Just as we celebrate the Spring Festival, there are still many new cars that are undergoing winter testing.
★ Alfa Romeo Tonale
The second "Love Fast" SUV is ready
Although it's less than a week away from being officially released, Testing of Tonale is still ongoing. The car's name ,"Tonale" is the Equivalent of "Tonal" in English, which is the "tone", "hue" or "tonality" of the Chinese, suggesting that the SUV will continue to carry forward the brand's unique personality.
The most recent photos were also taken in the snow and ice of Northern Europe, with one photo even showing the centre console, while others show passengers in the back seat greeting us with friendly gestures. We thought he might not be very comfortable in the rear seat of the car, as it was a compact SUV with a wheelbase of only 2.64 meters. According to current speculation, Tonale will share a 243-horsepower 1.3T plug-in hybrid system with a pure electric range of about 50 kilometers, and may also be equipped with a 1.6T plug-in hybrid system from the PSA, which can reach 305 horsepower. The answer will be revealed on February 8th.
★ Mercedes-Benz G-Class revamp
The regular version appears for the first time
At the end of last year, we first found the mid-term modification test car of the "Big G", but the test car at that time came in the form of the AMG G63. Recently we saw the regular version of the test car, which was being tested in Sweden in the winter and was alertly captured by photographers during the brief period of refueling.
The regular G-Class test car, like the AMG version, camouflages both the head and tail ends. The exterior changes are mainly focused on the bumpers and grilles, while the design of the lights seems to have changed little. Compared with the appearance of the lute, the cab of the test car is more thoroughly covered, making us wonder if the interior of this car should be more than just changing the steering wheel style, will it finally adopt the MBUX system?
For the powertrain after the G-class minor makeover, we don't currently get the news that it will be improved, and the test car in the photo has neither a hybrid logo nor a charging socket, which seems to confirm this. Considering that Mercedes-Benz is developing a purely electric EQG, the hybrid version is really not necessary. At the current pace, the G-level makeover should come shortly before EQG launches, at the end of this year or early next year.
★ Mitsubishi L200/Triton
The new pickup is a reminder not to forget the brand
The L200's long history and complexity of naming are definitely countable in the pickup industry: the car born in 1978 has used the names for Forte and Strada in Japan, has always been called Triton in Australia, and in the United States it is sold under the names of Dodge Ram 50 and Plymouth Arrow trucks, while in other countries it is generally called L200, and of course it may also be Rodeo, Colt, Storm, Magnum and L200 Strakar. The test car that appeared in northern Sweden this time is already its sixth generation.
However, there is no sign of it from the appearance of the test car, because it still uses the body of the current L200, and only the chassis is newly developed. From the pictures, the new chassis seems to have a slight increase in wheelbase than the current model, and the wheels and arches do not fit perfectly.
The increasingly marginalized Mitsubishi was assisted by Nissan and Renault in developing the new pickup, so it is possible that new technologies such as plug-ins and hybrids will be introduced. The new L200 is expected to be released next year, so you should see its real body in the second half of the year.
★ Porsche Cayenne revamped
The taillights reveal new details
We've photographed many of Porsche's flagship SUV face-to-face test cars, including the interior and production version of the lights. However, the photos taken in the winter test this time are the clearest ones. Its taillights, in particular, are well worth studying. Even when camouflaged, we can see that the new taillights are longer and almost integrated in the middle section, and the turn signals have adopted a new design.
Previous photos have revealed that the new Cayenne will be equipped with a new LCD instrument cluster, a larger central control screen and an electronic shift lever. As for what powertrain will be equipped with this year's new model, it is not clear, but there should be no major changes, after all, the current several powertrains are already quite advanced and perfect.
★ Fiat UNO
A small car whose identity is enigmatic
Fiat UNO, born in 1983, is also an old friend of ours, and it can be seen everywhere in the city in the 1990s. The model, which has only experienced one generation, became the eighth best-selling platform in history, with a total sales volume of more than 8.8 million. After years of discontinuation in Europe, we finally found that the blood of this car is still continuing.
Fiat, which is currently part of the Stellantis Group, is also reflected in the fact that the test car borrowed the front and rear lights of the Opel Mokka. The car is more likely based on the PSA's CMP platform, the EMP1 platform, which adopts a crossover body design and is likely to re-enable the name UNO (equivalent to "One" in English) – roughly a Fiat version of the Opel Momoka or DS3.
The relentless pursuit of the trendy crossover keeps us optimistic about the car's prospects, and if nothing else, UNO will once again be Fiat's sales champion in the coming years. After its official unveiling next year, it will go into production in Poland to reduce costs. The powertrain is expected to be largely the same as the Mokka and DS3.
