Bai Ruitong was born on January 14, 1937 in a peasant family outside Deshengmen, Beijing. In 1951, the newly established Central Film Bureau Performing Arts Research Institute (the predecessor of the Beijing Film Academy) acting second class enrollment, after learning the news, just 14 years old, hard-working, like to perform, Bai Ruitong signed up for the exam, and was fortunate to be admitted.
In addition to Bai Ruitong and Sun Ao, who later became her husband, the students in this class also included Li Yalin, He Xiaoshu, Zhao Lian, Shi Meifen, An Zhenjiang, Ye Linlang, Wu Yumei, Zhou Senguan, Sun Yu, An Qi, Ma Shida, Yu Wenzhong, Liu Shaoquan, Guan Chen, Li Dade and others. While studying, Sun Ao secretly fell in love with the beautiful Bai Ruitong.
Two years later, in 1953, Bai Ruitong and Sun Ao and other students were assigned to the Beijing Film Actors Troupe, the predecessor of the Beijing Film Studio. Soon after she arrived, she was photographed by director Suri of the long film studio because of her beautiful appearance and generous demeanor, so that she played the role of Cuiping girl in "Plain Guerrilla" starring Guo Zhenqing, a handsome and lively girl image, which made the audience feel very fresh.
At the end of 1954, after more than a year of love in Beiying, Bai Ruitong married Sun Ao. The next year, the couple gave up the better conditions of the North Shadow, and chose to go north to Changchun without hesitation, becoming the actors of the long shadow.
In the 50s, Bai Ruitong successively starred in and participated in films such as "Mother Wants Me to Marry", "National Day Ten O'Clock", "Footsteps of Youth", "Silent Mountain Forest", "Ancient Temple Bells", "Grassland Morning Song", "Spring Water And Long Stream" and so on.
Among them, Bai Ruitong played the female number one Li Yuchun in the 1956 release of "Mother Wants Me to Marry", and the object she wanted to marry was Liu Minghua, played by Liu Shilong, who was "Wang Cheng".
In the 1957 film "Silent Mountain Forest", she cooperated with Wang Xingang, in which Wang Xingang starred in the male number one Feng Guangfa, and Bai Ruitong played his wife Li Ping.
Although Bai Ruitong does not play much in the movie, she has intimate shots with her "husband" Wang Xingang. Later, when it came to the kissing scene, Bai Ruitong said: "At that time, I was very nervous and shy, and I was also worried, and the pressure was very great. In the 1960s, Bai Ruitong has participated in films such as "Two Families" and "Heroes and Children". In the preparation of "Heroes and Children", the earliest "Wang Fang" candidate of the crew was not Liu Shangxian, but Bai Ruitong.
However, due to the fact that Bai Ruitong was too beautiful, coupled with the accidental discovery of Liu Shangxian, who was more in line with the requirements of the script in terms of appearance and temperament, Bai Ruitong regrettably played a supporting role with few scenes - tian Ling, a female literary troupe member who has been with Wang Fang.
After the 1980s, Bai Ruitong successively participated in films such as "Proud Mother", "Residual Snow", "Sword light tiger shadow", "Green Wallet", "Meet", "No. 5 Garden Street", "Lost Companion", "Liberation" and other films, but almost all of them were supporting roles.
In the late 1980s, in order to fully support her husband Sun Ao's work and take care of children and the elderly, Bai Ruitong faded out of the film world.
Sun Ao is a first-class voice actor of Changying, who has starred in films such as "Ji Hongchang", "General Sabre", "Plain Guerrilla", "Three Into the Mountain City", "Bear Trace" and so on, but his main artistic achievement is film dubbing, representative works include "Loyalty", "Resurrection", "Grand Duke Stefan", "Butterfly Dream", "Eternal Love", "Two People's Station" and so on.
Mr. and Mrs. Bai Ruitong have a pair of children, the son is the long film voice actor Sun Jiahe, and the daughter Sun Bai is a film producer.
On February 15, 2013, performing artist Bai Ruitong died of lung cancer in Changchun, Jilin Province, at the age of 76.
