In the 100,000-150,000 yuan household MPV market, Trumpchi M6 has always had a good sales performance. With the consumer demand for MPV models more and more diversified, Trumpchi M6 is also constantly seeking new, in 2021 launched a mid-term redesign of the Trumpchi M6 PRO, the new car compared to the old Trumpchi M6 upgrade is still very obvious, first of all, the appearance looks more imposing, more technological configuration, and many configuration items to achieve the standard of the whole series.
The protagonist of our review today is the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO. Can the upgraded M6 PRO meet the diversified needs of domestic consumers? Will there be some new problems that are difficult for ordinary consumers to discover? This issue of "New Car Commercial Evaluation" will break through the fog for you, through objective data and subjective feelings, restore a real Trumpchi M6 PRO.
1. Objective data
This project mainly shows the performance of the new car in terms of commerciality in the form of objective data through field tests of 12 items such as body technology, paint film level, interior air quality, noise from the car, static vibration in the car, parking radar and lighting/vision.
In the body process testing session, a total of 10 key parts of the vehicle are selected, and 3 key points are selected for measurement in each key part to evaluate the uniformity of the gaps in each key part. Judging from the test results, the average gap data of most parts of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO vehicle is at a relatively low level. However, it can be found that the difference between the front fenders on the left and right sides of the vehicle is relatively large, the difference reaches 1.5mm, and the side also reflects that there is still room for improvement in the body process of gac Trumpchi M6 PRO.
In the paint film level test, it should be pointed out that because the trunk cover of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is covered with non-metallic materials, no valid data was obtained in this test. Through the test results, it can be found that the average thickness of the paint film of GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO vehicle is about 145.7μm, which reaches the standard value of high-end vehicles (120μm-150μm). Judging from the test data of each key part, in addition to the large thickness of the paint film on the engine cover and roof, the average thickness of the paint film in the remaining test parts is relatively close, and the overall performance is remarkable.
In the in-vehicle air quality testing link, the vehicle was placed in the internal ground parking lot with fewer vehicles, and the formaldehyde component was not detected in the car of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO, which was implemented on March 1, 2012, and was jointly issued by the former Ministry of Environmental Protection and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China in the "Guidelines for Air Quality Evaluation in Passenger Vehicles" (National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 27630-2011). At the same time, the content of inhalable particulate matter such as PM2.5 is higher, lower than the average level of the same level, or related to the test environment on the day.
In the static noise test, gac Trumpchi M6 PRO performed well in the quietness of the car in the static state, and the test score has dropped to the minimum value of the test instrument 30dB, which can almost be isolated from the external environment. With the start of the engine, the noise value in the incoming car shows a gradual increase trend, and the noise value in the incoming car at 3000 rpm is 51.8dB, which is at an average level compared with the same class of models tested. Compared with the noise values in the following different environments, the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO performs well for engine noise suppression, and it will hardly cause nuisance to the drivers and occupants in the car under working conditions.
In the air conditioning noise test, the test instrument is placed at a position of about 10cm from the air conditioner outlet, and then the air conditioning air volume is adjusted from small to large, and the noise value of the driver's position in different gears is measured. After actual measurement, the air conditioning adjustment of GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is divided into 7 gears, and the measured noise value is 68.4dB when opening the highest grade, which is still within the range that the human body can tolerate and will not cause too much nuisance to the driver and passengers.
After actual measurement, in the idling state, the vibration of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO engine into the car is relatively limited, but there is still some gap between the test data of the steering wheel and the front and rear seats, which also shows that the inhibition of seat vibration in this car needs to be improved. Under load, the test data at the steering wheel has not changed, the body feeling is not obvious, the vibration value of the front and rear seats is higher, and the overall performance is lower than that of the same class of vehicles tested.
In addition, we tested parking radar, lights/vision, control systems, tire hubs, sunroofs, seats, and trunks. After actual measurement, the overall performance of GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is lower than the level of its own brand, the test vehicle is only equipped with a reversing radar and no front parking radar, and the rear parking adopts a four-stage design, and the prompt tone of each section is clearly recognizable; the rear seat back and front and rear adjustments are manual adjustments, and do not support electric adjustment. The rear seat back angle can be adjusted between 62° and 100.9° for a long ride without fatigue.
Second, subjective feelings
The project was subjectively evaluated by a number of reviewers on the actual performance of the new car in terms of static and dynamics. Among them, the static aspect includes four parts: exterior, interior, space and human-computer interaction; the dynamic aspect includes acceleration, braking, steering, driving experience and driving safety. Finally, the total score is given with reference to the subjective evaluation opinions given by the judges, so as to reflect the actual performance of the new car in terms of commerciality from the perspective of subjective feelings.
