Strictly speaking, the Korean War was originally a civil war, but because South Korea was so disadvantaged in this war, the war did not start for long, and South Korean President Syngman Rhee asked the United States for help. The United States originally wanted to invade the Asia-Pacific region and tried to balance the Soviet Union by controlling the Korean Peninsula, so it immediately formed a United Nations army to invade North Korea, but the leading power of the team was still in the hands of the US military.
It is precisely in this way that when the volunteer army goes to fight in North Korea, the opponent we face is not only the United States, but the entire "United Nations Army" in fact. In fact, the UN forces are only under the guise of UN peacekeeping, they have nothing to do with the UN, and they do not have legitimacy, and the roles played by the members of the UN are actually similar to the "thugs" hired by the United States. At that time, the United States had a great cause and had great appeal in the international community, so the entire United Nations army included the strength of up to 16 countries.
In addition to the United States, the remaining 15 countries are: the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece, Turkey, Colombia, Thailand, the Philippines, the Commonwealth of South Africa and Ethiopia. In fact, although South Korea also contributed hundreds of thousands of troops in this war, they were not included in the United Nations army.
Troop allocation
First of all, the united States, which naturally sent the most troops, included 1 group army, 3 corps, 7 divisions and 1 regiment, with a total number of about 300,000. Although it may not seem like a large number of troops, there are ace units such as the 1st Marine Division and the 1st Cavalry Division, which are far more effective than the other 16 countries combined, and are the absolute main force in the Korean War.
In second place was the United Kingdom, with two brigades, numbering about fourteen thousand people, the third was Canada, with 6,300 people, and the second was the Turkish brigade, with almost 5,400 people. The remaining Australia, France, Thailand, the Philippines, Ethiopia, New Zealand and Greece are almost all around 1,000 to 2,000 people.
The rest of the country is even fewer, with Belgium and the Netherlands both sending around 700 people, and South Africa sending 150 people. In the end, Luxembourg only sent an infantry platoon of 44 people, but due to the relatively small number of people, Luxembourg was also the country with the highest casualties in the United Nations army. Of course, even with 17 countries, the volunteers still won the final victory, which is a very proud thing.
