Sensor configuration
The hardware of the second generation of GS8 driver assistance is 5 millimeter wave radars (1 front medium and long range, 4 angle radars), 12 ultrasonic radars, 1 front-view camera, 4 ring car cameras, and also uses a smart driving domain controller (chip information is not announced). Compared with the previous generation, the hardware has 4 more angle radars, and it is believed that the rest of the perception hardware has also changed.
However, I found that the GS8 only has blind spot detection, lane change assist, door opening warning, rear collision warning, rear vehicle pass-through brake assist, rear vehicle travel warning, front vehicle crossing warning, emergency lane keeping, highway automatic lane change assist, automatic parking assist function, some of which involve 4 angle radar. So I guess that except for the fuel top model, the rest of the models use a medium and long-range millimeter wave radar + a front-view camera scheme.

Adaptive cruise test
Test conditions: The test car starts the adaptive cruise function at 80km/h, and sets the following distance to the second compartment. Test conditions: The test vehicle starts the adaptive cruise and lane keeping functions at 80km/h, and then the vehicle passes a curve to test the vehicle's lane-keeping ability at high speed.

Test conditions: The test vehicle opens all driving assistance functions at a speed of 30km/h to test whether there will be warnings or avoidance actions when the vehicle encounters the pile bucket group.
Pedestrian scene recognition and avoidance
The above three items are tests of the driving assistance function of the vehicle, and as a smart car, in addition to helping the driver "drive", it must also help the driver avoid possible traffic accidents. So next we will conduct an obstacle avoidance test on the Trumpchi GS8, that is, we will find some dummies and fake cars to come out and see if the GS8 can brake and avoid in time.
Fixed dummy identification and avoidance
Test conditions: a child dummy is fixed in the middle of the zebra crossing, the test car starts the adaptive cruise at a speed of 50km/h and all the driving assistance functions pass to see if the test car can stop in time in front of the dummy.
Mobile dummy identification and avoidance
Test conditions: An adult dummy will pass the zebra crossing at a speed of 5km/h, and then the test car will turn on the adaptive cruise at a speed of 40km/h and all the driving assistance functions will pass to see if the test car can stop in time in front of the dummy.
Mobile dummy ghost probe identification and evasion
Test conditions: The child dummy crosses the zebra crossing at a speed of 5km/h, and the test vehicle starts cruising at 40km/h and passes all driving assistance functions. Unlike the mobile dummy crossing test, the ghost probe will add a fixed obstacle car to the front side of the zebra crossing, which will form an emergency situation of "ghost probe" when the test vehicle is close to the zebra crossing.
Tunnel fixed obstacle vehicle identification and avoidance
Test conditions: A fixed target vehicle model is placed in the simulated tunnel, and the test vehicle starts cruising at a speed of 50knm/h and all driving assistance functions are close to see if the final test vehicle can avoid the target vehicle. The project of the tunnel fixed target vehicle is actually a simulation of the situation that when entering the tunnel during daily driving, there is a sudden stop in the tunnel. In this case, because the driver has a large contrast in light inside and outside the tunnel, there is a high probability that the car stopped in the tunnel will not be found in time, which will eventually lead to a rear-end accident. If the vehicle's driver assistance system can avoid this type of obstacle car, it will give the occupants an extra guarantee.

The Trumpchi GS8 currently supports L2-level driver assistance functions, which are conventional full-speed domain cruise, lane keeping and other functions. In fact, in the high-speed road test, the acceleration and deceleration of the car and the centering of the lane performed normally, and there was no obvious non-linearity of acceleration and deceleration or the loss of lane centering.
However, the GS8 set of driving assistance also inherits some shortcomings of the traditional driving assistance system: when the large truck in the front is slowly plugged or paralleled, the recognition of the cruise system is relatively slow, and if it is 120km./h cruising, there is a probability of safety accidents. This performance actually corresponds to the test performance of the front closed site target vehicle emergency plugging, our target vehicle emergency plugging is to use a car to merge the line, and the process of paralleling the line is relatively fast, so that the GS8 cruise system can identify the deceleration in time after the body enters the lane. However, if it is a large truck slowly paralleling, it may take a little time for the body to cross the lane line, and the cruise system will most likely not be able to recognize the congestion of the vehicle during this time, and if the driver does not slow down in time, it may cause an accident.
Here again, drivers are advised, even if their cars have driver assistance systems, do not completely lower their attention, cruise systems and AEB systems can not guarantee to avoid all safety risks.
Incidentally, to add a little knowledge, the fundamental difference between what we call L2 and L3 level driver assistance is whether the driver is the main body or the machine when the function is activated and who is responsible for the accident. L2 level of driving assistance is still mainly people, the system is only auxiliary, accidents are also the responsibility of the driver, and even if it is L2.99999, it is also the driver's pot. In the limited driving assistance scenario, the L3 level is the theme of the machine, and the manufacturer needs to bear the responsibility for the accident during the system activation process.

