Baby scientific anti-sensitivity, Nestlé joined hands with many parties to build a "defense line"

It is the allergy season, and parents pay special attention to the allergy problems that occur in the process of raising their babies. Allergy problems are also listed by the World Health Organization as one of the "three major diseases in the 21st century", allergies have a very large impact on children's health and quality of life, babies have allergies in the early stage of life, the risk of allergic diseases in the future life will be greatly increased. According to the survey information of allergy epidemiology, 40.9% of children reported allergic symptoms, and 12.3% of children aged 0 to 2 years were diagnosed with allergic diseases. On April 8th, in order to help parents establish a scientific anti-sensitivity concept, Nestlé joined hands with Zhihu and Cui Yutao Parenting Center to jointly hold a press conference on "Scientific Early Defense and Peace of Mind Allergy Season". Experts at the meeting suggested that if the baby really needs to add formula powder within 6 months of age, the recommendation should start with adding partial hydrolyzed formula powder.

Prevention in advance is important

At present, some parents have insufficient understanding of the baby's allergy symptoms, the causes of allergies and how to prevent allergies. To this end, Nestlé, together with Zhihu and Cui Yutao Parenting Center, jointly held an online press conference on the "Scientific Early Defense, Safe and Sensitive Season" to share the efforts and achievements made by all parties for allergic babies.

After gaining insight into the situation that many mothers asked questions about their babies' allergies on Zhihu, Zhihu interviewed 2581 parents and jointly launched the "Sensitive Questions Have Answers" number-hole report together with a number of experts and Zhihu high-quality respondents.

Zhihu joined hands with well-known parenting expert Professor Cui Yutao, food safety expert Sun Yafei and a number of zhihu high-quality respondents and psychologists on "What are the causes of baby allergies?" "How should babies with allergies be fed?" "How can mothers of sensitive toddlers adjust their mindset?" issues such as science popularization. It provides authoritative and constructive advice for parents of allergic babies.

After noticing the lack of scientific awareness among parents in the field of anti-allergy knowledge, Cui Yutao Parenting Center launched the "2022 Infant Anti-Allergy Cognition Survey" through the survey of 2073 bao moms. The report sorted out several major causes of allergies that induce babies, the daily allergy performance of babies, and sorted out which babies are more likely to be allergic for parents, and joined hands with a number of experts to launch Minbao daily care tips for parents.

The survey found that in addition to the "obvious" allergy symptoms such as skin allergies, most parents do not understand other allergy symptoms that the baby appears on a daily basis. According to the "2022 Infant Anti-Allergy Cognitive Survey", 50.8% of parents said that their babies "had" allergy symptoms, and 83% of parents were very concerned about the baby's skin allergy symptoms, but only about 30% of parents knew that crying, sleeping badly, spitting up milk, poor stool, and bloating were allergic symptoms.

Cui Yutao believes that "the baby's allergies not only seriously interfere with the baby's normal life, but also affect the growth and development. Parents should pay attention to the baby's allergies and use scientific means to defend against allergies as soon as possible. ”

Partially hydrolyzed formula prevents "small sensitivity"

In daily feeding, the most easily ignored by parents is the baby's food allergy problem. Among them, the macromolecular milk protein in milk is one of the important triggers for baby food allergies. If you want to block allergens from the source, it is especially important to choose a suitable milk powder.

According to the "2022 Infant Anti-Allergy Cognitive Survey", nearly 90% of mothers add formula milk before the baby's 6 months of age due to insufficient breast milk, but 86% choose ordinary formula powder, and only 3.8% choose partially hydrolyzed formula; in premature babies, caesarean section and other high-risk babies, there are not many who add partial hydrolyzed formula powder.

In this regard, Cui Yutao suggested that if the baby really needs to add formula powder within 6 months of age, it is recommended to start by adding partial hydrolyzed formula powder. Premature babies should use preterm special needs milk powder in the early stages, and priority can be given to partial hydrolyzed formula milk powder when transferring milk, giving the gastrointestinal tract more time to adapt.

Hydrolyzed milk powder is based on ordinary milk powder, using the hydrolysis process to cut the complete large molecule milk protein into small molecule protein, so that the baby's still weak intestine is easier to absorb, can reduce the risk of baby allergies from the source.

After the survey, it was found that the proportion of parents who believe that allergies can be prevented by giving their babies partial hydrolyzed formula is as high as 73%, but there is a huge gap between parents' cognition and practical operation.

In this regard, Cui Yutao said, "This is the misunderstanding that some parents think that the taste of hydrolyzed formula milk powder is not very good, and at the same time, they are worried that nutrition is not as comprehensive as ordinary formula milk powder." Partial hydrolyzed formula only changes the size of the milk protein, does not cause nutrient loss, and its nutrition is still comprehensive. At the same time, babies can generally accept the taste of hydrolyzed milk powder. ”

Cui Yutao further pointed out, "Partial/moderate hydrolyzed formula powder is nutritionally comprehensive and can be eaten for a long time, which can continuously reduce the risk of allergies, and parents should pay attention to choosing a formula suitable for the baby's current age." ”

Nestlé focuses on infant nutrition

Nestlé has an advanced food and nutrition research network, backed by a team of scientists, nutritionists, engineers, designers and regulatory experts behind every product.

Nestlé told Consumer Titanium that Nestlé has thousands of scientists and technicians working in research and development and working closely with venture capital, research partners and universities. In terms of infant nutrition, Nestlé has an excellent global research network in the food industry, dedicated to the study of nutrients needed at different stages of the life cycle, especially for the nutritional and health needs of the first 1,000 days of life. For example, Nestlé's "Ming" study in 2011 with Peking University was the earliest large-scale study of the nutritional status of mothers and babies and the composition of breast milk in China.

For Chinese babies, Nestlé also gave a variety of local innovations. Nestlé said that Nestlé's localization innovation mainly includes two aspects: one is to continue to pay attention to and understand the nutritional needs of Chinese mothers and babies, based on the needs of Chinese mothers and babies for special nutrition, scientific research and exploration, and develop nutritional solutions for Chinese mothers and babies; on the other hand, it is our responsibility to provide infant and child care knowledge services to mothers with special nutritional needs, so our Nestlé professional online platform has launched a lot of gadgets and knowledge content that can help mothers. Help mom get the services she needs in one place.

At the same time, in terms of focusing on the prevention of allergic diseases in infants and young children, based on a strong scientific research background in infant nutrition, Nestlé has a series of targeted formula milk powders that can meet the various nutritional needs of the early 100 days of life and escort the growth of special babies. For example, Nestlé's RASH research project launched in Shanghai provides scientific support for the preventive effects and mechanisms of moderately hydrolyzed whey protein formula on infant AD (atopic dermatitis) from a new perspective.

Nestlé told "Consumption Titanium" that Nestlé provides a complete nutritional solution for allergic babies who cannot breastfeed in China, including Nestlé Health Science's AAA formula, in which the deep hydrolyzed amino acid formula is a dietary avoidance treatment for milk protein allergy.

Nestlé's hydrolysis technology is relatively advanced, and in the German STUDY GINI, Nestlé Super Qinengen was validated as a moderately hydrolyzed whey protein powder that is effective in preventing protein allergies. In addition, when the baby needs to slowly transition back to a normal diet, the partial hydrolysis formula can also be used as a undertaker. Nestlé therefore offers allergy babies a complete nutritional solution from treatment to conversion and prevention of allergies.

For the future, Nestlé said it will integrate more global scientific and technological research and development resources, carry out more special research, and care for the healthy growth of Chinese babies.
