Prose | Sun Dianpeng: Chen Yun asked for leave

In October 1969, Chen Yun was sent to Jiangxi Chemical and Petroleum Machinery Factory. In the factory, responsible for docking Chen Yun's work, is Ma Jun, director of the factory office.

Chen Yun was humble and easy-going. Ma Jun called him "chief", and he called Ma Jun, who was in his thirties, "old horse". Chen Yun said that he had come to "receive re-education of the working class" and often went to the workers to study and communicate together. His speech is concise and humorous, his attitude is kind and pragmatic, and he is very loved by everyone. A worker specially made a small maza for Chen Yun, and Chen Yun took it wherever he went. He said happily: "I will take this maza back to Beijing and tell Chairman Mao that this is what the master workers did for me!" ”

By the time he left in April 1972, Chen Yun had held more than 100 symposia alone. During the discussion and exchange, Chen Yun found that the factory was too much affected by the political movement at that time, and everyone's attention was focused on it, so he reminded that it should be studied and produced. He encouraged the telling of the truth, and at one point, a young worker said: "The Cultural Revolution has achieved the greatest and greatest achievements, and the smallest losses have been minimized." Chen Yun asked if it was his true words, and the young worker was embarrassed to say that he had seen it from the newspaper.

After several discussions, Ma Jun quickly found that Chen Yun's memory was amazing. As long as it is someone who has talked with him once, when he meets again, Chen Yun can always accurately call out the name of the other party; Ma Jun can't do it, and every time he has to look at the list and name it. In this regard, Ma Jun admired it. Chen Yun smiled and said, "Actually, I was trained." I can remember the names of more than 2,000 people in my 30s. You think, how can I do mass work and lead the troops without remembering the names of others? How do you do it? ”

One day, Ma Jun received a leave note: "Comrade Ma Jun, at 3 p.m. on the 24th today, the canteen team meeting, I can't participate due to something, please take leave." Tomorrow on the 25th, the canteen team meeting, I will attend on time, please tell the canteen comrades. Chen Yun, morning of the 23rd. This is written by Chen Yun himself, and the end of "23 days" is a clerical error, which should be the 24th.

Looking at this leave slip, Ma Jun was excited. Chen Yun did not have any shelf of the central chief, and his organization was very disciplined. In fact, he could completely let the secretary do the work for him and call Ma Jun. This leave slip was cherished by Ma Jun throughout his life.

Chen Yun is strict with himself and strict with his children.

In 1968, Chen Yun's youngest daughter, Chen Weihua, was assigned to Huairou to work as a primary school teacher in a commune. When she first went, she was homesick. Once, instead of a weekend, she braved the rain to walk a long mountain road and had a hard time getting back to her home in Beijing. Who knew that she had not taken a leave of absence, and what awaited her was not her father's welcome, but his serious criticism. Chen Yun said: "It is not easy for children in the countryside to go to school, and their homework is indispensable. You have to work there with peace of mind, teach well, cultivate good people, and be disciplined, don't be special, and make real achievements early. Chen Weihua nodded his head and said yes, and rushed back early the next morning. Since then, she has worked there steadily. When he returned home, Chen Weihua was busy running around, buying things for his colleagues and villagers. Chen Yun was very happy and praised her for being a gentle person.

Later, Chen Weihua was admitted to Beijing Normal University. After graduation, under the influence of Chen Yun, she voluntarily gave up her job with superior conditions in the government department and became an ordinary history teacher.

Chen Yun asked his children to achieve the "three no's": they were not allowed to sit in his car, they were not allowed to read his documents, and they were not allowed to enter his office; they also had to do two things well: read well and be good people. Chen Yun, who is a daily strategist, personally lists the required reading books for the children, follows the good examples, and guides the children to read. He often told his children the truth of being a man: to be a decent person, to be a person with a peaceful mind, and to be willing to be an ordinary person.

Although the requirements are strict, Chen Yun does not restrict the personality development of his children. The youngest son, Chen Fang, recalled his father: "He never deliberately let us live according to any standard, did not let us work according to the ideas he set, but created a relaxed growth environment for us." He used to tell us that we should 'not only be superior, not only books, but only reality'. ”
