Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

In the summer of 1947, the unmarried girls on the beach were very excited because there was a man who had returned from the United States, and this man was Qian Xuesen.

Qian Xuesen, who is only 36 years old, was already a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States when he returned to China this time, which is a position that is difficult for ordinary people to reach, so for the unmarried girls in Shanghai, he is a typical "golden bachelor".

Qian Xuesen returned to China at the request of his parents. It turned out that his parents considered that he had passed the age of establishment and should have married a wife long ago, so they deliberately let him come back to settle the matter.

As the news of Qian Xuesen's return to China spread, the prayer posts that invited him to dinner flew to the Qian family one after another. Qian Xuesen was taken by his parents and went to the banquet one by one. On the surface, it was eating and chatting, but in fact, these girls wanted to date him.

After running countless dinners, Qian Xuesen received an invitation from his sister Jiang Ying.

When Jiang Ying was young, he also had a name: Qian Xueying. The karma of the two families also begins with the fact that the Qian family does not have a daughter.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

Qian Xuesen's mother only had one son, but she liked little girls very much, so she always wanted to have a daughter.

In 1912, Jiang Ying's father, Jiang Baili, fell in love with Sato Yadori, a Japanese nurse who had taken care of him, and entered the palace of marriage. And his original cha pinzhen has been serving around his mother-in-law, and she chose to acquiesce to this marriage and complete Jiang Baili.

Soon after the marriage, Jiang Baili gave Sato Yaden a Chinese name, Jiang Zuomei. She and Jiang Baili were very affectionate, and the two soon had 5 daughters. And Jiang Ying is their third daughter.

During this period, the Jiang family and the Qian family have been making good friends. Qian Xuesen's mother wanted to inherit a daughter from the Jiang family and recognize her as a dry mother. The Jiang family also agreed, so Qian Xuesen's mother chose the smart and beautiful Jiang Ying, and she also gave Jiang Ying a name: Qian Xueying.

Jiang Ying was then sent to the Qian family to live. When Jiang Ying's parents came to Qian's house to see her, she sang a song "Yan Shuangfei" with Qian Xuesen, which made the adults can't help but laugh. What she didn't expect was that this song would also be a prophecy that they would accompany in this life.

But the young Jiang Ying seems to be very uncomfortable with life in the Qian family. Just a few months after being sent over, Jiang Ying and qian's family quarreled about returning to their home. And the Qian family had no choice but to send her back.

When Jiang Ying later recalled the incident, he said that the reason why he was clamoring to go back was mainly because the Qian family was "not fun." Young Jiang Ying is exactly the age when he needs a playmate, but the Qian family only has one son, Qian Xuesen, and although Qian Xuesen has many interesting things. For example, balls, mouth organs, etc., but Qian Xuesen seemed to have somehow played with this little sister at that time, so he would only watch Jiang Ying play with these objects, occasionally teasing her, but not playing with her.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

After a long time, Jiang Ying was a little lonely, and she made a fuss about going home. When Jiang Ying left the Qian family, Qian Xuesen's mother, because she liked Jiang Ying very much, also said to Jiang Zuomei:

"You old third, you will have to be my daughter-in-law in the future."

Because of the good relationship between the two families, Jiang Zuomei agreed at that time, but did not take this as a promise.

Since then, Jiang Ying, the sister of Gan, has left the Qian family. But when Jiang Ying was in middle school, Qian Xuesen also went to school with his mother to visit Jiang Ying. At that time, Qian Xuesen introduced himself to Jiang Ying's classmates as her brother.

After that, the two who grew up slowly had little intersection.

Until 12 years later, Qian Xuesen and Jiang Ying met again. At that time, Qian Xuesen was 24 years old, and he passed the examination for publicly-funded students in the United States held by Tsinghua University and was about to study abroad. Before leaving, Qian Xuesen and his family came to the Jiang family to say goodbye to the elders. The Jiang family's parents asked Jiang Ying to come out of the room and say goodbye to her former "dry brother".

Since Jiang Ying liked music since childhood, she could sing and play the piano, so Jiang Ying also played a piano song for Qian Xuesen. Qian Xuesen was very happy to hear it, and he also clapped his hands to cheer for Jiang Ying, and a good memory was left between the two of them.

