On October 16, the eighth year of Shunzhi, the Shunzhi Emperor Fu came to his place
"The kings have rebelled with Azig to the extreme, and those who are left behind are afraid of trouble and should be executed immediately"
The crime was given to Prince Azig of England to commit suicide. Azig is Dorgon's brother, is Shunzhi's move ambitious? This is not the case, and Azig's death boils down to six words:
You can't live by your own sins!
Azig was Nurhaci's twelfth son, and among the many princes, Nurhaci's least favorite was Azig because of his ugly face and reckless behavior. During the Taizu period, his two younger brothers Dorgon and Dodo were both given the title of Baylor, while Azig was no more than a Taiji.
In the first year of Emperor Taizong's reign, the kings were enfeoffed, and Dorgon and Dodo were made princes of Heshuo, and Azig was only given the title of king of a county. It was not until the first year of Shunzhi that Azig entered the pass from Dolgun to break Li Zicheng, and Dorgon took the opportunity to make him the Prince of Heshuo Wuying. Speaking of which, this is also the reason why Dorgon is regarded as a brother and has quite a battle achievement.
However, Azig really lacked political acumen, such as his own half-brother Duoduo's funeral, slandering Duoduo for not having obvious merits in the various battles in pursuit of Li Zicheng, and should not give preferential treatment to his sons. It is also said that Prince Zheng Zilharang is not the son of Taizu and should not be called "Uncle King". And he is the uncle of the current emperor, and he should be named "Uncle King".
Dorgon was also extremely dissatisfied with this brother, repeatedly reprimanding him for his arrogance and forbidding him to participate in the government. During the regency of Dorgon, Azig was the lowest among the founding kings and received little courtesy, with only 13 cattle in his hand and less than half a flag.
At the end of the seventh year of Shunzhi, Dorgon died in the city of Kara, and Azig was at Dorgon's side, and he mistakenly believed that once Dorgon died, he would be the only one who would succeed him as regent. He hurriedly dispatched 300 cavalry to the capital, hoping to seize the people first and control the situation. Gang Lin, a university scholar who was also in the camp, noticed that the situation was different, and immediately got on his horse and traveled seven hundred miles day and night to enter Beijing to report the change. As a result, Azig's men and horses arrived one step late, the capital was already on guard, the nine gates were closed, and as soon as Azig's men and horses arrived in the capital, they became turtles in an urn.
Azig's behavior was undoubtedly rebellion, but he did not know that the sky was high, and when he entered Beijing with dorgon's coffin a few days later, he thought that he could get the reception of his son Laoqin, but Laoqin did not react. The stupid Azig, still unconscious, continued to whimsically create public opinion for his regent, saying that Dorgon had told him before he died that he would continue to assist the young emperor in the future.
Azig's status in the DPRK is very low and he has no popularity. When Dorgon was alive, the courtiers disobeyed him, and now that Dorgon was dead, how could he listen to Azig's command? They denounced Azig's rebellious intentions and listed many crimes. In particular, Zilharang, the Prince of Zheng, who had been suppressed by Dorgon for many years, took the lead in shooting the head bird and suggested that Azig be imprisoned on the charge of rebellion.
After discussion at the meeting of kings, Azig's 13 cattle records were eventually confiscated and returned to the two yellow banners of the Shunzhi Emperor, and the 7 cattle records he had obtained from Duoduo were re-allocated to Duoduo's son Doni. In addition, many of the servants who had been placed in Azig's name were all enlisted in the office, and Lao's relatives, because of their father's involvement, were also demoted to shells and robbed of their 4 cattle records.
It should be said that the Shunzhi Emperor and Zilharang still turned a blind eye to Azig, but only temporarily imprisoned him, and did not abolish his princely title. If there is any repentance in the future, it will not be difficult to make a comeback.
However, this Azig was too arrogant, and he never took the Shunzhi Emperor in his eyes, thinking that he was a small child and did not respect him normally. When dorgon coffin entered the capital, Azig appeared in front of the Shunzhi Emperor with a waist knife and was impeached for plotting against him.
The Shunzhi Emperor actually had no intention of embarrassing Azig, let alone the idea of killing Azig. However, Azig did not accept the imprisonment, and even hid his weapons, ordered his servants to dig tunnels, and prepared to echo with his son Lao's relatives inside and outside, and escape from prison.
When the Shunzhi Emperor heard the news, he was furious and reduced the number of hundreds of slaves left for Azig to 10, and some of the clothes, livestock, gold and silver that had been left behind were also all taken back. It was also stipulated that Azig's diet should be brought in from the outside, and no fire would be raised inside. At this point, Azig was still unrepentant, and one day in October of the eighth year of Shunzhi, he piled up his clothes and set fire to the house where he was imprisoned. The guards hurried to report it, and the Council of Kings decided that Azig deserved to be executed.
This time, the Shunzhi Emperor also moved his murderous heart and did not want to protect Azig anymore, saying in the edict: "Even if he is forgiven again, he will not be at peace." Azig was then ordered to commit suicide, and his son Lao died with his father. In this way, as an uncle, Azig became the first person to test the Fa by example after Shunzhi's pro-government.
During the Qianlong period, remembering that Azig had great merits among the founding kings, he ordered his rehabilitation and rebuilding of the garden. However, the degree of rehabilitation is very limited, unlike Dorgon and Dordor, who can be hereditary and replaceable with the title of prince, and have the honor of enjoying the temple.
