Recently, the "Overview of China's World-Class Intangible Cultural Heritage" (multilingual foreign translation) (hereinafter referred to as the "Series"), presided over by Professor Yu Jiang, Vice President of our university, and edited and translated by many teachers, was successfully selected as a national publishing fund project after being applied for by China Three Gorges Publishing and Media Co., Ltd. (China Three Gorges Publishing House). China Three Gorges Publishing House will use the special fund to publish a hardcover edition of the series.
The series of books is an important achievement of the "13th Five-Year Plan" national key book publishing planning project "Overview of China's World-class Intangible Cultural Heritage (Multilingual Translation)", and is the first work in China to comprehensively promote China's world-class intangible cultural heritage project in a multilingual form. The book includes 40 world-class intangible cultural heritage projects in China, and has published 6 language versions in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, French and Spanish, mainly introducing the content, expression form, artistic characteristics and even the spiritual characteristics contained in China's world-class intangible cultural heritage to readers at home and abroad, further providing Chinese methods and experiences for the inheritance and protection of intangible cultural heritage, and is a practical exploration to promote Chinese culture to go global, tell Chinese stories well, and serve the capacity building of international communication.
The Chinese edition of the series is compiled by the teachers of the School of International Communication of our university, and the compilation of the foreign language version concentrates the elite forces of the Advanced Translation School, the Japanese Language School, the Asian and African Language School, the European Institute of Language and Culture, the School of General Education and the Institute of Comparative Literature, and many experts and scholars such as Zhang Xiaoxi, Li Jing, Zhao Hua, Jia Fang, Yin Ming and other experts and scholars to complete the translation. The publication of the series of books reflects the "new liberal arts" characteristics of the integration of foreign language and non-foreign language majors in our school, provides teaching materials for promoting the cultivation of new international communication talents, and further enhances the influence of the academic characteristics of our university's intangible cultural heritage. The school will take the opportunity of the series of books being selected into the National Publishing Fund project to carefully plan and create more foreign translation works, make new and greater contributions to the dissemination of Excellent Chinese traditional culture and let the world understand China, and welcome the victory of the 20th National Congress of the Party with practical actions.
