With the advent of the Winter Olympics, for the sport of skiing, many parents want to train their children to learn to ski, but most parents are not very good at it, and their professional knowledge is very little, especially for the potential health risks of preschool children in skiing, so it is easy to cause unnecessary sports damage to children. Today, ofmom summarized the following points with parents, which are easy to ignore the risks of children's skiing.

1. Insufficient preparation for exercise is easy to cause bone deformation and joint injury
Many parents do not have the awareness of preparing for skiing activities, and when their children go to the skiing field, they will be eager to participate in skiing and have no intention of preparing for the activities. The bones of preschool children are in the growth and development stage, the body function development is not yet mature, their bones are less hard and have certain toughness, and the joints are flexible but have poor stability. Moreover, the intensity of skiing is large, and if it is in a sliding position for a long time, it will not be conducive to the development of children's waist curves. Too low temperatures will also increase the viscosity of muscle tendons, which can easily cause damage to tendons and joints [1].
2. Lack of muscle strength increases the chance of injury
In addition to bones, preschool children's muscles are also in the development stage, at this time their muscle development is characterized by the early development of large muscle groups, the development of small muscle groups is not perfect, the strength of muscles is poor, the regulatory effect of the nervous system on muscles is not perfect, and the endurance work and coordination of muscles are not as good as adults.
Children's nervous system excitement point is high, coupled with the advantage of playful psychology, even if the body has appeared fatigue, it is difficult to show it. In a state of fatigue, inattention, coupled with insufficient muscle strength, the coordination of the body is reduced[1], and it is more likely to collide, causing physical damage.
3. Unbalanced mental system, difficult to cope with unexpected situations
When children first enter the snow field, they are definitely attracted by the novelties around them and show abnormal excitement, which is related to the excitement and inhibition of the development of neural processes in their cerebral cortex. Even if parents invite a coach to their children, they will not be able to deeply understand technical terminology due to lack of concentration, resulting in inaccurate movements when learning, prone to redundant movements and insufficient coordination, and it is difficult to use technical movements to cope with unexpected situations at any time in independent coasting [1].
4. Inadequate protection causes frostbite and snow blindness
Children are often in a state of excitement when skiing, the exercise time is long compared to other outdoor time, the exposed parts, such as: ears, nose, face, hands, and snow boots into the snow during skiing, snow clothing breathability, warmth is not good, a lot of sweating can not be discharged in time, once the body will be wet and cold, blood circulation speed slows down, frostbite may occur at any time.
In addition, if you do not wear a suitable children's protective eye mask when skiing, the eyes are completely naked, snow blindness is very easy to occur, and the appearance of ultraviolet rays causes damage to the cornea and conjunctival epithelium and causes inflammation.
Children's skiing should not follow the trend depending on age
Nowadays, skiing is becoming more and more convenient, and there are not a few large and small ski resorts, but the management level and quality of many ski resorts are not high. According to the 2019 "White Paper on China's Ski Industry", parents accounted for 27.5% of ski tourists, accounting for about 30% of the total number of skiers, ranking second, and the youngest skiing age with children was only 2.5 years old in Ctrip's ski orders.
Many ski resorts are even more insufficient for preschool children's equipment and facilities, such as coaching personnel qualifications, ambulance, safety protection measures, etc., and have not formed an effective protective mechanism, which is difficult to ensure that children have a faster response speed when danger occurs.
Therefore, for parents who have no skiing experience or are not good at it, Ofmom recommends not blindly taking preschool children to the snow field with complex personnel, adults and children, so that not only can they not play well, but children cannot really experience the fun of skiing.
Cultivate from "play"
Parents of preschoolers can choose such as the Ice Park, which is suitable for young children to play, and let their children experience skiing through a single short experience each time. If the child is more interested and willing to continue learning, they can further train through the indoor simulator, which can reach more than 90% similarity with the training of the real environment of the snow field. Not only can it reduce the chance of injury, but it can also improve children's movements more specifically and correct habits that are easy to bring injuries, which is very beneficial to the cultivation of basic skills. In this way, it can not only keep the child in contact with skiing, stimulate interest, but also avoid the pressure brought by formal training to the child's body, and then go to the snow field when there is a feeling.
Professional courses can be taken from the age of six
If you are learning to ski systematically, it is recommended to wait until the child is 6 years old. Children at this age have made great progress in terms of expression ability, coordination ability, physical function, etc., which is also in line with the characteristics of skiing itself, and at this time, when learning begins, children will be more comfortable.
Like other forms of sports, skiing also requires parents to make long-term planning, before deciding to let their children practice skiing, they must fully understand skiing, do their "homework", and ensure that children can experience the fun of sports in a safe situation.
