Sales of U.S. sedans in 2021 increased slightly compared to 2020, mainly due to the continued popularity of Tesla Model 3 sales. According to the data of the Association, the wholesale sales of Tesla Model 3 in 2021 reached 272972 units, up 101.5% year-on-year, and sales increased by 137,500 units.
Although the sales of Buick brand cars are also good, there is still a lot of decline compared with 2020. Among them, Buick Yinglang sold 263017 vehicles in the whole year, ranking second, down 11.1% year-on-year; Buick Regal sold 96605 vehicles, with an average monthly sales of only 8,000 vehicles, down 28.9% year-on-year.
In addition, Buick LaCrosse sold 49,875 units, down 9.3% year-on-year. Buick Veyron sold 30,076 units, up 77.7% year-on-year, thanks to the hot sale of the Veyron Pro model in September.
Chevrolet brand sales are also not as good as in 2020, of which Cruze sold 86,130 vehicles in the whole year, down 35.3% year-on-year, and sales decreased by 46,894 vehicles. Chevrolet Sail, which can only meet the National V emission standards, is mainly used for exports, with annual wholesale sales of 50,376 vehicles.
Although the sales of Ford brand cars are not large, they seem to have "rebounded from the bottom" and sales have increased. Among them, Forres sold 43,001 vehicles, an increase of 30.1% year-on-year; Mondeo sold 33,302 vehicles, an increase of 33.1% year-on-year; Fox sold 22,857 units, down 33.8% year-on-year; Taurus sales of 18,588 vehicles, an increase of 2.9%.
In terms of the Cadillac brand, the Cadillac CT5, as a medium-sized sedan, performed well, with annual sales of 62,098 units, an increase of 37.9% year-on-year. Cadillac CT6 and Cadillac CT4 sales were much inferior, with annual sales of 17,715 units and 14,809 units, down 18.3% and 10.9% year-on-year, respectively.
