At the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2021, Changan Automobile held a strategic press conference to comprehensively transform and upgrade into an intelligent low-carbon technology travel company. In June 2021, Changan officially released the Blue Whale iDD hybrid system to meet the needs of users in the "full speed domain, full field domain, full temperature domain, and full time domain", aiming to become the best global hybrid solution between fuel and pure electricity. In March 2022, the Blue Whale iDD was officially launched on the UNI-K iDD.
In order to further deepen the development of the new energy field, in April 2022, the 2022 Changan Automobile Global Partnership Conference was held in Chongqing, and Changan Automobile officially released the latest strategic plan of the enterprise composed of seven key actions and the new digital pure electric brand "Changan Deep Blue", further deepening the transformation of intelligent and low-carbon travel technology companies. Whale Flying Sky is the first stop of the Blue Whale iDD hard core series of challenges, after unprecedented rigorous testing, UNI-K iDD perfectly passed 3 extreme challenges, for consumers to fully show the hard core strength of the Blue Whale iDD hybrid system.
Whale hearts - free landing
The challenge rule is that the vehicle starts from a standstill full of oil in front of the upside-down water balloon, and the sharp object on the roof will cut through the water balloon at the moment the vehicle passes, such as the water in the balloon is not poured on the body in large quantities, which is a successful challenge. This challenge tests the lightning-fast response and momentum of blue whale iDD's start.5
Blue Whale iDD starts with pure electricity, relying on 85kW of motor peak power and 330Nm peak torque, as well as milliseconds of motor peak torque response, the initial acceleration is very rapid. The UNI-K iDD equipped with blue whale iDD is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 125kW, a maximum torque of 260 Nm, an acceleration time of 8.1 s per 100 km/ h, and a top speed of 200 km/h, allowing the driver to be in a leading position with every departure and acceleration.
The hybrid-specific high-performance Blue Whale engine continues the excellent DNA of the Blue Whale's efficient agile combustion system, and adopts a series of new technologies such as Agile Agile Combustion System, Intelligent Thermal Management System, Miller Circulation, intelligent Lubrication System and so on. At the same time, the P2 technical route of the Blue Whale iDD performs better in full-speed domain scenarios such as long-term climbing, high-speed overtaking and maximum speed, and the power consistency is not significantly attenuated even at low power. The peak torque response of the motor in the millisecond level can reach 0.6g in the initial stage, and the fastest acceleration time of the platform for 100 kilometers is 6s+.
Whale Battle - Bumpy Road Section
The challenge rules are for vehicles to pass through rough roads such as cobblestone roads, broken roads, bumpy roads, etc., and challenge people to complete the maze ball challenge in the car. This challenge tests the smoothness of the continuous power output of the Blue Whale iDD and the stability of the body.
The Blue Whale iDD hybrid system equipped with UNI-K iDD has excellent NVH performance, and with the help of the high-efficiency Blue Whale triple-clutch electric drive transmission, the output of the two power sources that are already powerful and energetic is more smooth and delicate and silky. Coupled with the combination of the previous McPherson independent suspension and the rear multi-link independent suspension, the vibration filter ability is extremely strong, the tire trackability is good, the strength empowers the driving quality, and brings the user a smooth and comfortable driving experience.
Based on changan automobile national key laboratory of vibration and noise, the R&D process conducts multi-round experiments on power NVH, acoustic design, and wind noise design, and adopts up to 26 kinds of acoustic materials and more than 150 mute schemes for the whole vehicle. At the same time, the motor S-winding winding technology effectively shortens the stator length of the motor, reduces the complexity and cost of production, and the distributed winding brings better cooling effect and reduces torque ripple. Not only does it have higher motor power density, higher motor efficiency, but also further reduces noise, so that the Blue Whale iDD hybrid system equipped with UNI-K iDD has excellent NVH performance.
