1200 km of family hunting

Shanghai Jiading to Henan Luoyang, 1200 km apart. In the past 12 years, Wang Jinhu has traveled back and forth between the two places countless times, in order to help people like him find relatives, and he also wants to find his own biological mother.

In the early 1960s, due to poor family conditions, some families who could not afford to raise their youngest children chose to send their children to the north, and Wang Jinhu was one of them. When he grew up, Wang Jinhu learned of his origins from his adoptive mother, and he also had the idea of looking for his biological parents. But apart from knowing that his name before he was raised was "Mao Fan", there was no clue.

In early April 2009, Wang Jinhu, then 46, learned in a casual conversation with an acquaintance that he might have been living in the Jiading district of Shanghai before he was adopted. There is hope in the search for relatives. In May of the same year, Wang Jinhu met with 18 fellow villagers who had similar experiences to him, and embarked on the first trip to Jiading to find relatives.

With the assistance of the Jiacheng Police Station of the Jiading Municipal Public Security Bureau, Wang Jinhu found information related to "Mao Fan" by consulting the household registration file, and the date on which "Mao Fan's" household registration was moved out in that year coincided with the time he moved to Luoyang, Henan. It has been confirmed that Wang Jinhu is the "Mao Fan" who was born in Jiading that year. Among the peers, some people also found the original file that matched their current household registration.

In the days that followed, a "family recognition rally" was held at a primary school near the police station, and not many families came to look for their separated relatives because not many people knew about it. In this "family recognition rally", two families found the children who were taken away by identifying photos of their childhood and some vague memories.

Wang Jinhu recalled that although there was no family in it, he was happy for his companions and made him look forward to finding his family back. In the following twelve years, countless trips between Jiading and Luoyang became an inseparable journey for them to find their relatives. The family search group also expanded from the initial 18 members to more than 300 people. The initiator, Wang Jinhu, has now become the leader of this family search group. During this period, they helped reunite more than a dozen families and regain their lost family ties.

Help the elderly in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea find their daughter who has been separated for 57 years

On June 30, 2021, Wang Gentao, a 92-year-old veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, was finally reunited with her daughter Lu Ruijuan, who had been separated for 57 years. At the Jiading Branch of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau, when Wang Gentao heard the news that "wang Gentao was finally confirmed to be Lu Ruijuan's biological father", the old man hugged his little daughter, who was already two sideburns, and gently slapped her daughter's back with both hands. In this recognition ceremony, Wang Jinhu was also at the scene.

Wang Jinhu said that in his memory, the first time he came to Jiading in 2009 to hold a "gathering to recognize relatives", at that time, among the two families suspected of finding relatives, there was the family of the elderly Wang Gentao. It was just that it did not succeed at that time, and the old man Wang Gentao was uncomfortable for a long time.

"For so many years, I have been in contact with the old man's family, and after finding clues, I contacted Lu Ruijuan, who has moved to Xiamen, to ask in detail about all the details of her life, and on the other hand, I communicated with the Jiading police to ask about the latest requirements for the analysis and comparison of biological samples." Wang Jinhu said that with the help of everyone, the comparison of biological samples quickly came to a conclusion, and the results this time did not disappoint the old man Wang Gentao. He finally waited for 57 years and heard his daughter call out "Daddy."

At the scene of this recognition ceremony, Wang Jinhu, as the leader of the Henan Luoyang Family SearchIng Group, on behalf of the non-governmental organization of the Family Search Group, reached a joint construction agreement with the Jiading police to provide help to people who have the same needs as Wang Gentao's father and daughter to find relatives.

"Many people ask me, you find relatives for so many people, but you don't find them yourself, how do you feel?" I was so lost. I felt that I would eventually meet, and I sent many of them home to share the joy of their reunion, but when I went back, I was in tears. Wang Jinhu said that the road to find relatives has hardships and happiness, and he always holds out hope.

After waiting for nearly 60 years, I finally called out "Mu Ma"

Just half a year after helping the elderly Wang Gentao find his daughter, a phone call from the police of the Jiading substation gave him hope.

On the night of December 23, 2021, Wang Jinhu, who was having dinner with his wife, received a call from Wang Xiang, a police officer at the Jiading substation, "To tell you the good news, we may have found your relatives, and this time the possibility is very high." Until the "beep" sound after hanging up came from the telephone handset, Wang Jinhu still maintained the answering action.

Three days later, Wang Jinhu's WeChat received a friend application from a person named "Juanzi". Just after passing the application for adding, the other party immediately sent an application for a video call. Wang Jinhu said that after the connection, the people at both ends of the screen looked at each other and did not know what to say for a while. The other party tentatively asked several questions, all about the same person "Mao Fan". "Are you my brother?" Juanzi asked. Wang Jinhu said that he had been thinking about this scene for many years.

Sensing Wang Jinhu's strange appearance, his wife next to him also rushed to the screen. Wang Jinhu said that his wife only looked at it at that time, and she was sure that the woman in the picture should be the relative he had been looking for for many years, because that eyebrow and that look were exactly the same as Wang Jinhu's daughter. It was later confirmed that Juanzi was Wang Jinhu's younger sister.

From that moment on, Wang Jinhu's heart ran to Shanghai. Wang Jinhu said that in June 2021, with the assistance of the Jiading police, his biological samples were sent to large and small cities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, and on December 23, in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, Wang Jinhu's biological samples were compared with a local old man. It was later confirmed that although this old uncle was not a direct relative of Wang Jinhu, he was a cousin of his. The old man said that Wang Jinhu's family has long lived in the Huating area of Jiading.

Through the information provided by the cousin, the community police of the Huating police station quickly found the family of mrs. Qin, who may be Wang Jinhu's family. On the other hand, the members of the group stationed in Jiading also went to visit the Huating area, and when they showed the photos of Wang Jinhu when he was a child to the old people in the village, several people recognized at a glance that the person in the photo was "Mao Fan" who was sent away that year.

The next day, the police of the Criminal Division of the Jiading Branch went to mrs. Qin's house and collected biological sample information for the whole family. On December 29, the preliminary comparison results confirmed that Wang Jinhu and Mrs. Qin were related. On December 30, the results of the second retest were the same as the previous one. A family relationship that has been lost for nearly a year can be regained.

Wang Jinhu said that he learned that in fact, many years ago, his mother had seen him in the tv news, but because he could not let go of the guilt of sending away his own flesh and bones, even if he was sure that it was her lost child, he still did not have the courage to recognize him. In recent years, although it has rarely been mentioned, there has always been an empty place in the hearts of the elderly.

On January 6, 2022, at the Jiading branch, the leader of the family search group that reunited more than ten families finally shouted out the "Mu Ma" that had been waiting for nearly 60 years.
