About the Author

Ji Xianlin (6 August 1911 – 11 July 2009) was a Native of Linqing, Liaocheng City, Shandong Province, China. Internationally renowned orientalist, linguist, writer, sinologist, Buddhist scholar, historian, educator and social activist.

In his early years, he studied abroad, knew English, German, Sanskrit, Pali, could read Russian and French, especially proficient in Tocharian, and wrote three laureates before his death: a master of traditional Chinese studies, a titan of academic circles, and a national treasure.

At 11:10 on July 11, 2009, Ji Xianlin passed away at the age of 98.
