Beijing, January 20 (Xinhua) -- The 2022 ASC World Supercomputer Competition for College Students (ASC22) was launched simultaneously in Beijing, Hefei and online. More than 300 teams from around the world have registered to participate, and the teams that passed the preliminary round will participate in the finals held at the University of Science and Technology of China from May 7 to 11.

According to reports, ASC22 adopts the format of "preliminary round + final", and the competition topic focuses on the integration of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence. In the preliminary stage from January 5 to March 4, the participating college student teams need to complete two challenging cutting-edge application competitions, namely the "source" AI language model and the REPRESENTATIVE AI+Science software DeepPMD-kit, which will be a huge test for the team's supercomputing application and innovation ability.

The finalists will compete in application questions such as benchmarking, high-performance computing and artificial intelligence, and participate in english defenses, competing for the first runner-up, the e Prize Computing Challenge Award, the Highest Computing Performance Award and many other awards.

Wang Endong, the initiator of the ASC competition and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that since the ASC competition was held for 10 years, the mode of "promoting learning with competitions and meeting friends with races" has achieved remarkable results, and many students have increased their understanding of supercomputing through competitions, and after graduation, they have devoted themselves to the front line of supercomputing research and application, becoming the "supersumembering force" of the new generation.

THE ASC World Supercomputer Competition for College Students is a supercomputer competition for college students initiated by China, which aims to promote the exchange and cultivation of young supercomputing talents between countries and regions, improve the application level and research and development capabilities of supercomputing, and promote scientific and technological and industrial innovation.
