Mao Ge Daily Poems [722]

Four Sentences of the First Entry into the Huai River (Part 4)

Song Yang Wanli

Zhongyuan Father Mo Kong talked,

The king complained.

But Guihong can't speak,

Once a year to Gangnam.

In the sixteenth year of Chunxi (1189), in the month of La, the Jin people sent emissaries to the Southern Song Dynasty to celebrate the New Year, and Yang Wanli was ordered to greet the emissaries of the Jin Dynasty, crossing the Huai River is the hinterland of the former Northern Song Dynasty, but now it belongs to the Jin Kingdom, and four poems are written because of the sadness of touching the scenery. This is the fourth track.

The first two sentences of the poem say that zhongyuan fathers and elders met the emissaries of the Song dynasty court and told them about the pain of not being able to bear the oppression of the Jin Dynasty. The last two sentences express the nostalgia of the remnants for their homeland by envying the wild geese who can fly south.

The people of the Central Plains longed for the reunification of the motherland, but the Southern Song Court was in a quiet corner, and the sound of the strings here was sadness and dissatisfaction with the small court of the Southern Song Dynasty.
