Judging from the delivery of several new car-making forces, April 2022:

Xiaopeng Automobile (09868.HK/XPEV.US) delivered 9,002 units, an increase of 74.9% year-on-year;

Ideal car (02015.HK/LI.US) delivered 4167 units;

NIO (09866.HK/NIO.US) delivered 5,074 smart electric vehicles, of which 693 were delivered for the smart electric flagship car ET7;

Nezha Automobile delivered 8,813 units in April, an increase of 120% year-on-year;

Zero-run cars delivered a total of 9,087 in April, an increase of 228% year-on-year.

On May 1, Xiaopeng Automobile said that due to the recent continuation of the epidemic, the domestic automotive industry has collectively borne pressure in many aspects such as supply chain, production and logistics and transportation, and most car companies have been affected in production and delivery, and the delivery results in April have declined to a certain extent. Fortunately, as the severity of the epidemic has eased, the automobile industry has resumed work and production in mid-April, and production capacity has gradually climbed. With the help of relevant ministries and competent departments, Xiaopeng Motors has also actively coordinated upstream and downstream to overcome industry difficulties and make every effort to ensure production and smooth delivery.

Shen Yanan, co-founder and president of Ideal Automobile, said, "Since the end of March, due to the rebound of the epidemic in the Yangtze River Delta, the supply chain, logistics and production of the whole industry have been seriously disrupted. Ideal Auto's Changzhou base is located in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, in the center of the Yangtze River Delta, while more than 80% of Ideal Auto's parts suppliers are distributed in the Yangtze River Delta region, and a large part of them are located in Shanghai and Kunshan, Jiangsu. Affected by the epidemic in the Yangtze River Delta, some suppliers located in Shanghai and Kunshan, Jiangsu and other regions can not supply, and some suppliers even completely stop work and operation, resulting in the inability to continue to maintain production after the existing parts inventory is digested, which has a great impact on the production of Ideal Automobile in April, resulting in the delay in the delivery of new cars for some users. At present, Ideal Auto is working with supply chain enterprises to actively restore production capacity under the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, and shorten the waiting period for booking ideal ONE users to pick up the car. ”

Previously, Ideal Auto said in a delivery delay statement released on the evening of April 20 that it would strive to control the delivery delay for users within 3 weeks.

Weilai Automobile also said that to meet the continuous growth of order demand, it is necessary to further overcome the pressure caused by the epidemic and supply chain. Production is gradually resuming.

On April 9, NIO announced that vehicle production had been suspended and that delivery of some vehicles would be delayed. Li Bin, founder of Weilai Automobile, said that due to the impact of the epidemic, Weilai has been cut off from parts in mid-March, relying on inventory support until last week, the recent epidemic in Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places has led to more partners unable to supply, can only suspend production. He said bluntly: "This situation is not ours, many manufacturers have suspended production." ”

On April 14, Weilai Automobile said that the current supply chain has recovered slightly, and the Hefei production base is gradually resuming production, but the follow-up production plan also depends on the recovery of the supply chain.

The epidemic has put pressure on the automotive supply chain

China's passenger car terminal sales in April down 25% y/y

Since late March, the automotive supply chain as a whole has been affected by the epidemic.

On April 30, the data released by the China Automobile Dealers Association showed that the inventory warning index of Chinese automobile dealers in April 2022 was 66.4%, up 10 percentage points year-on-year and 2.8 percentage points month-on-month, the inventory early warning index was above the boom-bust line, and the automobile circulation industry was in a slump range.

The Automobile Dealers Association expects full-caliber narrow passenger car terminal sales to be around 1.3 million units in April, down about 15% month-on-month and 25% year-on-year.

In April, the production, transportation and terminal sales of automobiles were greatly affected, and the situation of the automobile market was not optimistic.

The epidemic situation in various places has not been effectively contained, and the prevention and control policies in many places have been upgraded, resulting in some automobile manufacturers suspending production and reducing production in stages, and transportation has been blocked to affect the delivery of new cars by dealers.

In the sample of 94 cities, due to the provisions of the epidemic prevention and control policy, dealers in 34 cities closed their stores, of which more than 60% of the dealers closed for more than one week. Affected by this, dealers can not hold offline auto shows, only rely on online marketing effects are limited, dealers customer flow and transaction volume decline seriously. At the same time, the transportation of new cars is limited, the pace of delivery is slowing down, some orders are lost, and the turnover of funds is tight.

In addition, high oil prices, the continuous impact of the epidemic, the rise in the price of new energy and traditional energy vehicles, the reduction of consumer income in the current period and other factors, consumers have expected price reductions, and the risk aversion mentality has led to a lack of consumer demand in the automobile market, and the weakening of terminal demand has further inhibited the recovery of the automobile market.

Judging from the regional index situation, the epidemic situation in Shanghai, Jilin and other places is at a high level, and the index of the northern and eastern regions is close to 70%, higher than that of the southern and western regions.

According to the analysis of the Automobile Dealers Association, due to the tightening of epidemic prevention and control, the postponement of the car exhibition in many places, and the reduction of consumers' current income, the market environment is complex, and it is expected that the market performance in May will be slightly better than that in April, but not as good as the same period last year.
