On April 26, GAC Trumpchi released a new hybrid technology brand, Julang Hybrid. This also means that GAC Trumpchi has become the only hybrid technology based on Toyota THS power shunt that has independently developed GMC dual-motor hybrid hybrid technology.

BASED ON TOYOTA'S THS POWER SHUNT HYBRID TECHNOLOGY, GAC TRUMPCHI has been "loaded" on the GS8 listed in December last year, and the market feedback is quite good.

In fact, this hybrid system is not a "copy" of Toyota THS by GAC Trumpchi, but a technological innovation based on THS - in Toyota's technical architecture, the THS system is matched with a naturally aspirated engine, and in order to improve power performance, GAC Trumpchi has "integrated" THS with a 2.0T turbocharged engine.

Perhaps in the eyes of many people, this is just a simple "engine change" thing; but in fact, it is not the case, the power characteristics of naturally aspirated engines and turbocharged engines are very different, so this requires engineers to re-"code" the THS system according to the power characteristics of the turbocharged engine.

The hardware of the THS system is very "Toyota", but the performance and efficiency of the turbocharged engine + THS system depend entirely on GAC Trumpchi's own "kung fu".

According to the real car owner fuel consumption data of third-party statistics, the actual fuel consumption of 100 kilometers of GAC Trumpchi GS8 hybrid is 7.3 liters, and the fuel consumption of Highlander hybrid 100 kilometers is 6.82 liters. The GAC Trumpchi GS8 has a larger body and a 190-kilogram heavier overall weight than the Highlander, so the fuel consumption of 0.48 liters higher per 100 kilometers is completely within a reasonable range. This also reflects from the side that GAC Trumpchi's THS system is doing very well.

After talking about the THS system, let's look at the GMC of GAC Trumpchi's self-launched hybrid technology, which is a two-stop DHT dual motor series parallel system. The biggest advantage of the two-stop DHT hybrid system over the THS power shunt form is that it can achieve better power performance and fuel economy in more scenarios.

For example, the fuel saving effect of the THS system in high-speed cruise mode is average, and the acceleration performance is not good enough. But the two-speed DHT makes up for this shortcoming, it has an additional gear, improves the torque output at the same time, can make the engine intervene in the drive after a more efficient working range, can make the vehicle energy consumption lower, stronger power.

It is worth mentioning that at present, most of the two-gear DHT uses dual clutch, while the two-speed DHT shift mechanism of GAC Trumpchi adopts the form of AT, which makes the shift smoother and the driving texture is better.

GMC's core engine adopts GAC 2.0ATK high-efficiency Atkinson engine, which has the advantages of GCCS efficient combustion system, low-friction design, waste recirculation system and intelligent thermal management, etc., and is a hybrid engine with a maximum thermal efficiency of 42.1%, which is higher than the thermal efficiency of 2.0TM 40.23% on the GAC Trumpchi GS8, which means that the fuel consumption of models equipped with GMC hybrid system will be lower.

At the press conference, the first compact SUV with GMC hybrid system and derived from the GPMA architecture was also officially released, which is a new product sequence of GAC Trumpchi. According to the plan, this year GAC Trumpchi will also launch a hybrid version of the Shadow Leopard and M8. Relatively speaking, the upcoming hybrid version of the M8 is indeed an exciting news.

In the current high-end MPV market, GAC Trumpchi M8 performance is very eye-catching and stable. In March, it became the second model after the Buick GL8 and Toyota Xena in the mid-to-high-end MPV sales rankings. Once the hybrid version of the M8 is listed, lower fuel consumption and better driving texture will have a profound impact on the entire high-end MPV market competition pattern.
