In 1625, at the age of 13, Empress Xiaozhuang married Nurhaci's eighth son, Emperor Taiji, as a side Fujin.
Long before Empress Xiaozhuang married Emperor Taiji, her aunt Zhezhe had already married Emperor Taiji, which meant that Emperor Taiji was Bumubutai's uncle by generation, but he was also her husband.
Why did Bumubutai marry his uncle?