In 1937, Jiang Ying studied in Berlin, Germany, but soon after the war broke out in Germany. Jiang Ying had to go to Switzerland with her parents to continue studying music.

In 1944, the young Jiang Ying became famous in Switzerland, and she attended an international music festival as a performer. At this festival, Jiang Ying won the soprano competition, and she also enjoyed the title of one of the best soprano singers in China.

Two years later, Jiang Ying returned to China, and as soon as she set foot on Shanghai's land at the age of 27, she brought quite a stir to the Shanghai music scene. She then gave a solo concert in Shanghai, and singers throughout Shanghai were captivated by her beautiful voice.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

At the same time, Qian Xuesen, the youngest professor at MIT, returned to China. His father found Jiang Ying and hoped that she would find a suitable marriage partner for Qian Xuesen in his circle of friends. Jiang Ying agreed to this.

Therefore, Jiang Ying called two girlfriends and invited Qian Xuesen to come to the appointment. As soon as Qian Xuesen heard the "dry sister" invite him, he went happily.

When Qian Xuesen arrived at the place of dinner, he found that there were two women present in addition to Jiang Ying. And these two women are dressed up, as if they came for him.

In order to let Qian Xuesen communicate with the two women, Jiang Ying also arranged Qian Xuesen's position between the two of them, and she herself sat aside. And these two women are not the daughters of ordinary people, one of them is still a noble lady.

I don't know if he was the only one present, Qian Xuesen was very shy at the dinner table. When he looked at Jiang Ying, his expression was much more natural. Jiang Ying recalled:

"His eyes don't look to the left, nor to the right, he always looks at me."

Jiang Ying felt that Qian Xuesen's eyes were a little strange at that time.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

After this meal, the father of the noble lady had the intention of making Qian Xuesen his son-in-law. So he wanted to invite Qian Xuesen to his home as a guest, and the reason he told Qian Xuesen was: I heard that Qian Xuesen liked art, so he wanted to take him to appreciate famous paintings. But Qian Xuesen shirked the matter on the grounds that he had something to do.

Soon after, Qian Xuesen gave a speech at his alma mater, Jiaotong University, and Jiang Ying also went. As soon as the speech was over, Jiang Ying saw Qian Xuesen coming straight to him, and he also took the initiative to ask to send Jiang Ying home, saying that he was going to visit Jiang Ying.com.

After the two returned to Jiang's house, Qian Xuesen suddenly became quiet. In order to ease the atmosphere, Jiang Ying offered to put a record for him to listen to, but Qian Xuesen said like a tantrum:

"No, no, no."

After this sentence, the two did not speak for a long time.

Or qian Xuesen broke the silence, he looked at Jiang Ying and asked:

"Will you come with me to The United States?"

This sudden sentence undoubtedly represents that Qian Xuesen is proposing to Jiang Ying. This also explains why Qian Xuesen repeatedly looked at Jiang Ying at the blind date organized by Jiang Ying, and it was from then on that he found the woman he liked.

On Jiang Ying's side, since Qian Xuesen returned to China, she had a good feeling for Qian Xuesen, who was quite learned, and admired him very much, so she would listen to his speech. However, Jiang Ying, who was in the ascendancy of her career, did not consider talking about marriage at that time, so she was confused by Qian Xuesen's questioning at that time.

Jiang Ying recalled that she also told Qian Xuesen that she had a boyfriend at that time, so that Qian Xuesen could dispel the idea of proposing to her. But Qian Xuesen said that he also had a girlfriend, and their boyfriends and girlfriends did not count.

At that time in Shanghai, there were certainly not a few men pursuing Jiang Ying, and Qian Xuesen, who had just returned to China, should have no girlfriend. At the California Institute of Technology, there are even rumors that Qian Xuesen has a bad temper, so this is probably what Qian Xuesen said casually in order to persuade Jiang Ying.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

Seeing that Jiang Ying did not agree, Qian Xuesen had to leave. But two days later, Qian Xuesen came to Jiang Ying's house under the pretext of visiting Jiang's mother, and as soon as he saw Jiang Ying, he asked:

"When are you going to the United States?"

