According to foreign media reports, Mercedes-Benz is preparing a brand new electric car that will compete with the Tesla Model 3. At the same time, a rendering of the new car was also exposed on the Internet, as shown in the image below, which looks like a small Mercedes-Benz EQS. And the name EQC may be adopted, which will be unveiled in 2024.
Speaking of EQC, you may think that this is Mercedes-Benz's first pure electric SUV, which debuted in 2018 and began to be sold in Europe in 2019. However, the model did not meet the company's expectations: during 2020, dealers sold 14,645 cars, with growth in 2021: between January and November 2021, Mercedes Sold 15,804 EQCs (up 35.3% from the previous 11 months).
Foreign media believe that EQC's relatively poor sales performance will force Mercedes-Benz to abandon the development and production of second-generation models. In the future, Mercedes-Benz plans to enter the market with the EQC only as a sedan. The electric sedan will enter the European market in 2024. Of course, so far, Mercedes-Benz has not released official information about what the car will look like. Therefore, the artists drew renderings of the Mercedes-Benz EQC sedan according to their own imaginations.
From the rendering, the design of the new EQC battery sedan will be influenced by the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX concept car. It was featured at CES 2022 in Las Vegas earlier this month. It's actually a C-Class sedan. It is based on the MMA platform (Mercedes Modular Architecture), and it is expected that the electric model will use rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive systems, and may also be equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving technology.
The appearance is completely different from the current EQC SUV, the body adopts a flat design, it looks a bit like a Mercedes-Benz EQS electric sedan, the front face adopts a closed grille design, the headlights and LED daytime running lights run through the entire front of the car, forming a light strip on the front of the car, the headlights on both sides are slender and large, and the black surround is used under the bumper. The entire nose styling is very similar to the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX concept.
