Where is this car? This is clearly a "poison"
After Bronco's return, it is not much to say how popular it is.
Today we're going to talk about one of its predecessors, a Bronco Ranger XLT from 1979.
At a classic car auction in February this year, it sold for $90,000, or about 568,000 yuan.
At $90,000, you can buy 3 starter broncos in the United States.
A 43-year-old car, there is no special identity, such as the first car of this generation or what is particularly worth writing about, then why is it so expensive?
Probably by looking at a photo of it, you can only say that you like it.
Let's take a look at the background of this generation.
The 1979 car is clearly bronco's second-generation model.
Born in 1966, the Bronco was the first SUV model in Ford's history.
Thirty years later, in 1996, Bronco announced discontinuity, and it developed five generations of models during its lifetime.
The first generation of models, 1965-1977, a total of 13 years.
The second generation of the model, 1978-1979, only 2 years.
Why did the first generation take 13 years to produce the second generation and then the second generation only existed for 2 years?
In fact, the second-generation model was originally planned to be launched in 1974, but it was not officially released until 1978 due to the oil crisis, and the research and development of the third-generation model was almost over, so the second-generation model was only two years old and discontinued.
Although the life span is only two years, it has sold about 180,000 vehicles in two years, so only from the perspective of annual sales, the second generation model can be said to be the most successful generation in the history of the entire car series.
Annual sales are high, but the overall number is relatively small compared to other generations of models, and it is rare
The second-generation Bronco is based on the Ford F-100, which is platform-based and can be shared with many body parts.
Compared with the first generation, this generation of models has become larger, the length and width data have increased, the practicality and off-road playability have also been improved, and the air conditioning, radio and other configurations have also been added.
The size of the two generations is compared, and the blue is the first generation model
The second-generation model offers two different V8 engines: the 5.8L 351M and 6.6L 400, which are matched with a four-speed manual transmission with an automatic transmission as an option.
Another feature of this generation is the bold use of two-tone paint and the wild style. Of course, the overall design is also more luxurious.

Back to the car itself.
This Bronco Ranger XLT was shipped on January 25, 1979.
Originally sold to Canada, it was acquired by the current seller in 2019 and completed the refurbishment of the vehicle in 2021, including the restoration of the paint, the installation of replacement brake system components, and the reconstruction of the engine and gearbox.
The overall renovation is aimed at restoration, and we try to keep it as original as possible. Before being acquired by the current seller, the vehicle should have been repainted, but it was basically painted with the goal of restoration.
This car should have been custom-made in 1979.
Bronco had a variety of customization options, with different styles of kits to choose from, including tires, wheels, mirrors, colored stripes, bumpers and so on. It can also be purchased separately.
Let's look at some detail diagrams

The old car in this state is obviously already a sentimental work of art that can still walk.
So, 568,000 you think it's worth?