Jiang Ying later recalled that Qian Xuesen asked this several times, and she "surrendered." She was also surprised that she had agreed to Qian Xuesen so quickly.

But perhaps since the two reunited, Jiang Ying has fallen in love with this rather talented man.

On the afternoon of September 17, 1947, Qian Xuesen finally got his wish and married Jiang Ying, and their wedding was very romantic. Jiang Ying also invited his 17-year-old neighbor Zhou Guangren to play the piano at the wedding, and Zhou Guangren was later a famous pianist.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

After the wedding, Qian Xuesen was going to leave for the United States to work, and he took the boat himself first, so that Jiang Ying and his family could stay longer and then go.

Just when Jiang Ying was going to the United States to reunite with Qian Xuesen, a large opera house in Italy invited her to perform, and in order not to separate the two places from Qian Xuesen, Jiang Ying refused this opportunity.

After Jiang Ying arrived in the United States, they had breakfast together. Qian Xuesen had just finished drinking the tea and got up to say goodbye to her. At that time, Jiang Ying's was still eating bread, and she did not expect her husband to be so busy on the first day of the reunion between the two.

That night, Qian Xuesen went home, and he took Jiang Ying to eat a fast food. After the two returned home, they did not talk for long, Qian Xuesen said goodbye to her again, and then went into the study with a cup of tea.

Jiang Ying did not expect that her newlywed life would be spent in the busyness of her husband, and in the following 60 years, until before falling asleep, Qian Xuesen was so busy.

In fact, Qian Xuesen's heart has always been worried about his wife. In their bedroom, there was a large black grand piano, which was Qian Xuesen's new wedding gift to his wife.

Because Jiang Ying studied in Germany before, she was not proficient in English, Qian Xuesen would always take time to teach her English, and often gave her English passages, which made Jiang Ying laugh.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

And Jiang Ying, who loves to sing, will also translate songs into English to sing. As a result, there is often a pleasant singing voice in their homes.

Although Qian Xuesen can cook, he is always busy with work and does not have time to take care of housework. In order to take care of Qian Xuesen, Jiang Ying went from not being able to cook to learning to buy vegetables and cook rice, and also took on all the housework.

Whenever Qian Xuesen went to a place, he would bring back some gifts to his wife Jiang Ying. Among them, the most is Jiang Ying'ai's records. In their spare time, the two often go to concerts and art exhibitions to feel the romantic artistic atmosphere. Between the two, there is always endless words.

And since Qian Xuesen got married, he has also "changed as a person." Although he was as busy as before, his mentor Professor von Carmen said that Qian Xuesen had become different. He has changed from serious and unapproachable to social, and his personality has become much more cheerful.

The beautiful and generous Jiang Ying is also very popular among young men at the California Institute of Technology, and her beautiful singing voice fascinates these young people.

In 1948, Jiang Ying gave birth to a son for Qian Xuesen, and the two named the child Qian Yonggang.

Later, they had another daughter, Qian Yongzhen. But even with a son and a daughter, Qian Xuesen could not pay more attention to the family, and the big and small affairs of the two children were managed by Jiang Ying alone.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Qian Xuesen wanted to return to China with his family. They packed everything up, but Qian Xuesen was put under house arrest by the U.S. military for mastering rocket-building technology. Qian Xuesen suffered a lot of sins for this, and he lost a full 30 pounds during that time.

During that dark time, Jiang Ying specially bought a guitar. She often took out the guitar after the two children fell asleep and played for Qian Xuesen through the moonlight. Qian Xuesen would occasionally play the bamboo flute with his wife. Qian Xuesen also advised Jiang Ying to take her children back to China first, but Jiang Ying said that the family must be together.

And Qian Xuesen also wrote the three words "dedicated to Ying" in the works completed during this period.

Five years later, with the help of our country's leaders, Qian Xuesen finally returned to China with his wife and children.

However, Qian Xuesen, who had just returned to China, quickly threw himself into the research cause of "two bombs and one satellite." In order to keep state secrets, Qian Xuesen often went out to work without saying goodbye to Jiang Ying. Jiang Ying, who had no news of her husband, could only go to Qian Xuesen's work unit to ask, and after hearing the news of his safety, Jiang Ying could relax her mind.

