The successive launch of various intelligent interaction and intelligent services in the car has made the intelligent cockpit a "third living space" after the traditional home and office scenarios, but the definition standards of the existing car companies for the intelligent cockpit are different, and the configuration data is too complex, so our goal is to simplify the complexity and launch the "Digital Intelligence + ICBT-100 Intelligent Cockpit Evaluation Standard".
As the first program of the Intelligent Cockpit Test Center, we invited 3 "star-level celebrities": NIO ES6, Xiaopeng P7 and Ideal ONE to see if the legendary top-notch "Wei Xiaoli" smart cockpit performance can bring us surprises?
In this "Digital Intelligence + ICBT-100 Intelligent Cockpit Evaluation Standard", the focus is on three categories: intelligent hardware, interaction capabilities, and application ecology, and at the same time, each category is divided into two dimensions of data + experience, and subdivided into more than 30 projects to score, to see how well the intelligent car machines we use in our daily life are.
Introduction of the contestants
In terms of model selection, we chose the domestic hot "Wei Xiaoli", in which Weilai chose Weilai ES6 as a representative because the models currently on sale are consistent in both hardware specifications and software versions.
Xiaopeng was supposed to send the flagship G9, but because the real car was not delivered, we chose our old friend - the "sub-flagship" Xiaopeng P7; as for the ideal, like Xiaopeng, the flagship L9 has not been listed, so only ONE is the only choice.
Machine hardware
In the intelligent hardware project, we focused on the three major sections of screen, basic hardware, and extended interface for detailed scoring.
NIO ES6
As the second model of Weilai, ES6 can be described as the fist product at this stage, and the younger and more mature positioning allows it to even determine the direction of the entire brand development, so it strives for excellence in the polishing of the details of ES6 products.
In terms of intelligent cockpit performance, the ES6 central control screen is the only one of the three cars that adopts a vertical screen layout, and the family unified 9.8-inch full LCD instrument + 11.3-inch central large screen combination combines the two interactive methods of screen touch + basic physical buttons, and with the Aspen system, the whole car machine gives people a very comfortable experience.
In terms of specific parameters, although the resolution of the central control screen of Weilai ES6 reached 1600 * 1400 (the highest of the three cars) / the maximum brightness was 531.77nit (ranking second), but perhaps due to the earliest release time of the material process restrictions, the actual color performance is not satisfactory, the NTSC color gamut value is only 69.4%, to know that the general notebook display color gamut is about 72%.
In terms of basic hardware specifications, WEILAI ES6 is also equipped with only one NVIDIA X1 chip (20nm process) released in 2015 because of the release time, and the matching running memory (RAM) is only 1G + storage space (ROM) 32G.
The basic hardware of NIO ES6 at this stage may also be a big problem for subsequent OTA upgrades. But fortunately, according to internal reports, Weilai is planning to launch a hardware upgrade service to replace and upgrade the existing chips of ES8 and ES6.
Xiaopeng P7
Xiaopeng as the three most grounded car companies, smart cockpit is also close to the people, since the release of the new version of the Xmart OS system, open and highly customized user experience so that Xiaopeng car machine has been well received by users, and this time the appearance of P7 is one of the representatives.
Xiaopeng P7 adopts the mainstream dual screen design, of which the central control size is 14.96 inches, the resolution is 2400 * 1200, and the measured screen PPI reaches 179.
In terms of actual perception, thanks to the reasonable angle design, the viewing angle is the best among the three cars, and the screen oil trap is smooth enough to provide excellent fingerprint control.
In terms of basic hardware parameters, Xiaopeng is definitely the "big brother" of the three cars, not only the processor is equipped with the current smart cockpit mainstream Qualcomm Snapdragon 820A chip (released in 2018 / quad-core design), but also uses the LPDDR4 8G (running memory) + UFS2.0 128G (storage space) memory combination. Although such a configuration is not a new configuration for the mobile phone side, it is already a very high level on the car side.
Ideal ONE
After the release of the ideal ONE, it once again subverted everyone's business image that should have been for medium and large SUVs, and the stylish and sporty styling designs are more youthful and more visually impactful.
The ideal ONE in the smart cockpit also performed well, with four screens being the most of the three models, and almost all of the functions were interacted through the screen. The ideal ONE's understanding of the cockpit, the main four-screen interaction + full vehicle voice interaction, through the screen and voice to complete the required functions.
In the actual experience, the ideal ONE central control screen adopts the unique proportion of flat horizontal screen, although the size of 16.2 inches is the largest in the whole field, but the resolution is only 2608x720 (with narrow edges as the standard, that is, 720P), so the actual aliasing is more obvious in daily viewing; however, in terms of color performance, the ideal ONE directly turns over as the master, whether it is 93.9% NTSC color gamut value or 648.28nit maximum brightness, are completely crushing the two opponents. At the same time, the ideal ONE is also better than the opponents in the screen temperature control, in the 30 minutes of the highest brightness + full operation conditions, the average screen temperature is also controlled at about 38.38 degrees.
