This is the ace pilot of the Iranian Air Force, Galil Zanddi, originally served in the Imperial Iranian Air Force (Iran Air Force during the Pahlavi period), after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Zandi served in the Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Zandi and other members of the former Imperial Iranian Air Force were liquidated, considered to be corrupted by Western ideas, disloyal to the new regime, and the excellent pilots in Iran at that time were trained by the United States. In 1982, Zandy was sentenced to ten years in prison and threatened with the death penalty, but he did not commit any crime.
Later, at the request of the Air Force commander and other officials, Zandi was released after serving six months in prison. It is estimated that because of the Iran-Iraq war, Iran urgently needs pilots to participate in the war.
During the Iran-Iraq War, Zadi flew F14 fighter jets and shot down at least 11 Iraqi fighters, including four MiG-23s, two Su-22s, two MiG-21s, and three Mirage F1s, making him the world's most successful F14 pilot and one of Iran's ace pilots. After the war, he was personally awarded the Medal of Conquest by Khomeini's successor, Khamenei.
In 2001, Zandy and his wife died in a car accident in Tehran at the age of 50.
