It is reported that the Chinese Native Folk Song Festival is held every two years, which is a cultural event that displays achievements, exchanges experiences and promotes innovative development in the field of protection and inheritance of traditional folk songs and traditional music intangible cultural heritage in China. This year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government jointly held the 2021 Chinese Native Folk Song Festival in Chongqing with the theme of "Singing a Beautiful New Life".

According to Hu Yan, deputy director of the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as an important part of intangible cultural heritage and an important carrier of the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, the 2021 Chinese Native Folk Song Festival will comprehensively display traditional folk songs from all regions and ethnic groups across the country, and build a platform for display, exchange and promotion of traditional folk songs and traditional music national intangible cultural heritage representative projects.

Hu Yan said that in the participating projects, some people are familiar with it, and some are circulating in specific areas and carrying local unique cultural memories and customs, such as canal boatman trumpets, sending lang tones, and Yimeng Mountain minor tunes. The non-genetic inheritors participating in the exercise will bring native folk songs into the communities where people live and the scenic spots of leisure tourism, so that the people can share the fruits of intangible cultural heritage protection, and will further stimulate the creative inspiration of non-genetic inheritors, enhance the enthusiasm for creation, and improve the inheritance and protection level of traditional music intangible cultural heritage projects.

In addition, in order to further strengthen the research and interpretation of native folk songs, experts and scholars in relevant fields across the country were invited to hold online academic seminars on native folk songs around the themes of "ontology research of native folk songs" and "inheritance and development of native folk songs". Zhu Mao said that the southeast region of Chongqing is also a national-level cultural and ecological protection experimental zone approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2014, and it is also a demonstration area for the integrated development of the cultural and tourism industry in Chongqing.