In terms of basic hardware parameters, the ideal ONE processor is comparable to the Xiaopeng P7, which is also equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820A chip, and the running memory is also 8G, but the storage space is slightly reduced, only 64G.
Summary of the hardware of the car machine
The table is the individual scores for each vehicle in the hardware section of the vehicle. Through the data, we can see that Xiaopeng P7 has a clear lead, and although the ideal ONE has a comprehensive quality that is not as good as P7, it catches up in screen color and brightness, and the interface expansion also fully takes into account the needs of contemporary consumers.
Interactive Capabilities
There is a saying in the IT world: "No matter how good the hardware, without system optimization, it is futile", which reflects the importance of the system. At the same time, the interactive interface is not only the most direct contact between the owner and the car, but also the excellent logic can directly improve the user experience of the entire cockpit, so in this intelligent cockpit test, the interaction ability of the car and the machine occupies a large part, and in this column we are divided into three dimensions: system, voice, and other three dimensions.
Special instructions: In order to more directly show the logic of the system, we set up a logic challenge competition, that is, within the specified time, let the first-time experience users, according to the process of opening each function in turn: match the mobile phone Bluetooth to open Bluetooth music (start playing) dial 10086 phone (connected) adjust the brightness of the car screen (adjusted to the brightest) navigation destination, to see who lasts the shortest time.
NIO ES6
WEILAI EC6 thanks to the upgrade of ThePen OS 3.0 version, the entire UI is fully updated, the main page is based on map information, and the multimedia and vehicle information function cards are retained below, and all the icons also adopt a minimalist flat style, which will make people feel very "small and fresh" on the senses.
The LEVEL of THE WEILAI EC6 system is relatively large in the three cars, so there is a learning process for beginner users in the system logic; however, the menu interface is mainly based on "icon display", the display effect is very intuitive, clear and easy to read, and can support a variety of gesture operations.
It is worth mentioning that the NIO ES6 is also the only model among the three cars to retain the physical buttons, including the home button, the menu button, the vehicle driving mode button and the volume knob, but constantly switch between the touch screen and the physical Home/MENU button, but it is a bit uncomfortable, but it is better to retain the volume knob (which is absolutely praised).
In terms of voice system performance, the three players have shown great strength, and ES6 is the only model in the three that supports custom wake words; and in the actual experience, it performs well in basic items such as daily weather, music, navigation, control windows, air conditioning, etc., and supports the identification of the main driver + co-driver + rear row three-tone area recognition and continuous dialogue, but in the recognition speed, it can be clearly felt that it is slightly slower than the two opponents by about 1 second, and the recognition rate of the back row is not high (the front row is VERY OK), and does not support the current hot "visible can be said." "Features.
In other projects, WEILAI ES6 remote control only supports conventional air conditioning, unlocking and other functions, and is not too innovative.
Xiaopeng P7
Xiaopeng P7 in the UI design style tends to be more functional, the main page and Weilai are the same as the map as the core, and the left floating card layout supports map search, multimedia music, Bluetooth phone, etc., and the order of arrangement will be intelligently judged by AI, while the top of the interface of the icons can be directly touched and clicked.
In addition, there are fixed function options on the far left, including application menu, vehicle settings, automatic parking, air conditioning temperature regulation, music, telephone 6 most commonly used functions, but also because of the convenient card + fixed options, so that xiaopeng P7 is much less difficult to get started, the measured logic takes the shortest time, it can be said that there is almost no learning cost.
However, the fly in the ointment is that the layout of Xiaopeng P7 is different in the layout of each function, some are "display type" and some are "right expansion type", and the application menu "Vehicle Settings" and "System Settings" appear at the same time, which will also make people a little confused.
On the voice system, Xiaopeng P7 adopts a program from iFLYTEK, which perfectly supports the routine functions of adjusting temperature and setting navigation, and for the test of recognition rate + error correction and other capabilities, P7 also has a good performance. But what's even more valuable is that the P7 is also a voice system that can handle up to 3 operations at the same time in three cars (the ES6 and ONE do not support simultaneous operation).
The visible and functional car on the Xiaopeng P7 covers almost all vehicle settings and system settings, but there are only a few applications supported on third-party apps.
Ideal ONE
The UI interface of the ideal ONE is completely two directions with Weilai Xiaopeng, if Weilai Xiaopeng is a liberal arts student, then the ideal must be from the hands of science students, the first glance looks very refined, very directly in the form of cards tiled on the desktop. At the same time, thanks to the widescreen design, there are enough cards that can be displayed, and it is visually intuitive.
For the system logic and hierarchy, the ideal ONE is clearer than the opponents, and adopts a simpler "right-to-side behavior extension" logic design, which greatly reduces the number of times the user clicks the screen, especially for improving driving safety.
