After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Kong Junbiao was awarded the rank of founding major general at the conferment ceremony in 1955. After the founding of New China, Kong Junbiao served as the political commissar of the Ya'an Military Subdistrict of the Xikang Military Region and the political commissar of the 13th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
