Princess Gulun Duanmin: The longest-lived princess of the Qing Dynasty, kangxi hated, but was crowned Princess Gulun by Yongzheng

In the history of the Qing Dynasty, there were more than eighty princesses, most of whom did not live long, and those who could live to the age of 60 were rare, let alone live to the age of seventy or eighty. However, it is unexpected that there were two of the longest-lived princesses of the Qing Dynasty, both of whom lived to be 77 years old, and coincidentally, neither of them was the emperor's biological daughter, but the emperor's adopted daughter, one was the shunzhi emperor's adopted daughter Princess Gulun Duanmin, and the other was the yongzheng Emperor's adopted daughter and Princess Shuo Shushen.

Today we are going to talk about Princess Gulun Duanmin.

Princess Gulun Duanmin: The longest-lived princess of the Qing Dynasty, kangxi hated, but was crowned Princess Gulun by Yongzheng

Miss Qianjin from the Iron Hat Palace

On June 13, 1653, the tenth year of Shunzhi (1653), Princess Gulun Duanmin was born in prince Zheng's mansion in Damucang Hutong, outside the Chaoyang Gate of Beijing, the son of Ji Du, the second son of Prince Zheng, and his mother was Ji Du Fu Jin Borjigit.

Shortly after the birth of Princess Gulun Duanmin, the news of an explosion broke in the Forbidden City, and the Shunzhi Emperor deposed the Empress Borjigit of the Middle Palace. In the past few years, two more events occurred in the palace, first of all, tong Jiashi, a concubine of the Shunzhi Emperor's side, gave birth to a young prince in jingren Palace, named Xuan Ye, who later became the famous Kangxi Emperor, and then the Shunzhi Emperor made a woman from the Mongolian Horqin Department empress, and this empress was Empress Xiaohuizhang.

In fact, this Gulun Duanmin Princess was related to Empress Xiaohuizhang, and it turned out that Princess Gulun Duanmin's mother, Borjigit, was the sister of Empress Xiaohuizhang, that is to say, Empress Xiaohuizhang was the aunt of Princess Gulun Duanmin. And, it doesn't take long for them to add another layer of relationship to each other.

It is said that the Shunzhi Emperor was devoted to favoring Concubine Dong and did not care at all about the empress xiaohuizhang who succeeded him, so it was impossible for empress xiaohuizhang to give birth to children, and moreover, the shunzhi emperor had thin heirs, and most of the daughters born died early. As a result, Shunzhi took princess Gulun Duanmin, the second daughter of his cousin Prince Jidu of Jian, to the palace and was personally raised by Empress Xiaohuizhang, so Empress Xiaohuizhang became the adoptive mother of Princess Gulun Duanmin.

Of course, Princess Gulun Duanmin's entry into the palace has a lot to do with her noble origin, but another consideration of Shunzhi is to make plans for the Marriage of Manchuria and Mongolia.

Princess Daqing of the Horqin Department

It is said that in the year when Princess Gulun Duanmin was seven years old (the sixteenth year of Shunzhi), a group of princes from the Mongolian Horqin Department entered the capital to meet the emperor, and in this meeting of the senior leaders of Manchuria and Mongolia, the marriage of Princess Gulun Duanmin was betrothed, and she was going to marry the eldest grandson of the first generation of Horqin's Prince Dalkhan, Manzhu Xili.

In fact, this is a marriage of relatives and relatives, Princess Gulun Duanmin on this side is Chahan - Naoerji - Borjigit clan (mother of Princess Gulun Duanmin) - Princess Gulun Duanmin, Bandi is Manzhu Xili - and Ta - Bandi, Chahan and Manzhu Xili are brothers of Empress Xiaozhuang, from the perspective of generations, Gulun Duanmin's mother and Bandi are cousins, that is to say, Princess Gulun Duanmin is married to her uncle.

However, the Manchu and Mongolian society at that time did not care about this kind of intergenerational marriage, which was a very common phenomenon.

In the blink of an eye, in the ninth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, Princess Gulun Duanmin at this time was already an 18-year-old girl, but in this decade, Princess Gulun Duanmin lost her father Jidu and her mother Borjigit clan one after another.

What made her even more sad was that in the year of the ninth year of kangxi, her brother Desai, who was only 17 years old and a mother's compatriot, also died of illness, and Princess Gulun Duanmin's mother only gave birth to two daughters, one was Princess Gulun Duanmin, and the other was Desai, so in the heart of Princess Gulun Duanmin, only Desai was her brother and sister, and the children born to her father Fu jin and Shu Fujin were not worth mentioning at all.

