It is rumored that the price of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will rise further, and mobile phone manufacturers are facing pricing pressure

On May 19, according to foreign media WCCFtech reports, Qualcomm is expected to officially release a new generation of flagship mobile platform Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October this year, which will use Qualcomm's customized Oryon CPU core for the first time, but this high price may put a lot of pressure on partners.

According to a leaker, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will use the same TSMC N3E process as Apple's M4 and A18 Pro, and the performance and energy efficiency will be improved, but the price will also rise further, or more than $250, and smartphone manufacturers may have to evaluate the overall configuration of the device to control costs due to price competitiveness.

Chris Patrick, senior vice president of Qualcomm, has previously hinted that the price of the chip will increase due to the use of self-developed Oryon CPU cores.

According to previous revelations, the cost of mobile phone manufacturers to purchase Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has reached $200, which is quite expensive, and if the subsequent Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is more expensive, then mobile phone manufacturers may need to sacrifice profits to obtain more shipments.

Redmi launched the K70 Pro last year, which is one of the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagships to date, but if the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is more expensive, even Redmi will struggle to maintain the previous generation pricing.
