the S9's video capabilities just because it was an entry-level full-frame camera, and the real-time cropping feature, which is very useful for vlogging, was retained. Pushing, pulling, panning is the most commonly used way to shoot videos, but to get a smooth moving picture, you often need the assistance of various accessories such as tripods and fluid heads. But with the real-time crop feature, users can easily shoot moving shots.

Real-time cropping is an in-camera shooting function, the highest image quality is 4K/30P, shooting by horizontal, vertical or even two directions at the same time, to simulate the lens movement, the user can stand still to shoot a panning lens, while shooting, the AF system will continue to work, keep focus. In addition, the real-time crop function can be set to 10 seconds to 40 seconds to control the speed of the camera, and it can also be moved at an even speed or in an accelerated manner, so it can combine a lot of camera movements.

What's more, S9 is a full-frame camera, which can output 4K/30P video in APS-C format during real-time cropping, and the image quality is quite guaranteed, and with LUMIX 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 lens, multiplied by 1.5X transfer coefficient, there is still a 30-90mm angle of view, which will not feel too narrow, and the excellent body five-axis image stabilization makes handheld shooting possible.

If you want to complete Vlog shooting with a single camera, excellent AF function and portrait recognition function are indispensable, otherwise the focus will fly when you frequently switch focus targets - for example, when eating and broadcasting, although the focus is switched between people and food, how does the S9 do this? It can be said that the S9 completely inherits the in-camera recording capability of the S5M2, and it is also the first to support LUMIX lab, which is convenient for users to copy homework. However, in order to maintain the gap with the S5M2 and protect the investment of S5M2 users, Panasonic has made some restrictions on the S9 in-camera recording - 6K video recording time is 10 minutes, and 4K video recording time is 15 minutes.

Can I take pictures?

In order to control the weight of the body, the LUMIX S9 not only discarded the EVF electronic viewfinder, but also cut the mechanical shutter to become a pure electronic shutter machine, which inevitably makes people worry about its photo performance. We know that in a purely electronic shutter, the jelly effect depends on the CMOS sensor reading speed, the faster the reading speed, the smaller the image distortion, and when the sensor reads at the level of a mechanical shutter or when using global shutter technology, the mechanical shutter can be completely discarded. The S9's inability to output 4K60P at full frame shows that the sensor read speed is limited, but perhaps Panasonic set the S9's ADC to 12-bit to increase the output, so there is no serious jello effect when shooting small windmills at medium speeds. Maybe the S9 is not up to the task of birding, sports shooting, etc., but everyday shooting is also available.

In addition to the jelly effect being better than expected, Panasonic did not limit the S9's photo capabilities - AF-C and with live view, the continuous shooting speed is 8FPS, supports 30FPS+AF-C high-speed continuous shooting, and the 30FPS pre-shooting function. At the same time, S9 supports rocker shooting, which can be used to take multiple photos in a row and the body stabilization function, and output 96MP or 48M high-pixel photos in the camera, this function also supports handheld shooting, which greatly increases the use value.

Last but not least, the LUMIX 26mm F8 lens only supports manual focus, and the aperture is only F8, but Panasonic has not given up on the pursuit of image quality, and it has no noticeable vignetting in straight shots, and edge quality is also available. However, it is best to click on the screen and zoom in on the focus point to focus, which can better ensure that the photo is in focus.
