If in the field of SUVs, who can really challenge the champion status of the Haval H6 and make it feel threatened, then there has been basically only one model in the past decade - the Changan CS75 PLUS.
Before the 2020 Haval H6 replacement, the sales volume of CS75 PLUS and H6 were once very glued, and there was a great tendency to surpass. Even after the third generation of H6 was launched, in March last year, the single-month sales of CS75 PLUS also achieved a rebound.
Just two days ago, the second generation of CS75 PLUS was officially launched, priced at 12.49-15.49 million. Is the so-called second-generation CS75 PLUS really a leapfrog improvement? In the face of the biggest opponent Haval H6, what advantages and shortcomings does it have? Today we will take a comprehensive look at it.
What has changed compared to cash?

Under normal circumstances, the replacement cycle of domestic cars is about five or six years, and the current CS75 PLUS has only been listed since September 2019, in fact, it is only two and a half years.

However, in order to facilitate the distinction, we still use the manufacturer's "second-generation CS75 PLUS" statement.
Power updates are the focus
In terms of engine specifications, the second-generation CS75 PLUS still continues the combination of 1.5T and 2.0T engines, but the gearbox has changed. The current model's 1.5T matches Aisin's 6AT, while the second-generation CS75 PLUS is upgraded to the same 8AT gearbox as the 2.0T version. As a result, the second-generation model is the only model in the same class and price range to equip the 1.5T engine with an 8AT transmission.
In the inherent cognition of many people, the AT gearbox is to be more reliable and smoother than DCT. In fact, compared to dual clutches and CVTs, the cost of AT transmissions is indeed relatively high. Not to mention the performance and reputation of the Aisin 8AT has always been very good, and relatively high-end models will be equipped with this gearbox.
For example, the Camry we are familiar with uses this 8AT, and only the 2.5L model is equipped, the 2.0L version uses CVT, and the 2.5L Camry has a starting price of 220,000. Therefore, the whole series of 8AT is the biggest highlight of the second generation of CS75 PLUS.
In addition, although the engine specifications have not changed, the power parameters of the two engines of the second-generation CS75 PLUS have been further improved compared with the current model, of which the peak torque of the 1.5T version has reached 300 Nm, and the 2.0T version has reached 390 Nm.
The appearance changes in detail
In terms of design, the changes are mainly in some details. The second generation of CS75 PLUS adopts two kinds of medium mesh, V-type and dot matrix, named "Whale Tail Wave" and "Crystal Matrix", of which the main one is "Whale Tail Wave". The price threshold of the second-generation CS75 PLUS has been raised from 117,900 to 124,900 yuan, which is 7,000 yuan more expensive. However, in essence, it only cancels the automatic elite type of the cash minimum. The 1.5T version of the second-generation model added 135,900 automatic pilot models, and the 2.0T version added an entry-level automatic premium model of only 139,900.
On the surface, the price threshold of the second-generation CS75 PLUS has been raised, but in the configuration of the real main sales, the price has been reduced to a certain extent, and the optional configuration is more than the cash model.
New additions to the second-generation CS75 PLUS include active grille, gesture control, facial recognition, and Sony's branded speakers.
And the entry threshold of many configurations has also been lowered, such as the driver assistance system, the current model is only equipped with 154,900 top equipment, and on the second-generation CS75 PLUS, the threshold has been reduced to 129,900.
So it can be said that the second generation of CS75 PLUS is more configured and the price is lower.
The above is the main feature of the second generation of CS75 PLUS, which is not really replaced in essence. But the overall design has indeed become more refined, and the powertrain has been greatly improved. And in the case of the main sales price has been reduced, the functional configuration has become more comprehensive.
However, the strength of the competitors at the same level should not be underestimated, in front of them, how much can the second generation of CS75 PLUS play?
How competitive is the same level

