The production and sales of the domestic SUV segment continued to pick up month-on-month, but it was still in a downward range year-on-year.

According to the data of the Association of Automobile Associations, in November this year, China's SUV production was about 1.076 million units, an increase of 17.4% month-on-month, down 2.1% year-on-year; from January to November this year, China's cumulative SUV production was about 8.745 million units, an increase of 6.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate was lower than that of cars and MPV models. In terms of sales, in November this year, China's SUV retail sales of about 841,000 vehicles, an increase of 7% month-on-month, down 12.6% year-on-year; from January to November this year, China's cumulative retail sales of SUVs were about 8.261 million units, an increase of 5% year-on-year, the growth rate is lower than the car market, but higher than the MPV market.

Overall, in November this year, the domestic SUV market share was 46.3%, an increase of 0.5 percentage points over the first quarter of this year. From the perspective of market segmentation, in the context of consumption upgrading, the most competitive A-class SUV market has shown fatigue, and B-class SUVs show growth potential.

Independent pressure joint venture, B-class SUV is stronger

According to the data, in November, domestic A-class SUV sales were about 485,000 units, down 23.4% year-on-year, accounting for 26.7% of the overall passenger car market; domestic A0-class SUV sales were about 119,000 units, down 17.9% year-on-year, accounting for 6.6% of the overall passenger car market; only B-class SUVs showed a positive growth trend, with sales of 214,000 units in November, an increase of 23.7% year-on-year, accounting for 11.8% of the overall passenger car market share.

From January to November, the cumulative sales of domestic A-class SUVs were 5.078 million units, a slight increase of 0.3% year-on-year, accounting for 28.1% of the overall passenger car market share; the cumulative sales of domestic A0-class SUVs were 1.284 million units, down 3.3% year-on-year, accounting for 7.1% of the overall passenger car market; the cumulative sales of domestic B-class SUVs were 1.758 million units, an increase of 25.5% year-on-year, and the share of the overall passenger car market was 9.7%.

The trend of domestic SUV consumption upgrading is becoming more and more obvious, and the polarization trend can also be seen from the sales performance of models in different price ranges. In November, sales of SUVs of 300,000 yuan and above increased by 24.6% year-on-year to 118,000 units, while sales of models under 300,000 yuan decreased by 16.7% year-on-year to 723,000 units. From January to November, cumulative sales of SUVs of 300,000 yuan and above increased by 1.902 million units, an increase of 15.1% year-on-year, and cumulative sales of models under 300,000 yuan were 7.188 million units, an increase of 2.1% year-on-year.

From the perspective of brand country, independent brand SUVs have suppressed mainstream joint venture brands, and they are better in terms of sales, growth rate and market share. In November, self-owned SUVs sold 451,000 units, down 9.9% year-on-year, accounting for 24.8% of the overall passenger car market share, while mainstream joint venture SUVs sold 288,000 units, down 5% month-on-month and 19.2% year-on-year, accounting for 15.9% of the overall passenger car market share. From January to November, the cumulative sales of autonomous SUVs increased by 7.1% year-on-year to 22.2% of the overall passenger car market share, and the cumulative sales of mainstream joint venture SUVs were 3.14 million units, down 0.7% year-on-year, accounting for 17.4% of the overall passenger car market share.

Some industry insiders believe that although the global car market this year has been affected by the shortage of chips, independent brands are less affected by chips, mainly because some of the chips of independent brand models are supplied by domestic manufacturers, and the import dependence is relatively low. In addition, the chip of the joint venture brand model has also been squeezed out of part of the supply by the luxury brand model, so the structural shortage of the chip of the joint venture brand will be more prominent, which will also have a certain impact on its sales.

Ideal ONE entered the top fifteen for the first time

In November, the ranking of domestic hot-selling SUV models also has a lot of highlights. In line with the trend of "independent pressure joint venture brands", four of the top five in the top ten domestic SUV sales list in November are autonomous SUV models.

Among them, the "god car" Haval H6 won the championship again with a monthly sales of more than 30,000 vehicles, FOLLOWED Song with a result of more than 25,000 vehicles, Changan CS75 sold more than 20,000 vehicles ranked fourth, and Changan CS55 sold nearly 20,000 vehicles ranked fifth.

It is worth noting that although the sales champion Haval H6 returned to the 30,000-vehicle mark, its year-on-year decline reached 44.4%, and the gap with the second place was only 5126 vehicles.

Some analysts believe that with the influx of more and more new products, the competition in the domestic SUV market is becoming increasingly fierce, and the share of Haval H6 has gradually been eroded, and even many of them have been snatched away by their own brother models. It is reported that this year, only the Haval brand has launched three new models of Haval First Love, Big Dog and Red Rabbit.

Dongfeng Honda CR-V, which has won the monthly sales championship of joint venture SUVs for many times, fell out of the top fifteen list this month. In fact, in the first four months of this year, the sales volume of Dongfeng Honda CR-V was significantly ahead of last year, and there was a six-month sales decline since May. On the one hand, the model is seriously affected by the "lack of core", on the other hand, the same door brother Guangqi Honda Haoying has skyrocketed all the way, which has also brought a lot of impact to CR-V.

In addition, Tesla Model Y ranked among the top three domestic hot-selling SUVs, and the ideal ONE rushed into the list for the first time, which is also a major highlight this month. In November, Tesla Model Y sold more than 23,000 units, ranking third among the most popular models. A year ago, Tesla Model Y was not yet involved in the Chinese market, and now, it has not only appeared in the single-month list for several consecutive months, but also squeezed into the top fifteen of the total list of domestic SUVs with cumulative sales of 129,000 vehicles.

The Ideal ONE appeared for the first time in the list of hot-selling models, with sales of about 13,000 units in November, ranking thirteenth. Tesla Model Y, ideal ONE both entered the list, but also from the side of the rapid development of new energy SUV models.

"The consumer enthusiasm of SUVs will also be reflected in the new energy vehicle market, and the electrification of SUVs contains greater opportunities." The electric SUV has a better layout design, the body is relatively high, and the chassis can lay out more batteries. At the same time, because the price of SUVs is relatively high, and electric SUVs have no impact of consumption tax, such products will form a good market recognition, thus forming a dual combination of product power and price power, and the sales of electric SUVs will also be improved. Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the National Passenger Car Market Information Joint Association, said.
