The reason for the recall is that battery monitoring sensors in vehicles may short-circuit and overheat, which may cause in-engine fires while the vehicle is parked or driving.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration disclosed on March 7 that Ford Motor recently reported a recall of 4,804 2023 Transit vehicles equipped with special vehicle operation parts service kits #1 or #2, citing that after installing the accessory kit, the car's defrost and defogging system will stop working, which may reduce driver visibility in some driving conditions. The dealer will inspect the auxiliary wiring harness and replace or repair it free of charge as needed.
On June 2, Ford's official website announced that its total sales in the U.S. market in May were 170,933 units, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%. Among them, electric vehicle sales were 5,444 units, down 13% year-on-year. In the first five months of 2023, the company's total sales in the U.S. market were 830,841 units, an increase of 8.8% year-on-year.
