Milestone of China-Argentina nuclear energy cooperation: "Hualong One" Argentina nuclear power project general contract signed!
On February 1, the good news came from China's independent third-generation nuclear power "Hualong I": Argentina Nuclear Power Company and CNNC, China Zhongyuan and China Zhongyuan Argentina Branch of CNNC officially signed a contract for the design, procurement and construction of the Atucha III nuclear power plant project in Argentina. This is Argentina's fourth nuclear power plant and an important milestone in Sino-Arab nuclear energy cooperation.
This is "China's largest investment in Argentina", and the Atucha III nuclear power plant will generate a total of 1,200 megawatts of electricity, supplying the equivalent of 11 million Argentines. With 7,000 jobs to be created, the project will be invested at $8.3 billion and the construction period is expected to take eight and a half years.
The governor of Buenos Aires Province, Axel Kisilov, said it was an "honour" to accompany the signing of the "very important" contract and assured that the construction of Artucha III was a "priority" project.
In 2014, Christina Fernandez became president and I became her Minister of Economy. During a visit to Turkey during the G20, Argentina signed a comprehensive strategic alliance agreement with China. In 2015, the "Contract for the Construction of the Nuclear Power Plant" was signed.