Is it not to see this, will think that the ideal ONE logic challenge time will be the shortest, but the actual measurement is not, although the system logic setting in the three cars is the most excellent, but some APP and system settings (Bluetooth, etc.) Response time is longer, but the challenge time in the three cars bottom.
For the voice system, in addition to the basic function that can no longer be stable, the ideal ONE is also the only model in the three cars that supports the recognition of the four-tone zone, including: main driver + co-driver + rear left + rear right, and thanks to the radio microphone in the rear row (Xiaopeng and Weilai only have the front row), even in the third row The recognition performance of the ideal ONE is also very good.
In the ideal ONE's visible and speakable function, most of the setting interface (but not Xiaopeng comprehensive) and the video viewing operation of controlling the co-driver entertainment screen have been adapted, while the third party supports a few apps such as QQ Music and Himalaya.

Through the data, we can see that the overall ranking is roughly the same as the hardware, Xiaopeng P7 is far ahead in the score, followed by the ideal ONE, Weilai ES6. Among them, Ideal and Xiaopeng present two directions of style in UI performance, but both of them are very good.
Application Ecology:
But through the phenomenon to see the essence, we will find that to achieve a truly intelligent cockpit, it is not only dependent on the car system itself, but to join a richer application ecology, after all, there is not enough application ecology, the system itself does not have much value, which is connected with the current hot IT industry.
Therefore, in this part, we combine the existing highest standards of intelligence and the judgment of future industry trends to carry out more demanding redundant projects, which mainly include: 1. OTA upgrades, 2. Audio and Video Resources, 3. Entertainment game experience, 4. Expanding functions (HUD, personalized mode, etc.), the scoring criteria are based on the average level of the current intelligent car, which belongs to the advanced needs of intelligent subdivision.
NIO ES6
In terms of APP expansion, perhaps weilai ES6 hardware function is insufficient, Weilai has strict restrictions on it, temporarily does not support the application market download, can only use the original built-in QQ music, Himalaya FM, iQiyi and Tencent video, and entertainment is even less pitiful, only the national K song and tide.
However, Weilai ES6 wins on the QQ music interface, and its interface modification of the APP makes it more in line with the operation habits of the vertical screen car machine, and the actual experience is really good.
Xiaopeng P7
Xiaopeng is definitely the richest in this application expansion, in addition to the super rich application market, but also supports the expansion of small programs, the comprehensive number at least I can not count (too rich); at the same time it also supports in addition to audio APP, including WPS, DingTalk, etc. and a variety of games, practical and entertaining greatly enhanced.
However, the fly in the ointment is that Xiaopeng P7 has not made any interface modifications to most of the APP, among which QQ Music and NetEase Cloud directly use the official car version of the APP.
Ideal ONE
The application ecology of the ideal ONE is between Xiaopeng and Weilai, and the number of third-party apps in its own application market is only 12, but our most commonly used music/video applications are basically fully covered, and the entertainment APP has only one "karaoke".
In addition, the ideal ONE is equipped with a co-driver screen, so most video entertainment APPS can only be opened on the co-driver screen, while the rest of the video APP can be played in the P file state in the central control screen, and when hung into the D file, it will automatically switch to the co-driver screen.
In terms of interface adaptation, the ideal ONE is the best adaptation among the three cars, of which QQ Music, iQiyi, etc. all use card layouts like the system UI, and support voice operation fast forward, fast rewind and other functions.

As we all know, with the improvement of the level of intelligence of the car, the significant change of the intelligent cockpit is from passive interaction (initiated by people) to active interaction (both people or machines can initiate), and the way to obtain content and services has increased, so the car-machine system needs a more active, natural and emotional experience to further meet the needs of occupants for cockpit infotainment and work activities.
At the same time, the definition brought about by the rich cockpit data is also more complex, and our "Digital Intelligence + ICBT-100 Intelligent Cockpit Evaluation Standard" is to explore a meaningful and practical intelligent experience for consumers, so that the intelligent cockpit has been carefully split, so as to more clearly understand the advantages and disadvantages of each model of smart cockpit.
Looking at the evaluation results, Xiaopeng P7 with 78.5 points, is undoubtedly the existence of the "king of the car machine", and has great advantages in the three dimensions of hardware, interaction and application expansion, but there is still a lot of room for progress in the corresponding screen quality and application UI adaptation!
And the ideal ONE won the second place (68 points) is not surprising, it is also an "excellent student" in hardware materials, not only with the same P7 with the 820A chip, and the screen quality is invincible; at the same time, the system logic is also the best of the three, but if the application response can be faster, it will be able to be the same as Xiaopeng P7 in score.
Although THE NIO ES6 (61.5 points) lags behind in the three, this actual result is definitely at the top of the list of all models, after all, it is not easy for NIO to do such an experience with older hardware, plus there is a cute NOMI is definitely a plus. (But if NIO can open up the third-party APP market again, it will be the best!) ）
