On February 7, the third day of the Beijing Winter Olympics, in the final of the men's slope steeplechase in snowboarding, Canada's Max Parot pressed China's Su Yiming to win the first gold medal of the Winter Olympics for Canada with an outstanding performance. Su Yiming won the silver medal.

However, while people cheered for Su Yiming's silver medal, we were even more moved by the inspirational story behind champion Max Parrott.

For the Canadian star, it is already a miracle to be able to get back on the slopes, and winning the championship is a miracle of miracles.

Born in 1994, Max Parrote competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang and won a silver medal in the men's steeplechase competition in snowboarding.

Unfortunately, in December 2018, Max Parrote was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and received 12 rounds of chemotherapy in six months, traumatizing both physically and mentally. During this time he shaved his head and stopped all training.

He was so sick that he was chronically sick and so sick and weak that he couldn't imagine whether his body would be able to return to health again in the future.

"My muscles started to atrophy, I didn't have the strength to do aerobic exercise. I almost wanted to give up many times because it was so hard to get up the next morning. ”

Supposedly, his career should end there.

But Max Parrott was a fighter, and instead of giving up, he fought cancer. "You know, you have a lot of chemotherapy regimens, you don't know if the treatment is effective, you don't know how your body will respond to the treatment, there are a lot of unknowns," he said. ”

Max Parrott is strong in the fight against cancer, even if it is painful, he does not flinch, he believes that a better tomorrow is still beckoning to him.

Sure enough, he overcame the disease and recovered! In 2019, just two months after completing his last treatment, Parrott returned to the race with amazing perseverance and came out on top in the XGames (XGAMES) Norway race.

"Through the fight against cancer, I realized how lucky I was to be alive. If I had the opportunity to go back two years, if I hadn't had cancer and just lived a normal life, I wouldn't have thought so. ”

Parot said cancer has changed himself, and he used to take some things for granted, but now he treats everything with gratitude.

"Every time I tie my foot to a ski, I appreciate it more than ever. I smile more now, I smile twice as much as before, everything is more positive and less stressful, and it's a pleasure to be able to play now. ”

He confessed that he got rid of the pressure and let himself slide better, and it was this mentality of enjoyment and relaxation that allowed him to play better and achieve one victory after another.

Restarting his life and returning to the field, he did not forget to give back to the community. Parrott is currently a spokesman for the Canadian Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and recently released a documentary called MAX—Life as a Gold Medal documenting his recovery journey.

"I want to inspire people that you can beat anything in life," he said. ”

In fact, when Max Parrott stubbornly defeated the disease and returned to the field, he had already become a dancer of the flower of life, the king of extreme sports, and infected and inspired us with his actions and spirit.

Nothing is impossible with TMD!

In the name of love, congratulations to Max Parrott and a deep respect to him!
