In 2022, various automakers will launch no less than 120 new models. In order to give everyone a better understanding of the consumer trend in the German market, we have compiled information on the most important relevant models.
Audi A8
In early 2021, Audi began to modernize the appearance of its flagship product, with digital matrix LED headlights with high-resolution micromirror technology on the front face, OLED lights on the rear, and upgraded driver assistance and infotainment systems in the interior. The engine types offered (V6 diesel, V6/V8 petrol and plug-in hybrid) remain the same, but in the Chinese market it is an ultra-luxurious extended version.
BMW 2系 Active Tourer
The new compact station wagon, based on the UKL II front-wheel-drive architecture, was launched in April with a 16.3 kWh high-voltage battery under the floor instead of the previous 10.0 kWh high-voltage battery. Similar to the all-electric range (80 km), the fuel tank of the future hybrid version will increase from less than 36 liters to 47 liters. In addition, the length of the body is increased by only 3 centimeters, and the width and height are increased by 2 centimeters. As a five-seater model, depending on the drive type, it offers 406 to 470 litres of luggage compartment space as well as a standard backrest with adjustable rear seat angle and electric tailgate. Inside the cockpit, a large curved display consisting of a digital instrument cluster and infotainment system is touch-controllable, derived from the iX as is the entire electronic architecture. Engine types range from a 136 hp three-cylinder petrol engine in the 218i (from 34 750 euros) to a plug-in hybrid four-cylinder engine with a system total power of 326 hp in the 230e xDrive, all mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
BMW M3 Touring Travel Edition
From the end of 2022, the Audi RS 4 Avant and Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63 T are no longer one of the few high-performance models in the mid-level station wagon segment, as BMW will launch the M3 Touring version for the first time. Like the Audi sedan and M4, behind the huge double kidney grille is a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine, which is only available in the 510-horsepower Composite edition, matching all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Although the front face follows the design of the sedan, and the rear and doors are designed as a station wagon, the rear wheel arches and chassis settings are new. Of course, the M3 Touring Edition also features an updated infotainment system, and all three cars will be remodeled in July.
BMW X1
The revolution in the front-wheel drive platform and three-cylinder engine in 2015 did not affect the popularity of BMW's smallest SUV, so BMW released its third generation (from November onwards). Technically, the changes from the UKL II to the electronic architecture are similar to those of the new 2-Series Active Tourer, including three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel models, as well as plug-in hybrid models. With paddle shifters, the dual-clutch transmission is always part of the standard configuration, and all-wheel drive is only used in more powerful models. The new X2 is not expected to be available until 2023.
Range Rover
Land Rover has pledged a full 24 percent reduction. Is it weight, fuel consumption, or price? None of them. Instead, the enclosed front panel reduces the noise inside the car. Other technical highlights include the rear wheels can be turned up to 7.3° in the opposite direction and the option of up to 7 seats is optional. Two plug-in hybrid derivatives with a range of 100 km will be introduced, three diesel models and two gasoline models.
Honda HR-V
Although this Honda SUV is not as large as the previous generation, the base price has increased from 21 900 euros to 30 400 euros. This four-door model is more versatile (LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and automatic air conditioning) and is only available in hybrid models. Fuel consumption per 100 km under WLTP conditions is only 5.4 liters.
Alfa Romeo Tonale
In May, the Alfa Romeo family will have new members on board, coming from the mid-size sedan Giulia and SUV Stelvio. Both are less than 4.70 meters long and built on the same platform, using rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive respectively. This new compact SUV is about the same length as the previous Giulietta (4.35 meters), but 10 centimeters taller than it. In terms of chassis technology and drive technology, Tonale uses the technology of the American sister company of the Stellantis Group, and is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system from the Jeep Guide. In addition to diesel models, gasoline models are expected, as well as more powerful all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrids.
