"Strict love" industrial chain
This year, a tag appeared on TikTok, filled with children who had been sent to closed correctional schools by their parents, and who had the courage to tell their stories.
Daniel chose to come out at the age of 15, while also suffering from anxiety and depression. One night in the hospital, two men shook him awake in the middle of the night and warned him that if you struggled, there would be no good fruit to eat. In fear, he was taken to the car and left in a wilderness. It was a "kidnapping" authorized by his parents.
They signed him up for a "wilderness project," and the correctional agency promised that they would take the "troubled teenagers" to wilderness training and that they would become well-behaved children when they returned.
In the 77 days, Daniel experienced inhuman torture, was forced to starve and beaten in the cold wilderness, was controlled to sleep, and some of the children sent with him chose to commit suicide, and some of them survived these 77 days like him, but when they returned home, they still could not satisfy their parents, and they were sent to other states' disciplinary plans.
Today, such institutions are known in the United States as the Troubled Teen Industry, where they market their ability to change their children's behavior and treat their psychological problems, including: eating disorders, addictions, depression and disobedience.
Among them, the more familiar school forms should be military schools (Trump has attended) and boarding schools, as well as short-term projects such as chicken blood summer camps and extreme wilderness survival.
The industry has agents who pitch projects to parents, rooted in churches, schools, and other places, to introduce disciplinary programs to parents who think they have exhausted their means to help their children.
Ads for these programs are often very enticing, with highly commented on the site from various participants and their parents, who say it can save a child's life, saying that it will make the child better in ten days.
They take advantage of the parents' anxiety and luck psychology to exaggerate the problems with their children, telling them: If they do not rush to us, your children will die or go to prison immediately.
Motivated parents pay high prices of thousands of dollars a month, and in most cases, in order to avoid their children's struggles, they mostly have disciplinary agency personnel kidnap their children in the middle of the night and send them across the country. Many parents will even send their children away and satisfactorily recommend them to other parents who are in trouble.
But many people are dumbfounded when their children come back from school. Some children are worse and more violent than they were before they went to school, and some children never come back from there.
Forced labor controls sleep, and sexual assault is rampant
National surveys have found thousands of allegations of abuse in correctional schools, as well as countless deaths. In the United States, More than 20,000 users of Tieba's group on being abused in disciplinary schools tried to defend their rights. But this chaotic industry has never been managed.

Many of the surviving teenagers who have participated say they are treated like livestock in school, and sexual assault and strip searches are the norm. Schools are full of violence, and they invent an "attack therapy." Have the participating minors verbally abuse and beat each other for treatment. Dr. Trutt, a clinical psychologist and neuroscientist, believes that sending children to these institutions can make their children's mental problems worse. Bruce's mother sent her 16-year-old son to a disciplinary training camp in the mountains. Before watching the child being kidnapped, she kept saying "I'm doing this for your own good, I'm not going to do anything to hurt you".
On Bruce's first day at camp, the other boys told him that the only thing that would change here was that your spirit would break. They study some of the great historical men's articles every morning and then get an assignment. Every other day, 15 children are sent to the farm to do heavy physical work that is difficult for adults to complete. But every day you eat only moldy pancakes, or rotten fried meat, and most of the time the children are very hungry.
During the "break," the children were asked to run back from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain a dozen times, carrying a 20-pound stone and various physical training sessions. After practicing, I continued to go back to work. At night, as soon as they fall asleep, they are called up to continue running.
If anyone can't stick to the exercise, the staff will encourage other students to "help" those who are behind — dragging their hands and feet along, or punching them in the stomach.
In order to control children, these projects are not allowed to carry communication equipment, so even if there is a problem, many children cannot contact their families. Here, if you obey the task, you can earn 3 points every day, and you can accumulate 60 points to call home once.
Instead, disobedient boys are put on prison uniforms and handcuffed and footcuffed to live in confinement rooms for weeks. The handcuffs were so tight that some children had cuts on their hands and feet. They would even be raped there by other children.
Bruce, suspected of stealing something by the staff, was handcuffed and dragged around the swamp by hanging from the back of a carriage. Placed in sleeping bags filled with cow dung, he was tied like a pig to a pole and beaten up the streets.
