The volunteers once had one! The "little girl" in this photo tells the story behind it

After many postponements, the Military Museum of the Chinese Revolution "Remembering the Great Victory and Defending Peace and Justice -- Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Chinese Volunteer Army's War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea" closed on the 16th. However, the audience who has not yet had time to visit should not regret that the online exhibition hall of the same name is still open for display, and the military expo will also prepare for the basic exhibition of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea on the basis of the theme exhibition, and will be permanently opened in the museum.

The exhibition opened on October 19, 2020, and during 419 open days, a total of 2.4 million visitors came to visit the Expo. The exhibition exhibited more than 1900 exhibits, including nearly 100 first-class cultural relics, and more than 800 cultural relics were exhibited for the first time. The exhibition features a photograph that was once all the rage, the driving force behind the volunteers' charge: in the photograph, the little boy with the peace dove in his arms is holding his head sideways, proud and playful; the little girl next to her turns her face to face the boy and embraces the peace dove quietly and calmly. "Because of this photo, I have had a natural affinity with the volunteers all my life, feeling that they are my family." The heroine of the photo, Meng Yun, also came to the closing scene of the exhibition, and she was excited to see the enlarged version of the picture specially prepared by the organizers.

The photograph was prominently published in the People's Daily on June 1, 1952; it was later sent to the Korean battlefield with a copy of the volunteers' hands. Meng Yun once felt the inspiration brought by the photos to the soldiers from a letter from the volunteer army, which wrote, "Good child, study well, uncle is willing to use his own blood and life to kill american devils, and not let him bully children." May you grow as beautiful as a flower and as beautiful as a star. Recalling this, Meng Yun choked up a little, "We must be worthy of the sacrifices of our predecessors."

Fang Pusheng, a veteran of the Volunteer Army, also came to the scene to witness the closing of the exhibition with the audience, who participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea in 1953 and participated in the construction of the air command post in North Korea. "The exhibition inspires our descendants to continue to carry forward the spirit of hard struggle," deng Sui, a representative of the volunteer army's family and the son of General Deng Hua, was a little excited, "I feel as if I have returned to the era of war." He said that the exhibition is a deep tribute to the ancestors who fought bravely for us, allowing people to relive the glory of heroes.