In the external perception evaluation, the overall performance of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO was in line with expectations, especially in terms of lighting and engine compartment layout, which was unanimously affirmed by the expert jury. The test model is equipped with matrix LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and headlights with delayed off functions. The interior of the engine compartment is well organized, the components are neatly arranged, and the insulation sleeve and tape are sufficient, and there is no large area of exposed cables. In contrast, the vehicle is easy to unlock, the test measurement supports induction unlocking, and it can be unlocked when the key is close to the vehicle. Mechanical key access is also more convenient.
The general frame of the interior of trumpchi M6 PRO is similar to that of trumpchi M6, and the overall feeling is simple and the sense of home is relatively strong. A large number of soft-lined plastic materials are used in the car, which is an environmentally friendly material, the taste is not very large, and the burgundy distribution is relatively high-end. The steering wheel style has some adjustments compared to the Trumpchi M6, mainly because the silver trim has been changed to black, which makes it look younger. The integrated screen composed of 7-inch LCD instrument panel + 10.25-inch central control screen is the standard of the whole series. In addition, its car machine system is equipped with Huawei's HiCAR function, which can realize the wireless screen projection of mobile phones, while the Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife functions of the old model have also been retained. However, the actual display size of the instrument and the central control screen is very small, there are many edges, and the visual experience is very poor, which needs to be improved.
In terms of riding space, the wheelbase of GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO has reached 2815mm, and the legroom is fully guaranteed. In terms of storage space, the performance of GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is also remarkable, the whole car is designed with multiple storage compartments, but some storage space design is not reasonable, such as the second row only one side of the seat is equipped with cup holders, storage space is somewhat insufficient.
GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is equipped with a 10.25-inch central control screen as standard, and the system fluency is still good, but the actual display size is small, the black edges around it are very wide, and the visual effect is very poor. The car machine system is equipped with Huawei's HiCAR function, which can realize the wireless screen projection of mobile phones, while the Apple CarPlay and Baidu CarLife functions of the old models have also been retained. But what should be complained about here is that the test model is not equipped with a navigation system and a voice control system, and only the top model is currently equipped, which can no longer meet the needs of consumers.
The GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is equipped with a 1.5T engine, codenamed 270T, with a maximum power of 124 kW and a maximum torque of 265 N·m, which is matched by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the actual driving experience, the power output of this car is not radical, there is basically no flashpoint in the NORMAL and ECO modes, and the performance of the engine is biased towards "Buddhism". Even if the big foot throttle goes down, the power output is still smooth, which avoids disturbing the passengers. But if you want to experience passionate driving, you have to choose THE SPORT mode, its daily cruise speed will be about 500 revolutions more than the two driving modes mentioned earlier, but the power response will become more timely, driving up is not as "Buddhist" as the previous two modes, and the steering wheel boost will become heavier. However, this change is not very obvious, so this car is still more suitable for commuting on city roads, and it may still be difficult to experience the feeling of passionate driving.
The braking pedal is moderately strong, but the actual experience can find that the first half of the stroke is longer, and the braking force release in this range is not linear enough, which can actually be optimized. After deeply pressing the brake pedal, this feeling will disappear, and the braking force performance behind is still good.
The steering power of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is light, and although it can be adjusted by the car system, the change in the force of each level is not particularly obvious. In addition, the front of the car is generally directed, and the steering position is larger, but these are excusable for the MPV, because the control is not its strength, and the riding comfort is more important.
The suspension configuration of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is front McPherson type and rear torque beam type semi-independent suspension. The suspension adjustment of the whole vehicle is soft, and the large and small vibrations on the road surface are filtered out as much as possible during daily driving, and some vibration suspensions with relatively large impact forces are buffered and weakened to maintain the stability of the body. However, the soft suspension in the speed of the car to make a line change action, or fast cornering, the support of the body is general, coupled with the higher body center of gravity of the van body, resulting in a more obvious body tilt. Gac Trumpchi M6 PRO vehicle NVH level performance is good, especially the performance of low and medium speed conditions is satisfactory, wind noise is more obvious at high speed, but in the acceptable range.
The GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO tested this time is not very good in terms of driving assistance, which is related to the model configuration. The test model was not equipped with other driver assistance features other than 360-degree panoramic images.

Based on the above test results, it was concluded that the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO met the expectations of the expert jury in terms of objective data, but did not meet the expectations of the expert jury in terms of subjective evaluation, especially at the driver assistance level. At the objective data level, the overall performance of the external process of the body is good, but there is still room for improvement in the seam level and spray uniformity of individual parts. In addition, in terms of seat adjustment method in the second row and radar spacing control, GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO also has some room for optimization. At the level of subjective feelings, GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is not satisfactory in terms of central control screen layout, intelligent configuration and driving assistance, and there is still a lot of room for improvement. On the whole, the commerciality of the GAC Trumpchi M6 PRO is in the middle and lower reaches of the same level of the tested models.
