On April 19, 2022, Beijing time, the new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV was officially launched in the world. The EQS SUV is the third model and the first SUV of the Mercedes-EQ brand based on the forward development of the EVA pure electric platform after the new EQS and the new EQE. The new car is positioned as a pure electric large luxury SUV, providing a 3-row, 7-seat layout with a WLTP operating range of up to 660 kilometers.
In terms of appearance, the EQS SUV continues the design concept of the previous EQS, and the new EQS bow body design is perfectly transplanted to the SUV model. The front face adopts the "Dark Night Star Array" closed grille, with Mercedes-Benz's classic star emblem embellishment, so that Mercedes-Benz's unique sense of luxury is displayed in a more gentle form. At the same time, consumers can choose between Electric Art and AMG-Line body styling, with the former having a smoother and rounder front bumper, while the latter has a more aggressive bumper design.
For the first time, the "Ring of Time" daytime running light strip uses three sharp triangular lighting units, which echo the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in design. On the side of the meteor shower digital headlights, a number of three-dimensional hexagonal matrices composed of fine light blue light modules and daytime running lights shine together.
The lines on the side of the body are more rounded and smooth, with a clamshell hood that meets the wheel arch, and like the EQS sedan, the new car has a clamshell hood that meets the wheel arch, and a pop-up scrubbing liquid filler on the left front wing. The rim shape is specially designed to effectively reduce wind resistance. In terms of body size, the new car has a length, width and height of 5125/1959/1718mm, and a wheelbase of 3210mm.
The design style of the rear of the car follows the fuller characteristics of the EQ family, making the new car look more powerful. The through-line taillights feature a spiral of iconic lighting designed to evoke filaments of Edison bulbs.
The new EQSSUV continues EQS's digital cockpit design, and the MBUX ultra-multi-screen application makes being in the car an extremely luxurious experience. The 17.7-inch OLED central control display, 12.3-inch instrument panel and 12.3-inch co-pilot screen make up the screen system of the EQS SUV.
The EQS SUV features the Berlin Sound surround sound system and the Dolby Atmos system, providing passengers with an immersive, high-fidelity listening experience.
The new EQSSUV offers a choice of 5-seater and 7-seater (third row optional) seating layouts, while the three rows offer plenty of space. Mercedes-Benz also equipped the seats of the EQS SUV with easy ENTRY as standard, allowing passengers to get on and off the bus more comfortably.
In terms of power, the EQS SUV comes standard with a rear axle motor, and the dual-motor model is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor at the front and rear, providing a maximum output of up to 400 kW and a peak torque of 858 Nm. Its lithium-ion battery has 12 built-in modules, a capacity of up to 107.8 kWh, and a WLTP operating range of up to 660 km. At the same time, the new car is also equipped with AIRMATIC air suspension with continuously adjustable damping, as well as a rear wheel active steering system of up to 10 degrees, and its turning diameter is only 11 meters.
