At the moment of practicing the "double carbon goal", traditional car companies have begun to turn to the era of hybridization and electrification. A few days ago, GAC Trumpchi officially released the Julang hybrid technology under the electrification strategy, and launched the first SUV model based on julang hybrid GMC2.0 Yingku.

At the press conference, Zhang Yuesai, general manager of GAC Passenger Vehicles, said that undertaking the electrification strategy of GAC Group, GAC Trumpchi promoted the landing of HEV (hybrid vehicle) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid vehicle) hybrid technology. After 13 years of technological precipitation, through open cooperation and independent research and development, GAC Trumpchi has become a brand with a dual-hybrid technology route. Julang Hybrid is a hybrid technology brand launched by GAC Trumpchi under the background of "double carbon" with customer experience as the center, deep insight into the needs of market users.

Take the dual hybrid technology route

As early as the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2021, GAC Trumpchi called for "China's strongest hybrid technology platform". Today, whether the launch of Julang Hybrid can achieve this goal also needs to focus on whether there is a breakthrough in technology.

According to GAC Trumpchi, Julang hybrid includes two hybrid technology routes: the first is the forward self-developed GMC dual motor series parallel hybrid system, and the second route is the THS power shunt hybrid system cooperated with Toyota, which realizes the combination of turbocharged engine and THS system.

Specifically, in route one, the GMC dual-motor series parallel hybrid system adopts GAC 2.0ATK high-efficiency Atkinson engine, has GAC GCCS efficient combustion system, low-friction design, waste recycling system, intelligent thermal management and noise reduction design, and is a hybrid special engine with a thermal efficiency of 42.1%.

In terms of thermal efficiency, compared to the same class of markets, in fact, there are not a few hybrid models with Atkinson engines. For example, Honda's third-generation iMMD dual-motor hybrid technology and BYD's new DM-i plug-in hybrid system have adopted Atkin engines, but after the transformation and upgrading of products by various car companies, the thermal efficiency of each hybrid technology is not the same, the thermal efficiency of Honda's iMMD dual motor hybrid technology is about 41%, the thermal efficiency of BYD DM-i plug-in hybrid system is about 43%, and the thermal efficiency of GAC GMC dual motor series parallel hybrid system is between the above two.

In addition to this, the GMC dual motor series parallel hybrid system has also been upgraded in terms of motor control. In 2019, the first-generation GMC electromechanical coupling system independently developed by GAC automobile won the title of "World's Top Ten Transmissions", and the GMC2.0 was upgraded on the basis of the first generation of products, and the ratio of the average thermal efficiency to the highest thermal efficiency of the actual working point of the engine reached 95.5%.

Compared with the mainstream hybrid system currently on the market, the GMC dual motor series parallel hybrid system has two gears. In different scenarios, GMC will have different working modes.

In pure electric mode, the vehicle is driven by the drive motor, usually used for vehicle starting, high SOC working conditions, etc.; in the tandem (extended range) mode, the engine drives the generator to generate electricity, the drive motor drives the vehicle, usually used for low SOC medium and low speed working conditions such as urban driving; in the parallel mode, the engine and the driving motor jointly drive the vehicle, the generator can generate electricity or drive according to the needs, and switch between two gears according to the vehicle speed to achieve the optimal working point and system efficiency. It is usually used in medium and high speed and high-speed cycling conditions; in energy recovery mode, the braking energy recovery by the drive motor, charging the battery, is usually used for braking conditions.

The new model is re-energized

For hybrid models, their fuel economy is a key point in competing with their counterparts. The GMC dual motor series parallel hybrid system has a lower fuel consumption, and the variable displacement oil pump is equipped with a main oil outlet chamber and a secondary oil outlet chamber, which is controlled by a pressure relief valve to adjust the main oil channel pressure and oil volume of the engine. In the medium speed area of the engine, the pressure of the secondary return oil chamber is reduced, the pressure of the lubricating oil circuit is reduced, and the friction of the lubrication pair is reduced; at low speed and high speed, the auxiliary return oil chamber also supplies oil to the engine, ensuring the same oil pressure as the traditional oil pump.

Through the above control methods, the engine can achieve the optimal matching of oil supply under different working conditions, reduce the operating displacement of the oil pump, reduce the energy loss of the engine, and achieve a fuel saving rate of 4% (WLTC working conditions measured).

In addition, in route two, the GAC 2.0TM engine is combined with Toyota's fourth-generation THS hybrid system, and the new second-generation GS8 dual engine series equipped with Toyota's fourth-generation THS hybrid system has been listed, with an acceleration of 6.9 seconds per 100 kilometers, and the limit test of the next tank of fuel can travel 2022 kilometers, becoming the top of the 200,000-class self-owned brand hybrid SUV in the first quarter of 2022.

At the time when the new second-generation GS8 dual engine series based on route 2 achieved good results, GAC Trumpchi launched the first SUV model based on route 1, Yingku.

In terms of power, Yingku is equipped with Julang Hybrid, using 2.0ATK high-efficiency Atkinson engine, GMC 2.0 second-generation electromechanical coupling system, and will also be equipped with Julang Power 1.5TGDI engine and Julang Power 2.0TGDI engine, further bringing users a surging and powerful driving experience and stimulating young consumers' desire to burn.

In terms of intelligence, Yingku has intelligent butler-style pilot technology and super sense interactive intelligent cockpit, through the ADiGO intelligent driving interconnection ecosystem, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, output multi-mode interactive intelligent experience.

For the selection of the target audience, Yingku is similar to the previously released Shadow Leopard, choosing pan-Z generation, social newcomers, love or newlyweds, car second generation and other demand for cars is not only satisfied with the basic performance of the crowd. The sales coverage includes post-85s, grassroots or middle-level people in enterprises, married children, car use to take into account family needs, the pursuit of personality and hedonistic life and other groups.

As a strategic model for GAC Trumpchi's "XEV+ICV" dual-core strategy, Yingku will provide three sets of hybrid + fuel powertrains to cover the A-class SUV market, and plans to be listed in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other overseas markets in 2023.
