BMW announced that it will officially discontinue the V-type 12-cylinder engine for passenger cars in June 2022. BMW's first production V-12-cylinder engine was the 5.0-litre M70 engine introduced in 1987. The SOHC-set engine featured a 2-valve per cylinder setting and was equipped with an innovative electronic throttle at the time, with a maximum output of 295 horsepower, making the 750iL a benchmark for flagship models at the time and an indiscriminate competition for multi-cylinder flagship models of luxury brands.
Today, the M760i xDrive Final Limited Edition features a 6.6-liter V12 twin-turbo engine and incorporates BMW M TwinPower Turbo, Double VANOS and Valvetronic technologies to deliver 601 hp and accelerate 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds.
The M760i xDrive Final Edition will differentiate it from the regular 7 Series with its distinctive V12 badge, 20-inch rim, and M Sport braking system. The interior is surrounded by the exclusive sill of "The Final V12" with central trim and black lacquer for pianos provided by BMW Individual. The features are available in a single fully equipped model, including leather seats in the BMW Individual Full Merino in optional colours, sky lounge panoramic electric glass sunroofs, Bowers & Wilkins sound systems and assisted suites such as remote parking.
What makes the M760i xDrive final limited edition owner more honorable, in addition to the "1 of 12" word in the car, after delivery, BMW will also attach an exclusive commemorative trophy, which records the limited car color, interior leather selection and vehicle number of the car, highlighting the unique and distinguished identity of the final limited edition.
However, not only can you get the M760i xDrive final limited edition with money, in order to thank the owners for their support, the 12 cars will be preferentially offered to the owners of the V12 7 Series in the United States; and the price part is also quite a considerable 200,000 US dollars (about 1.25 million yuan), which is much higher than the current base price of 157,800 US dollars (about 1 million yuan).
As early as 2020, BMW has announced that the new generation of 7 Series will have a pure electric version, and named it the rumored i7. Regarding the layout of the electric drive of the i7, foreign media have speculated that it will use a large battery pack of 120 kWh to provide a one-way endurance of about 700 kilometers. In addition, BMW is also likely to launch a high-performance version of the 3-motor configuration, giving it a maximum horsepower output of 750 horses, which not only outperforms the current M760Li xDrive, but also competes with the mercedes-AMG EQS production version, the new generation of pure electric Jaguar XJ.