While Qian Xuesen struggled hard for China's "two bombs and one satellite" cause, Jiang Ying also served at the Central Experimental Opera House. She showcased her musical talents on this stage.

However, a few years later, because Qian Xuesen had been away for a long time and no one took care of family affairs, Jiang Ying went to the Central Conservatory of Music to take care of the family. And she also brought back a wire recorder from the United States for teaching, so that it can play a greater role.

In those years, Jiang Ying trained many outstanding singers for china, and Singers such as Fu Haijing and Jiang Yong, who are well-known in the international music scene, were once her students.

Jiang Ying is willing to share everything with Qian Xuesen, and she will invite Qian Xuesen every time she performs. And Qian Xuesen always went happily. He also used to ask his colleagues to go to his wife's concerts. If Qian Xuesen was too busy, Jiang Ying would record the songs she sang and let them be heard by Qian Xuesen when he returned home.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

When jiang ying's favorite symphony orchestra has a performance, Jiang Ying will also pull Qian Xuesen to listen to it together. Qian Xuesen, who loves art, is very willing to accompany his wife, and he and his wife can always discuss it after listening to a performance.

Subsequently, Qian Xuesen wrote a book, "The Art of Science and the Science of Art", and the English translation of the book was decided by Jiang Ying.

Jiang Ying is engaged in music education while taking care of his family, so that Qian Xuesen can devote himself to the cause of science.

In the mid-1980s, Jiang Ying retired from the Central Conservatory of Music, but she never stopped teaching. In order to facilitate teaching, Jiang Ying even taught music at home. In the red brick building where they lived, a piano occupied a quarter of the place. And Jiang Ying is sitting in front of this piano, teaching children music.

Jiang Ying even regarded these children who came to study as her own children, and she treated them very well. But Jiang Ying and Qian Xuesen were very "harsh" on themselves.

They had lived in the red brick building for nearly half a century, and the two old men had many opportunities to move to the "General Building" with better conditions, but Jiang Ying and Qian Xuesen took the initiative to give up. And Jiang Ying often wears clothes that her children no longer wear, and one of her housecoats is sewn and patched several times.

The children who studied here in Jiang Ying did not forget Jiang Ying after they had achieved success in their studies, and they would bring some small gifts to Jiang Ying every time they returned home, and they were willing to consult Jiang Ying when they encountered any problems. Because in their hearts, Jiang Ying's care for them is so sincere, and Jiang Ying's character is also trustworthy.

Jiang Ying: I invited my girlfriend to go on a blind date with Qian Xuesen, and when he looked at my eyes, it was a little strange

Qian Xuesen always went home and saw Jiang Ying and her students together, and his heart was happy for his wife.

Qian Xuesen knows very well everything that his wife Jiang Ying has paid for him and his children over the years. In October 1991, Qian Xuesen won the honorary title of "National Outstanding Contribution Scientist". At the award ceremony, Qian Xuesen said to Jiang Ying:

"I won the award today, and I must not forget the understanding and support that my wife has given me for decades."

It can be seen that Qian Xuesen has a deep affection for Jiang Ying.

The following year, on the occasion of Jiang Ying's 73rd birthday. Jiang Ying found that their children had written their names on the cake and wished her a happy birthday, but there was no Qian Xuesen's name. Jiang Ying pretended to be angry and asked Qian Xuesen:

"What have you done?"

Qian Xuesen knew that his wife was teasing himself, and he smiled happily, just like the day Qian Xuesen sent Jiang Ying home before they got married.

In July 1999, the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Jiang Ying's coaching was held in Beijing, and Qian Xuesen, 88, was unable to attend due to physical reasons. But he still wrote a letter by hand, asking his daughter to take it to the scene and read it to Jiang Ying, which wrote:

"People who do science also need inspiration, and many of my inspirations are realized from art."

On October 31, 2009, Qian Xuesen died at the age of 98. On February 5, 2012, Jiang Ying passed away at the age of 92.

In the 1990s, Jiang Ying underwent a major surgery. Before starting the surgery, she used to say to the doctor with some concern:

"I can't walk ahead of him."

Jiang Ying finally got his wish.
