Speaking of the name Liu Xiaoguo, everyone may be confused, but if you talk about the correspondent Xiao Liu in "Heroes and Children", although he is only a supporting role, everyone must remember it vividly.
Because as the guard of Director Wang played by Tian Fang, Xiao Liu is almost inseparable from the chief, whether it is Wang Cheng writing a diary to learn from Wang Cheng after his sacrifice, or taking the initiative to go to the front line to fight the enemy, he is very appropriate.
Liu Xiaoguo was born in Beijing in June 1945 with his ancestral home in Hebei. In 1952, he came to Guangzhou with his father who went south, and successively studied in Guangzhou Yucai Primary School and Guangzhou Xiguan Shimin Primary School.
When he was 14 years old, the Pearl River Film Studio Actors Secondary School class recruited students, he borrowed a dime from the teacher to follow his classmates to the exam, because of his cleverness, he was hired, but he was both the youngest student in the class and the least educated student, because at that time, he had not yet attended junior high school.
In 1962, after graduating, Liu Xiaoguo was assigned to the Zhuying Actor Troupe and became a film actor.
Coming to Zhuying, Liu Xiaoguo starred in his first film, directed by Fang Lan and starring Ma Yi, Zhang Ziliang and Li Jianlin, in which he made a cameo appearance as a small warrior.
In 1963, Changying decided to shoot the film "Reunion" adapted from Wang Yuanjian's novel "Relatives". When casting actors in the country, director Guo Wei took a fancy to Liu Xiaoguo, but the film was stopped for some reason.
However, before the Spring Festival in 1964, Changying also informed Liu Xiaoguo to come to Changchun. He thought that "Reunion" had been lifted. To his surprise, when he arrived at Long Shadow, the script given to him by the film crew, although also called "Reunion", became the script of the same name based on Barkin's novel "Reunion", and after the filming of the film, it was officially renamed "Heroes and Children".
An unforgettable section in the movie is that in order to rescue Wang Fang, who was seriously injured, Liu Xiaoguo, played by Xiao Liu, and Uncle Kim of North Korea, played by Pu Ke, and Park Zhenzi, played by Zhao Wenyu, jumped into the big river with ice and waist, braved the indiscriminate bombardment of enemy planes, and sacrificed their lives to carry Wang Fang across the river on a stretcher.
Since the role played by Liu Xiaoguo is the correspondent of "Director Wang" played by Tian Fang, wherever the chief goes, Xiao Liu will follow him. Therefore, during and in the days after filming, he and Tian Fang formed a deep friendship like a father. Every time Tian Fang went to Guangzhou, he had to meet his "correspondent." Liu Xiaoguo also entrusted someone to send a basket of sweet and delicious lychees to Tian Fang and Yu Lan when the lychees in the southern country were ripe in May and June every year.
After returning to Zhuying after filming "Heroes and Children", Liu Xiaoguo was ready to play a farmer named Xiaohu in the film "Stepping Through the Green Mountains". But the big movement of the 1960s came, and many films, including "Treading on the Green Mountains," were discontinued.
In 1975, Liu Xiaoguo returned to the Pearl Film Studio and played the role of a calf in "Restless Days" directed by Yu Deshui and starring Tian Dan and Zhang Jie.
In 1980, Liu Xiaoguo was transferred to the Radio Literature and Art Department of Guangdong Television Station as a radio director, and later became a television director, who directed TV series or TV short dramas such as "Foreign Daughter-in-law Local Lang", "Bride Crossing the Port", "Choice", "Riverside People's Home", "Hongqiao Love", "Sha Li Brothers", "Happy Two Four Tastes", "Old Cat Burning Whiskers", "Big Talk Huang Feihong", "Weiwu Renjia" and other TV series or TV short dramas, creating many local TV classics in Guangdong.
In 2000, Liu Xiaoguo was paralyzed in the lower body due to lumbar spinal stenosis disease, and because he did not know whether he could stand up later, he applied for internal retirement, at that time, he was just 55 years old. Fortunately, he later got back on his feet.
Unfortunately, on May 25, 2013, the well-known actor and director Liu Xiaoguo died of an unexpected operation at the age of 68.
