Recently, a set of BMW Concept XM production version of the prototype car spy photos were exposed on overseas websites. The XM is a brand new flagship SUV that has a strong connection to the X7, with the same wheelbase as the X7, but it's not the X7 M. Unlike other M division SUV models that are based on BMW SUV models, the XM is a brand new model built entirely by the M division. The last time the M division built a new model was back 40 years to the M1. XM will be officially released later this year, and its official delivery will be achieved in 2023.
From the front of the car, the giant double kidney grille is matched with split headlights, the upper part is a strip of daytime running lights, and the lower part is a group of near high beam lights. Due to the high camouflage of the whole vehicle, it is difficult for us to see the design details of the front surround from the spy photos. From the silhouette of the side of the car, we can see that the XM is a typical coupe SUV, and the slender body makes the lines look very stretched. The five-spoke wheels have a completely new design. The rear wheels extend outwards very exaggeratedly, which makes the rear of the car look very heavy. The two-sided four-out exhaust system features a novel longitudinal layout, which is in line with the design of the Concept XM concept car.
In terms of power, BMW XM will have three powertrains, the most powerful of which will be a plug-in hybrid system composed of V8 engines, referring to the data of the concept car, the power is expected to reach a maximum power of 551kW (750 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 1000 Nm, with a pure electric endurance of 48 kilometers.
