Six-star Admiral Hong Xuezhi: The logistical support on the Korean battlefield is the envy of the US military

When the Korean War broke out in 1950, the Chinese volunteer army fought heroically on the Korean battlefield, but the days did not follow the wishes of the people at that time, and there was heavy water in all parts of Korea at that time, resulting in logistical difficulties for our army. Hong Xuezhi was entrusted with the responsibility of the logistics of the volunteer army and led the troops to overcome all difficulties with one heart and one mind, so that the logistical dispute between our army and the united army left the enemy behind. Seeing the volunteers wearing new clothes and holding new equipment during the battle made the Coalition army envious.

Hong Xuezhi, a native of Jinzhai, Anhui, joined him in 1929 when the Red Army passed by his hometown.

After that, he participated in the Shangnan Uprising with the troops, and the troops were reorganized into the Fourth Front Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. During this period, he participated in the creation of the Eyu-Anhui revolutionary base area and many anti-"encirclement and suppression" struggles, And Hong Xuezhi was not afraid to sacrifice every battle, charged forward, completed combat tasks many times, and was rated as the Red Fourth Front By the Party Branch

One of the 3 exemplary branches

In 1939, the Party Central Committee decided to transfer the Kang Da General School to the southeastern Jin, and after careful consideration, decided to divide the troops into two parts: the first part was led by the brigade commander Nie Fengzhi to more than 100 cadres to Shandong to strengthen the first branch. The second part, led by Hong Xuezhi, 270 cadres went to the New Fourth Army to establish the Fifth Branch School.

Since then, Hong Xuezhi has led 270 people from Pulshui Town to cross the six provinces of Jin, Hebei, Lu, Henan, Anhui and Suzhou. After the outbreak of the Anhui Incident in southern Anhui, Hong Xuezhi led cadres to block the invading Japanese puppet army at Weishan Lake for two months.

At the same time, help local training party members and militia. In the end, it successfully arrived at the headquarters of the New Fourth Army in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, and no one in the whole team was sacrificed, which was highly praised by political commissar Liu Shaoqi and acting commander Chen Yi. Later, people called this operation a "small long march behind enemy lines."

In December 1942, when the Japanese army carried out a large-scale sweep of the anti-Japanese base area in northern Jiangsu, Hong Xuezhi served as the chief of staff of the Third Division of the New Fourth Army, assisted the division commander Huang Kecheng in commanding the summer offensive operation, smashed the enemy's encirclement and suppression of our base area, and severely damaged the large-scale Japanese puppet army's living forces, and maintained the security of the anti-Japanese base area in northern Jiangsu.

After the outbreak of the Liberation War, Hong Xuezhi was transferred to the Northeast Field Army, during which he led the team to carry out three battles in the south of the Jiangsu Province, and then cooperated with Mr. Lin to liberate the Siping area, making great achievements for the liberation of the entire northeast. In the Battle of Pingjin in 1948, Hong Xuezhi led the leading troops to cut off the connection between Tianjin City and the outside world, personally led the troops to participate in the Tianjin Offensive Battle, and contributed to the victory of the Pingjin Campaign.

Six-star Admiral Hong Xuezhi: The logistical support on the Korean battlefield is the envy of the US military

When the Korean War broke out in 1950, in October Chinese Volunteer Army crossed the Yalu River and rushed to the Korean battlefield. In June 1951, Hong Xuezhi was appointed as the commander of the Logistics Command of the Chinese Volunteer Army, responsible for the logistics of the Volunteer Army. At this time, during the once-in-40-year flood disaster in North Korea, Chinese trains could not reach North Korea at all, and 50 percent of North Korea's highways and bridges had been washed away by floodwaters.

This was even worse for the volunteer army, which was already materially scarce, and the front-line troops had no food to eat, and the second-line troops lived by digging wild vegetables all day long.

After Hong Xuezhi took office, he set up logistics personnel; at the West Qingchuan River Bridge, the East Datong River Bridge, and the East Boiling River Bridge, Hong Xuezhi and the US military launched a race against time to blow up the bridge and repair the bridge; the enemy blew up during the day, the volunteer army repaired it at night, and immediately transported it after repairing it, and concentrated more than 1,000 cars to repeatedly transport, receive, and transport 2,000 wagons of materials.

Hong Xuezhi invented in the state of war "one-sided transportation, merger operation, top cattle crossing the river, pawn team, underwater bridge, crawling bridge, contract road construction method" and other methods. A total of 34,000 tons of material were rescued during the entire flood, effectively alleviating the food shortage of front-line troops. At the same time, Hong Xuezhi also suggested that General Manager Peng organize the second-line troops to go to the rear areas to rush to transport the troops' winter materials, so that the front-line troops could put on their winter clothes in a timely manner. American soldiers fighting on the front line found that the volunteers could wear winter clothes before they could put on winter clothes under such logistical difficulties.

Until May 1952, when there were continuous bombings by the United Nations Air Force on the outside and floods on the inside, Hong Xuezhi successfully led the volunteer army to establish a steel transportation line that "could not be continuously attacked, bombed and could not be broken", and stunned the US commanders who wanted to rely on the air force to destroy the logistics of our volunteer army.

In an interview with reporters from the US Eighth Army, Van Vliet said: Although the air force and navy of the coalition army have done everything in their power to try to block the supply of the Communist Party, the Communist Party still transported the materials to the front line with incredible tenacity and perseverance, creating a miracle in the world.

In 1955, Hong Xuezhi was awarded the rank of general, and in 1988, Hong Xuezhi was awarded the rank of general again, and he was also the only "six-star general" in the mainland.

On November 20, 2006, General Hong Xuezhi died of illness in Beijing.

Throughout his life, the general has struggled for the cause of the liberation of the motherland and the people, especially in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, which has accumulated valuable experience in our army's logistics support and made outstanding contributions to the continuous pioneering and innovative development of our army's logistics modernization in the new period. As a new teenager in the new era, we should inherit and carry forward the revolutionary spirit and contribute to the cause of the motherland's construction.
