Yu Lan (formerly known as Yu Peiwen), born in 1921 in Xiuyan County, Liaoning Province, has many brothers and sisters. Her parents were in business and came from a relatively privileged family.

One day when it was raining, Yu Lan coaxed her brother to say that she was going to buy an umbrella and go home in a moment, and said that she would come back to bring a bag of Tianxiang beans to her brother.
Yu Lan's younger brother was only 10 years old at the time, and he believed his sister's words, so he waited at the door until it was dark, and his sister Yu Lan did not return. It turned out that Yu Lan and Zhao Shufeng had gone to the revolution.
Both grandparents and parents blamed Yu Lan's younger brother for not taking good care of his sister, and the younger brother blamed himself very much and became seriously ill.

In 1938, after Yu Lan ran away from home, he came to the Zhaitang Anti-Japanese Base Area in Mentougou. Escorted by an anti-Japanese team, she and more than a dozen enthusiastic young people crossed the Blockade Line of the Japanese Kou and lasted more than 50 days, and finally arrived in Yan'an, northern Shaanxi, on October 24, 1938.

Tian Fang was 10 years older than Yu Lan, born in 1911 in Gegu, Tianjin, his father died of illness when he was very young, and his widowed mother raised Tian Fang and his brother on a pension.
After graduating from Tianfang High School, he was admitted to Fu Jen University in Peiping, where he actively participated in the patriotic student movement. After the outbreak of the "September 18 Incident", Tian Fang was forced to drop out of school due to his family's poverty.
In 1932, Tian Fang came to Shanghai to make a living. Because of his handsome appearance and Yushu Linfeng, he entered the film industry and successively starred in films such as "Fang Yunying", "Fei Shu", "Little Girl" and so on.
In 1938, Tian Fang defected to Yan'an and also entered Luyi to study.
In 1936, when Yu Lan was still in middle school, he was impressed by Tian Fang's handsomeness and superb acting skills in the film "Top Gun". In Yan'an, Yu Lan watched the drama "Sunrise" starring Tian Fang, and Tian Fang became her idol.

Yu Lan shed tears for this, and also had a stumble with Tian Fang. Later, Yu Lan conquered the two stepsons with love and patience, and they loved each other as mother and son.

In order to prepare for the establishment of a new Chinese film base, in 1946, under the arrangement of the organization, Tian Fang risked his life to transport the equipment of the Northeast Film Studio to Hegang and re-established the Northeast Film Studio (the predecessor of the Changchun Film Studio).

After the script came out, they reported to Xia Yan, the vice minister of culture at the time, who felt that Sister Jiang should be the protagonist. A week later, Xia Yan wrote a new script, which was the version of the film "Eternal Life in the Fire" that everyone later became familiar with.
In 1965, "Eternal Life in the Fire" was released nationwide, and "Sister Jiang" played by Yu Lan made the audience revere, heartbroken, and cry. In 1981, Yu Lan was 60 years old and ready to retire. But the authorities imposed a heavy responsibility on her, allowing her to set up a Chinese children's film studio.
Yu Lan accepted this heavy responsibility and began to form a team, find office space, and coordinate all aspects of the relationship. In order to grab time, Yu Lan works more than ten hours a day, and lunch is often a cup of warm boiled water and a loaf of bread.
On June 1, 1981, the China Children's Film Studio was officially established, and Yu Lan served as the first director.
At that time, Yu Lan was working in a few bungalows behind the Beijing Film Studio, and the conditions were very simple. The houses are one after the other, forming a narrow alley.
It is in such a difficult environment that since 1982, China Children's Film Studio has successively launched many children's films such as "Red Elephant", "Maga and Ling Fei", "Sonata of the Little Hedgehog" and so on, which are well received by children and have won many international and domestic awards.