However, heaven prefers to create people, after the death of Desai, Prince Jian fell on the head of Princess Gulun Duanmin's half-brother Rabu, although Princess Gulun Duanmin was extremely reluctant, but helpless, it was also in this year that Princess Gulun Duanmin left the imperial palace where she had lived for more than ten years and married into the Mongolian Horqin Department.

Sister who was disgusted by the Kangxi Emperor

In terms of personality, Princess Gulun Duanmin belongs to the kind of brutal and willful, and even a little unreasonable, of course, this also has a lot to do with her noble origin. His father, JiDu, was the King of the Great Qing Iron Hat, his mother was Consort Fujin, his adoptive mother was still the Empress of the Great Qing Dynasty, and Princess Gulun Duanmin, who grew up in the court, was not arrogant but strange.

Therefore, since Princess Gulun Duanmin married into the Horqin Ministry, she seemed to have become the head of the Horqin Left Wing Banner, even if her husband Bandi was the new Prince of Darhan, she did not hesitate to let go, she was still arrogant, and even the affairs of the mother's family had to intervene.

It is said that in the twentieth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, Prince Jian Died, and then Yabu, the younger brother of One of Labu's mother's compatriots, succeeded to the throne, but this made Princess Gulun Duanmin very dissatisfied. Labu and Yabu are both born of the Jidu Shufu Jinhang clan, from the perspective of family status, how can the sons born of these concubines be compared with the children of the main chamber, this feeling is somewhat similar to letting the children of the subordinates ride on their heads, Princess Gulun Duanmin is of course unhappy, but there is nothing to do about it.

Therefore, from the perspective of relationship, the sisters and brothers of Princess Gulun Duanmin and the new Prince Jane Jabu can be said to be very discordant.

Of course, there was another person who hated Princess Gulun Duanmin, who was the Kangxi Emperor, the lord of the Qing Dynasty. In the thirty-first year of Kangxi, Kangxi set up a guard chief history for some of the princesses who were married according to the rank of Baylor, but the list did not include the name of Princess Gulun Duanmin. In addition, in the fifty-sixth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, the new Prince Of Jian, Ya'er jiang'a (Yabu's son), went so far as to ask the Kangxi Emperor not to marry his daughter into the family of Princess Gulun Duanmin of Korqin.

In this regard, Kangxi actually agreed, and added a sentence after the recital: Princess Duanmin has a well-behaved and violent temperament, not only your father, she is at odds with everyone.

The relationship between Kangxi and his sister Princess Gulun Duanmin can be seen, but because Princess Gulun Duanmin is the adopted daughter of Empress Xiaohuizhang, and Empress Xiaohuizhang has also raised Kangxi, perhaps, the relationship between the two brothers and sisters was not very good before, but because of The love of Empress Xiaohuizhang, Kangxi did not show too obvious.

Princess Guren, who has reached the peak of her life

Although Princess Gulun Duanmin was at odds with many people, including the Kangxi Emperor, one exception was her younger brother, Yin Chan, the fourth son of Kangxi, who would later become the famous Yongzheng Emperor.

Some people may have questions, the age difference between the two brothers and sisters is so large, why is there such a harmonious relationship?

This also brings us to Princess Gulun Duanmin's mother's family, Prince Jane's family.

As mentioned earlier, Princess Gulun Duanmin did not have a good relationship with her brother Yabu and nephew Yaerjiang'a, but Yabu and Ya'erjiang'a were deeply appreciated by the Kangxi Emperor, and Ya'erjiang'a even called Kangxi "the emperor's father" in the recital, and the closeness of the relationship was evident. However, in Yarjiang'a's network, there was a close colleague named Sunu (the great-grandson of Guangluo Belle Chuying), and the two of them were in charge of the affairs of the Internal Affairs Department, and this named Sunu was the henchman of the Eighth Son, Yin Yu, so Yarjiang'a naturally got closer to The Eighth Master.

After Yongzheng succeeded to the throne, he took very different measures against Princess Gulun Duanmin and Yaerjiang'a, and first ordered Duanmin jin to be made Princess Gulun ("Princess Duanmin and Grand Princess and Fourth Princess Ju are Princess Neili, and Princess Duanmin, Grand Princess, and Fourth Princess are all made Princess Gulun because they were less than 100 days old), and then ordered the removal of the prince of Yarjiang'a ("Careless about the incident between Duanmin and Princess Sunu" and then ordered the removal of the prince of Yarjiang'a ("Careless about the incident between Duanmin and the Grand Princess and princessEsui, who were afraid of Yunyu, Sunu and other disobedients").

Seeing this, we can understand why Yongzheng wanted to be crowned princess Gulun Duanmin, a sister who is 25 years older than himself, which can be summed up in one sentence: the enemy of the enemy is his friend.