Voice interaction
Voice interaction is an important part of the degree of cockpit intelligence, and its semantic recognition ability, reaction speed, pickup accuracy, control authority, etc. all determine whether the whole system is intelligent enough. The Trumpchi GS8 can wake up the voice function by shouting "Hello, Xiao qi", and it supports a certain long wake-free communication function.
Trumpchi GS8 voice system has more controllable functions, and it can basically be done without moving during driving. The recognition speed and reaction speed of the speech system are also very fast. Basically, we test these instructions can be easily completed. However, if the network signal is not good, the corresponding result may be a little delayed to come out.
If the voice search engine of the Trumpchi GS8 is set to Mandarin, only one speech correction instruction can be recognized. If you set the search engine to Cantonese, you can recognize all three sentences.
Trumpchi GS8 can correctly identify the navigation class and air conditioning class related statements, and individual navigation instructions can be executed in another way. However, like some cross-command functions, Trumpchi GS8 can only recognize one sentence.
Intelligent advanced functions
After looking at the surface texture and internal functions of the car machine, we put forward higher level requirements for the smart cockpit, involving some functions that are more in-depth with the car life, such as remote control of the vehicle, personalized memory, online updates and interesting small functions.
In addition to the intelligent perception function, scene mode, etc., the car is also equipped with KTV function, and as long as it is bound to the mobile phone app, it can remotely control the vehicle, including vehicle unlocking and turning on the air conditioner.

Trumpchi GS8's score in the performance part is not high, due to the large size, so it is reasonable to get a low score for some extreme control items. The rest of the performance like acceleration, braking and noise tests are worthy of themselves, and it is important to know that the owner of this car has a large space and fuel economy.

The brake foot feeling of the Trumpchi GS8 is similar to that of the Toyota Dual Engine model, that is, the void position in the front section of the brake pedal is relatively large, so you need to step deeper to have a more obvious braking force, and the body has a large inertia, which will give people an illusion that it cannot be stopped. The purpose of the elk test is to test the vehicle's ability to avoid danger, test the vehicle suspension and dynamic adjustment skills. In our elk test, the default electronic system state is turned on (not manually turned off ESP, etc.) to restore the daily car situation as much as possible.
Winding test
In the pile winding experience project, our standard is not to pursue the limit, but to uniformly choose to pass at 60km/h at constant speed, focusing on observing their continuous change of direction body attitude and body controllability, so that we can more objectively examine the suspension performance of the vehicle.
Noise test
Come to the interior noise test, the test is the vehicle's sound insulation ability. In addition to testing the in-car noise values under the traditional idle, 60km/h cruise, 90km/h cruising and 120km/h cruising states, the noise outside the car is also recorded and compared with the in-car noise values in the idle state.

In the end, the Trumpchi GS8 scored 150, ranking 38th in the ICT-300 list. For trumpchi GS8 itself, in fact, progress and improvement can be seen, cost performance and practicality can really play, independent brands are good at smart cockpit GS8 can also play well. It's just that to our surprise, the dummy circumvented three tests, and the GS8 actually failed, which is not what a traditional brand car company should look like. In addition, due to the model reasons, I was not able to experience the top of the fuel version with the most complete configuration of the GS8, which is also a bit of a pity, after all, the top configuration of the fuel version has more abundant driving assistance functions such as automatic parking and light lane change.