Disciplinary institutions support these children in the use of violence to solve problems, and they are also driven crazy by violence and oppression from instructors. Six weeks before the end of the camp, in order to get the government to shut down the camp, the children in the camp had even decided to kill themselves by drinking poisonous herbs by lottery so that they could attract attention from the outside world.
There are also some who plan to murder Bruce, who has lost his body, in exchange for the freedom of all people. Bruce escaped murder and eventually died in a car accident at the camp, and his death eventually led the police to disband the terrible training camp.
Like most children who attended similar activities, the children who joined bruce had severe PTSD, many attempted suicide, and some became addicted to drugs. Most are unable to integrate into society and lack trust in anyone. These months are more harmful than a decade in prison.
One might ask, why don't their parents sue those institutions?
In fact, families who choose to send their children to disciplinary institutions have a serious crisis of trust in the parent-child relationship. Some children told their parents the truth about the boot camp but were not believed, and some came back and did not communicate with their parents at all.
As Bruce's companions thought, there was only one way for parents to recognize the problem and sue the correctional agency, and that was when their children were killed.
Sending a son to death parents regret
Cynthia was one of the children who died in this institution. At the age of 15, she used to study well, but began to skip school due to depression, developed suicidal tendencies, and even began to take drugs. The family listened to the agent and sent her to a wilderness survival camp.
The family's starting point was entirely for Cynthia's good, and the agent said it understated: This project allows children to learn to be independent, strong, and able to help restore their mental state in the wild. They tricked Cynthia into getting into the car on the grounds of family travel and sent her to as far away as Nevada.
Despite Cynthia's strong resistance, she was taken away by the staff, and this was the last time the family saw Cynthia. Parents thought that a month later, it would be a "brand new" daughter who thought they would get a call from the funeral home.
The staff still downplayed and told them that Cynthia had an accident while hiking. The parents could not accept such an excuse and took several years of investigation to understand the truth of the matter.
It turned out that after Cynthia entered the camp, her depression worsened. But the devil's training camp, which only forces the child to climb the mountain every day, once tried to resist, but was punished as an "aggressive" bad boy. Almost dehydrated and had not eaten for several days, Cynthia, in a state of extreme fatigue, stumbled and rolled down the slopes of the mountain while climbing.
At first, she was in good shape, although the bleeding was severe and she could not move, but because her body was blocked by shrubs and rocks, she did not hurt her vital organs, and she had time to rescue her. But the staff didn't care about her distress and called in an emergency helicopter hours later.
When the helicopter came, the salvaged bodies were already unincorporated. It can be said that Cynthia was thrown there alive and waiting to die.
Similar to Cynthia, Aaron is sent by his family for rebellion into a wilderness survival program for misbehaving teenagers in southern Utah. The mother's biggest regret now is that she didn't hug Aaron before she left, because she never got another chance.
Thirty days later, she saw her son in the morgue, whose face was unrecognizable. His cheeks were sunken, his eyes were like skeletons, his hands were skinny and covered with bones, his body was bruised, even his toes and fingers were blue and purple, and there were ulcerated sores between his legs. The cause of death was acute peritonitis, a type of gastrointestinal ulcer.
A few hours before Aaron's death
Prosecutors found that Aaron had not eaten any food for at least 11 of the last 20 days of his life. And on an average of 0°C wilderness nights, he was not allowed to sleep in a sleeping bag by the staff for 14 consecutive nights as punishment for his disobedience. For so many days, no one cared if he was sick or not, as long as he fell, he had to continue to move forward.
These institutions are essentially no different from prisons, where they think that the young people sent in are wastes who deserve to be taught a lesson, and that only obedience to orders is good. If you're sick, they think you're pretending to be trying to escape, so it's inevitable to be abused here, and it's only a matter of probability that you're dying.
Due to the closed environment and legal loopholes, they know that they can rely on the agreement signed by the parents, in the name of "treatment" and "military training", without paying a serious legal price after harming the child. Even if the price is paid, it may only be a top bag for staff, while the institution still swings its enrollment.
For example, the company that killed Aaron had 7 employees who were criminally liable, and the company continued to operate as usual. The huge market has spawned more concentration camp-like schools.
While there has never been evidence that correctional schools, such as wilderness camps, are effective in regulating juvenile behavior, parents remain hopeful about any way to change their children. We can't eliminate parental anxiety forever, but at least regulation and law can avoid more tragedies.
