Haval H6 is destined to be a car that can leave a name in the history of Chinese SUVs, and it is precisely because of the success of Haval H6 that many independent brands have seen the huge market size of 100,000 yuan urban SUVs. Later, Changan CS75 and Geely Boyue these independent brand SUVs have also developed. It has become the top pillar model of China's 100,000-yuan SUV market. So that in the SUV segment, independent brands can compete with joint venture brands.
The Haval H6 model has been the top SUV sales champion for more than 100 consecutive months, with a total of 3.6 million units sold in the 10 years since its launch. In December 2016, the Haval H6 set a record of 80,495 units sold in a month, which no one has been able to break so far.
It can be said that the Haval H6 has defeated all domestic competitors. But it lost to the torrent of the times.
According to the March 2022 SUV sales rankings, the Tesla Model Y ranked first with sales of 39,730 units. Ranked second was byBYD Song with 26,723 units, and third was the Changan CS75 with sales of 22,811 units. The Haval H6 ranked No. 4 with sales of 19,303 units.
As can be seen from the list, the sales of Haval H6 have lagged behind the Changan CS75, and lagged behind BYD Song. If you compare it with the same period last year, you can also find that the sales volume of the Haval H6 fell by 43.7% year-on-year. It is the largest year-on-year decline among the top 15 models in the SUV list in March.
Tesla Model Y and BYD Song both have more than 100% year-on-year growth.
In the first quarter of 2022 SUV sales list, the Haval H6 also did not win the championship. The top two are still Tesla Model Y and BYD Song. But the difference from the Haval H6 is not great. However, year-on-year, the year-on-year decline of the Haval H6 and other SUVs is more serious. Tesla and BYD, the top two sales, still have a year-on-year sales growth of more than 100%.
Looking at the list of SUV sales in the first quarter of 2022, it is actually obvious to find that the changes in the market have slowly transformed into new energy.
On the one hand, Tesla Model Y, BYD Song these two are new energy models, Tesla Model Y is pure electric. BYD Song has both pure electric and plug-in hybrids. Moreover, BYD has also announced that it will no longer produce pure fuel vehicles and fully transform into new energy vehicles.
On the other hand, in the first quarter of 2022, due to the shortage of chips, the increase in the cost of battery raw materials, and many other unfavorable factors, the price of new energy vehicles even increased. And the time it takes users to order a car is also longer than that of a fuel vehicle. Therefore, under such an influence, most of the fuel vehicle brands, sales have declined. Therefore, it is more able to highlight the sales growth of Tesla and BYD.
Third, if we analyze Tesla and BYD separately, we can find that controlling the upstream and downstream industrial chains has played a very positive and effective impact on the growth of sales. Under the influence of chip shortage, Tesla's chips are independently developed, and the integration is relatively high, so the use of chips on the car is not much. So this greatly alleviates the shortage of Tesla chips.
BYD has a great leading edge in chips and batteries, and batteries can achieve self-sufficiency. Therefore, under the premise of rising battery raw material prices, BYD's model prices have also risen, but the increase is not large compared to competitors.
Therefore, like Tesla and BYD, if they can deeply control the upstream and downstream industrial chains, it will be very helpful for the increase in sales.
But is the era of the Haval H6 over? I don't think it's a complete past.
On the one hand, because the Great Wall launched tanks and launched the WEY brand when the Haval H6 was at its hottest. So on the whole, Great Wall is still the brand with the largest sales of SUVs in China. It's just that these sales are diverted by many of its brands and models.
The second aspect is that the Great Wall is also actively transforming new energy, and the recently launched DHT-PHEV technology is also slowly being promoted from its models. Therefore, in the future, Haval H6 will also transform to the direction of new energy, and the competition with BYD Song will be very interesting.
