At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, our Party was faced with a grim international situation. The capitalist countries headed by the United States have constantly attacked our country and even launched wars. In the face of the unreasonable provocations of the hegemonic countries, although New China has just been founded, it will never succumb to the hegemonic countries. When the United States extended its hand to the DPRK without authorization in an attempt to curb China's development, our party and people were not afraid and resolutely began to resist us and aid Korea. For New China, this is a battle of great importance. In the end, the victorious return of the volunteer army drove the then powerful country, the United States, out of Korea, which greatly strengthened the faith of the Chinese people and gave people great self-confidence.
If the Korean Campaign was a disaster brought to New China by the capitalist hegemonic countries, then the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam was another disaster brought by the socialist hegemonic countries to China, which was just starting out. The international situation is fickle, and exchanges between countries are based on national interests first. The relationship between New China and the Soviet Union illustrates this truth. Before the founding of New China and the 1970s of the last century, the relations between New China and the Soviet Union were friendly, and the Soviet Union, as a relatively advanced country at that time, did provide a lot of help to New China.
But in the late Soviet Union, hegemonism was strong, interfering in our internal affairs at will, and demanding that our country must obey the "will" of the Soviet Union in some respects. After a long period of hard work, from the end of feudalism to the founding of New China, China has always longed for independence and self-reliance. Therefore, since the 1970s, the relations between our country and the Soviet Union have become cold and tense.
Because our country resolutely did not accept the Soviet Union's finger-pointing, it annoyed the Soviet Union, and the Soviet Union retaliated against New China from two major aspects. First, it has caused serious trauma to China's domestic construction and withdrawn a large number of experts to assist China, resulting in China having to start from scratch and develop from scratch in many fields. The second is to create a grim international environment for China, and the Soviet Union has provoked relations between neighboring countries and China, and even more so has provoked war between Vietnam and china. The reason why Vietnam was provoked by the Soviet Union was firstly from the Soviet Union and from Vietnam itself, at this time Vietnam's internal instability, especially after the death of Ho Chi Minh, vietnam's political power gradually came into the hands of a group of people who saw profit and forgot righteousness, they betrayed new China, and constantly disrupted China's borders.
On the question of whether to send troops to Vietnam, our party and country are faced with a dilemma. Vietnam's provocation made the new China at that time feel very embarrassed, because China at that time was not long after its establishment, it was in need of recuperation, and after experiencing the Korean War, it was not easy to fall into the quagmire of war again. Moreover, this is the trouble caused by the Soviet Union to our country, and once the war is launched against Vietnam, the Soviet Union may form a pinch attack on China from the north. The representatives who supported the non-dispatch of troops included Marshal Ye Jianying and General Su Yu.
However, the most profound influence on the final decision was Comrade Chen Yun's remarks. Comrade Chen Yun resolutely advocated a counterattack. At a meeting, Comrade Chen Yun believed that there was only one reason why it was necessary to fight back against Vietnam, that is, to teach Vietnam a lesson and let them know that China is not a good bully. On top of the strategy, Comrade Tran Yun believes that it is necessary to send troops quickly and take advantage of the fact that the Vietnamese army is proud of its troops. Comrade Deng Xiaoping very much agreed with Comrade Chen Yun's proposal. Because in Comrade Deng Xiaoping's view, for new China, the most important thing is to be able to stand on the international footing and let other countries no longer despise China. China's counterattack against Vietnam was not only against Vietnam and the Soviet Union, but also a warning to those hostile to China.
In the end, Comrade Chen Yun's proposition was endorsed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping, and under a series of preparations, China launched a self-defense counterattack against Vietnam. Beginning on February 17, 1979, China won in less than a month. The victory in the war of self-defense and counterattack against Vietnam is of great significance to enhancing China's international status, enabling New China to win more opportunities for peaceful development and providing important historical opportunities for the development of reform and opening up. New China has fully drawn on the lessons of this blood and tears, and since then, it has continuously enhanced its national strength and safeguarded its national dignity at all times.