Whale out of the sky - conquer the extreme slope
The challenge rule is to drive a vehicle to impact the 30% and 40% limit ramps of the Chang'an Automobile Mat River Proving Ground, and the corresponding slope angles of the ramps reach 16.5° and 21.8° respectively, and the slope is accompanied by the increase of height and slope, and the challenge difficulty increases exponentially, which tests the low torsional output performance of the Blue Whale iDD.
The Blue Whale iDD equipped with UNI-K iDD adopts the Blue Whale NE1.5T hybrid special engine and the Blue Whale triple-clutch electric drive transmission, with a maximum transmission efficiency of 97%, and the comprehensive torque of the system can reach up to 590 Nm. In the process of vehicle climbing, the two power sources of the motor and engine of the Blue Whale iDD and the multi-gear transmission cooperate to achieve hybrid operation in full gear, ensure strong and sustained low torque output, and help users enjoy surging driving pleasure without fear of various hill challenges.
The three-clutch electric drive transmission adopts a highly integrated wet three-clutch module, which makes the product more compact, and improves the response and efficiency through the coupling of the high-pressure hydraulic system and the intelligent electronic double pump technology, the motor adopts IGBT double-sided cooling to improve the efficiency and power density of the motor system, and the S-winding winding improves the efficiency and power density of the motor system. The overall efficiency of the in-female electric drive is 90%, the maximum efficiency of the motor controller is more than 98.5%, the motor power density is 10kW/kg, and the hydraulic system pressure reaches 60bar, which is the first in the industry in the 4 indicators.
Changan's future new energy attack
This year, Changan Automobile will successively launch 36 new products, 19 independent brands, including 9 new products, 10 new products and 8 new energy products. The overall target for FY2022 is to produce and sell 2.45 million units, up 6.5% year-on-year, of which 1.857 million units were produced and sold by its own brands, up 5.9% year-on-year and 11% market share.
In the future, Changan will continue to promote enterprise transformation and carry out seven key actions:
- Action 1: Brand renewal. Released a new digital pure electric brand Changan Deep Blue, focusing on building a high-end intelligent electric vehicle brand Avita, and further optimizing the brand strategy and positioning of Changan UNI, Changan Passenger Vehicle, Auchan and Kaicheng, and comprehensively transforming to electrification and electrification.
- Action 2: Speed up global products. Guided by user needs, more than 30 products will be launched by 2025, covering the high-end intelligent electric vehicle, mainstream passenger car, small car and commercial vehicle market.
- Action 3: Master the core technology. Create a new generation of deeply integrated electric drives, breakthrough power semiconductor development and application technology, continue to strengthen the integrated design of energy consumption, break through the integrated integration technology of battery chassis, accelerate the research and development and industrialization of (semi-semi-) solid-state batteries, and accelerate the pace of hydrogen fuel technology research and industrialization.
- Action 4: Build a new ecosystem. Work with partners to transform into a green energy ecology, a green service ecology, and a green supply chain ecology; set up independent technology companies, optimize the organization and talent mechanism, and build a market-oriented scientific and technological innovation body.
- Action Five: Digital Transformation. Continuously provide intelligent experience and digital services throughout the vehicle life cycle, build a new digital marketing model, and build a user-centered intelligent, agile and collaborative manufacturing system.
- Action Six: International Market Development. By 2025, 2-3 overseas manufacturing bases will be built, the first phase of the global automotive market will be completed, and a European headquarters and a North American headquarters will be established in the European and North American markets in a timely manner, and the European and North American automotive markets will be fully entered.
- Action Seven: Resource Security. By 2025, more than 80 billion yuan will be invested in key areas such as new energy, intelligence, scientific and technological innovation, and digital transformation, and the total number of R&D personnel will be about 20,000.
By 2025, Changan Automobile plans to achieve a total sales volume of 4 million vehicles, of which 3 million are Changan brand vehicles and 1.05 million new energy sales, accounting for 35%; in 2030, Changan Automobile's sales will reach 5.5 million, of which 4.5 million will be under the Changan brand, and new energy sales will reach 2.7 million, accounting for 60%, and overseas sales will account for 30%. Eventually, Changan Automobile will peak carbon in 2027 and carbon neutrality in 2045.