Citroen C5 X
Unlike traditional sedans and station wagons, the C5 X features a crossover design that breaks with tradition. Thanks to its high ground clearance, the 4.81-metre-long, Chinese-made streamlined body allows it to easily pass through country roads and bumpy paths. The luggage compartment opening is wide and has a volume of 545 litres and can be extended up to a maximum of 1640 litres. Large panoramic sunroofs bring more light to the spacious interior. The front part of the car adopts the X-shaped daytime running light design, which is highly recognizable. In terms of power, a plug-in hybrid system with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder (130 hp) engine or a 225 hp output and a pure electric range of 50 km starts at 35,730 euros.
Dacia Jogger
After launching the Dokker with sliding door design in the back row, Dacia once again followed the design concept of the first Logan MCW concept car with the launch of the new Jogger. On top of the Sandero, the body length of this station wagon has been increased by 46 centimeters, and the roof is slightly raised. The five-seater version has a maximum load capacity of 1,819 litres when the rear seats are folded. Two three-cylinder petrol engine models will also be introduced, starting at €13,990.
Fiat Ulysse
Fiat is a familiar brand, and Ulysse is a concept car that sounds familiar to everyone: Fiat has once again partnered with PSA to develop a third-generation van, which shares technology with Citroën Spacetourer and Peugeot Traveller. The model can be equipped with 6 to 9 seats, and will be available in diesel and electric versions.
Ford Fiesta
Ford began offering carnivals to dealers and users in February. The new car is equipped with AN LED headlight group as standard, and some high-end models can install matrix LED headlights according to user needs. The new car also adds a false road warning function, which warns vehicles before they are about to enter a prohibited or wrong road. The base price of the 75 hp two-door model rose by 250 euros to 14,600 euros. The st.- cars with a maximum power of 200 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm start at 27 750 euros.
Ford Toureo Connect
This van MPV model is the product of cooperation with Volkswagen, and the body shape is similar to volkswagen Caddy. The side sliding door design of the Tourrino Connect is very practical. Available in two body lengths and a seven-seater model. In addition to the 1.5-liter gasoline (114 hp) model, there are also 102 hp or 122 hp 2.0-litre diesel models to choose from, and the more powerful one can also use an all-wheel drive system.
Geniseith GV60
This compact crossover from a high-end Korean automaker is based on Hyundai Group's Global Electric Module Platform (E-GMP) and features 800-volt fast charging technology. The all-wheel-drive, high-performance models feature 160 kW electric motors at the front and rear axles, and the pre-sensing electronically controlled suspension automatically adjusts the damping of the suspension. JEEP Grand Cherokee
In the European market, the large Jeep with V8 engine and diesel engine is obsolete. The length of the new car has been increased to 4.91 meters, and a plug-in hybrid model will be launched from April. Using a combination of 2.0T gasoline engine and dual electric motors, the system power is 375 horsepower and the pure electric mileage is 40 kilometers. Thanks to the air suspension, the ground clearance can be increased to 287 mm.
Kia Sportage
The fifth-generation compact SUV will be available in early 2022. The length of the European model was increased to 4.52 meters, and the luggage compartment volume was 591 to 1780 liters. In terms of power configuration, the new Tucson, the sister model launched a year ago, will launch two diesel models and hybrid and plug-in hybrid models with an output of 150 to 265 horsepower (plug-in hybrid models).
Mitsubishi Outlander
This eye-catching SUV will also be available in Europe. The exact technical data is unknown, but it is clear that both the 2.5-liter light hybrid gasoline model and the plug-in hybrid model launched by the United States and Japan will be available. The former is front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the latter has a pure electric range of about 90 kilometers.
Nissan Aria
Although Nissan's crossover pure electric coupe SUV will be launched a little later, it will launch a number of derivative models. The entry-level model has a maximum power of 160 kWh and is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 63 kWh, while the model with a maximum power of 178 kWh is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 87 kWh (both front-wheel drive). The e-4ORCE is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 87 kWh and a maximum power of 225 kW or 290 kW.
