In August last year, the Provincial Song and Ballet School was merged into the Provincial Art School. Development encountered obstacles, and the "regiment lieutenant colonel" found a way in the integration
The former Provincial Song and Ballet School was established in 2009 with the approval of the Haikou Municipal Education Bureau to solve the shortage of talents in the Provincial Song and Dance Troupe. A number of fine works created and arranged by the Provincial Song and Dance Troupe in recent years, such as "The Story of the Li Nationality", "Zodiac Po", "Dongpo Hainan", etc., are inseparable from the strong guarantee of the students of the Provincial Song and Ballet School. In the mode of promoting exercise and combining regiment and school, it has provided a steady stream of talent support for the creation of stage fine products in Hainan.
However, in recent years, problems such as insufficient funds for running schools and limited conditions for running schools have plagued the development of provincial song and ballet schools. In 2020, the provincial song and dance troupe proposed the idea of "turning the school into a public secondary school".
The provincial party committee and the provincial government attach great importance to the development of the provincial song and ballet school, and have repeatedly issued instructions and conducted special research. All relevant units responded positively and made every effort to promote it.
After investigation, the education department found that due to objective reasons such as the conditions for running the provincial song and ballet school, coupled with the complexity of institutional setup and establishment, it is not realistic for the school to directly turn into a public office.
In the face of difficult problems and blockages, under the overall coordination of the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, all departments have changed their thinking and taken the initiative to plan. The Provincial Department of Education repeatedly communicated with relevant departments, formed a relevant plan, and after deliberation at the special meeting of the provincial government, decided to hang the "Hainan Provincial Ballet School" sign in the Provincial Art School under the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Department and open a ballet major; to ensure that the students of the Provincial Song and Ballet School continue to study in the same grade and the classmate system of the Provincial Art School Ballet Major, and the Provincial Song Ballet School will stop the enrollment work from 2021. Subsequently, the Provincial Department of Tourism and Culture coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee Organization Office, the Provincial Department of Finance and other departments to formulate relevant work implementation plans.
What about the teachers recruited by the Provincial Song and Ballet School Society? This has become a real problem that needs to be solved urgently. Not only to arrange these teachers, but also to ensure the coherence of students' learning in professional courses, for this consideration, the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee made a proposal - the flexible mechanism of "regiment hiring schools", that is, the provincial song and dance troupe signed a cooperation agreement with the provincial art school, and the professional teachers were still hired by the provincial song and dance troupe for use by the provincial art school. "Group employment school use" not only solves the problems encountered during the integration transition period, but more importantly, the high-quality resources of the Provincial Song and Ballet School in professional courses and the standardized management of the provincial art school in the teaching of cultural classes complement each other.
The provincial art school immediately began to contact the provincial and municipal education departments with the transfer of all students of the ballet and dance school. "We prepare in advance to welcome new students, create conditions, and meet the learning and living needs of new students through the renovation of the dormitory piano room and the allocation of classroom resources on campus." Wang Hong, vice principal of Hainan Provincial Culture and Art School (Hainan Provincial Ballet and Dance School), introduced that in order to do a good job in guaranteeing the 197 students after entering the school, the teachers of the school gave up their summer vacation rest time and made every effort to solve relevant matters.
With the joint efforts of all parties, in August last year, all 197 students of the Provincial Song and Ballet School were transferred to the Provincial Art School, and 28 professional teachers also entered the Provincial Art School to teach ballet.
Students praised "better conditions, closer ideals"

"Whereas a dozen people used to live in one room, now they live in a standard six-room student dormitory. Su Yezhe, a 2018 ballet student from Wanning, said that he cherishes the current learning environment and will study hard and strive to be admitted to the ideal university.
Wang Yipeng, 16, has loved dancing since childhood, and he won a gold medal in the AEDC Asian Dance Elite Competition. Long before entering the Provincial Song and Ballet School, he planted the seeds of the Beijing Dance Academy in his heart. During his 3 years of studying at the Provincial Song and Ballet School, he seemed to be tied up in a small courtyard of only 4 acres of land, "My cultural class results are a bit difficult!" "Wang Yipeng said that what he did not expect was that in August last year, he suddenly became a student of the provincial art school." The curriculum here is more abundant, we have enough time every day to study cultural lessons, and the teachers are also very good and always patiently guide us. He said that in such an environment, the seeds of his dreams began to sprout, and the dream of entering the Beijing Dance Academy became clearer and firmer.
"The school has more than 200 square meters of dance classrooms, which are more spacious and bright, and we no longer have to squeeze together when practicing dance!" Xing Zengzhi, a 2018 ballet student, dreams of entering the ballet company and becoming a professional dancer, tiptoeing up his ideals in life.
During the reporter's interview, the students praised the new life of coming to the provincial art school and had a clearer plan for future learning and development. Hard training and hard work are their common determinations; using the language of ballet to interpret Chinese charm and show the charm of Hainan is their common ideal!

Zhao Ziyi, a ballet teacher at the Hainan Provincial Culture and Art School (Hainan Provincial Ballet School), came to Hainan four years ago after graduating from the Beijing Dance Academy and entered the Provincial Song and Ballet School to teach. "Being able to integrate into the provincial art school and let students learn in a better environment is the care of the provincial party committee and the provincial government." The school has also created very good conditions for us. Zhao Ziyi said that he will continue to do a good job in ballet teaching, cultivate more ballet professionals for Hainan, and contribute to the construction of the free trade port.
Complementary advantages, in-depth cooperation to improve the level
The integration of the two schools has expanded the professional categories of dance disciplines in the provincial art school; and the strong combination will better contribute to the continuous provision of reserve artistic talents for the Hainan Academy of Arts and Arts.
"The school will further increase the cooperation between schools and enterprises, sign cooperation agreements with domestic art academies such as the Provincial Song and Dance Troupe, cooperate in dance, music, instrumental music and film and television performances and other characteristic disciplines, share teaching and performance resources, strengthen the in-depth combination of theory and practice, and improve the overall level of running schools and running troupes." Wang Hong said that the school will base itself on the essence of Hainan culture, condense local characteristics, cultivate local temperament, and work with the provincial song and dance troupe to create artistic performance professionals who need to build the Hainan Free Trade Port and develop morally, intellectually, physically, aesthetically, and labor in an all-round way.
Ding Weidong said that the Provincial Song and Dance Troupe will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Provincial Art School, provide students with opportunities and stages for exercise by creating high-quality plays and various performances, and strengthen in-depth cooperation to jointly create a high-end ballet dance major in Hainan. He revealed that this year, the provincial song and dance troupe plans to create a dance drama with realistic themes, rehearsals have not yet begun, and the provincial song and dance troupe has already locked its eyes on the provincial art school when selecting actors. "We plan to use not only ballet students, but also students from other majors." Ding Weidong said.
Walking on the campus of the Provincial Art School, the new Art and Library Building has been basically completed and will soon be put into use. The construction of the school's music and dance building and the cultural class teaching building has also been put on the agenda and is being submitted for approval. "We will take the opportunity of integration to accelerate the construction of school buildings, set up ballet teaching and research departments, expand the scale, and continuously improve the quality and level of running schools." Wang Hong said that the school will deepen the connotative development and promote the cause of hainan culture and art education to a higher and deeper level.