When the CS75 PLUS was just listed, one of the big selling points was the large space. Compared with the H6, Boyue and other standard A-class SUVs at that time, the CS75 PLUS actually reached the A+ level. However, with the continuous upgrading of competitors, the size advantage of the CS75 PLUS is no longer as prominent as before, but it is still a core selling point.
The size of the third generation of Haval H6 is greatly improved compared to the old model, and the wheelbase has even surpassed the CS75 PLUS, but in terms of body length, it is still nearly 50mm shorter than the CS75 PLUS. This gap makes the two cars show different postures and auras, and the CS75 PLUS looks more slender and has a more mid-size SUV look.
The Boyue X is still a standard compact SUV with a wheelbase and body size that is significantly smaller than the CS75 PLUS. In particular, the difference between the car captain and the H6 is more than 100mm, and the gap between the CS75 PLUS is more than 150mm. However, from the perspective of sales volume and price, Boyue X is still one of the main competitors of H6 and CS75 PLUS, and the size disadvantage has not made Boyue X suffer too many losses.
In fact, the closest to the CS75 PLUS in terms of body posture and overall volume should be Chery's Tiggo 8 PLUS. The wheelbase of the two cars is exactly the same, and the Tiggo 8 PLUS has certain advantages in terms of length and height, and the volume and perception and the internal seating and storage space also surpass the ordinary compact SUV.
For most consumers, the seating space of these models is sufficient, and the better performers are naturally the CS75 PLUS, H6 and Tiggo 8 PLUS, which have obvious advantages in body size. The rear space of these three models, whether it is the legs or the head, is called surplus, and the rear space of the Boyue X is also worthy of the word spacious:

However, the difference in body length is more obvious in the spatial performance of the trunk. The Tiggo 8 PLUS itself has a 7-seater version, while the five-seat version is significantly larger in the trunk than the other three models in standard condition. The CS75 PLUS and H6 are next, and the Boyue X's trunk is significantly smaller than the previous three.

Just mentioned that the second-generation CS75 PLUS series is equipped with Aisin 8AT as standard, which is a highlight, and this advantage is even more obvious in the case of the general use of dual-clutch transmissions in competitors.
The main models of the H6, Boyue X and Tiggo 8 PLUS all feature a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its advantages are fast gear change speed, high transmission efficiency, and under the same conditions, the fuel consumption will be better than that of the AT transmission.
The disadvantages are familiar to everyone, mainly that the ride and reliability are not as good as the AT gearbox. Of course, this can not be generalized, and the performance of the dual-clutch transmission depends largely on the level of adjustment. However, in the case of comparable prices, consumers are still more inclined to choose AT gearboxes.

In terms of power, whether it is 1.5T or 2.0T, the second generation of the CS75 PLUS has significantly surpassed the Haval H6. The 2.0T peak torque is even 65 Nm higher than the H6.
The Boyue X currently has only a relatively old 1.8T engine, and the power parameters are even less than the 1.5T of the CS75 PLUS, and the fuel consumption is high.

Overall, the second-generation CS75 PLUS transmission is a clear highlight, and the engine parameters are also excellent. It is much higher than the horsepower and torque of the old rival's third-generation H6.

The configuration of the second-generation CS75 PLUS has been significantly improved compared with itself, and the overall price reduction is increased. So compared with competitors, how is its comprehensive cost performance?
It can be seen that the starting price of CS75 PLUS's second generation of 124,900 is indeed not low, about 10,000 higher than H6 and Boyue X, but this does not mean that its cost performance is poor.
By comparing the minimum entry thresholds of some major configurations, we can find that the gap between several models is not large, and the perfection is relatively close. The configuration has always been the strength of domestic cars, and in the highly internally rolled market, the configuration of competitors at the same level is very high, and it is difficult to open up the gap between each other. It can only be said that domestic cars are very strong at this point, far stronger than joint venture competitors.

However, the four-wheel drive system is still missing on the second-generation CS75 PLUS, while the H6 and Tiggo 8 PLUS both have four-wheel drive versions. Among them, the four-wheel drive version of H6 starts at 146,900 yuan, and the terminal has a discount of about 6,000 yuan, and the actual threshold is only about 140,000 yuan. This may be a significant disadvantage of the CS75 PLUS compared to the H6.

As a hot model with an average monthly sales of more than 20,000 units, the CS75 PLUS has no doubt about its product strength and maturity. Although the second-generation model has not changed much in the design and platform, the more exquisite interior and exterior texture, as well as the blessing of aisin 8AT, will undoubtedly further enhance its competitiveness.
In January's SUV sales list, the Changan CS75 PLUS was only more than 1,000 fewer than the Haval H6. With the arrival of the second generation of models, changan CS75 PLUS ending the H6's pin-top status may be a high probability event.
