Mercedes-Benz significantly accelerated the layout of pure electric models last year, EQS has been listed in China for more than a month, and the EQS SUV that was previously exposed overseas has also recently come to China for road tests.
The new car will be produced with the EQE SUV at the Tuscaloosa plant in the United States and will be officially released within the year.

Compared with the EQB and EQA that Mercedes-Benz launched last year, this EQS SUV has a lot of idioms, because it will be based on Mercedes-Benz's new EVA electrification platform, the same as EQS.
As a Mercedes-Benz flagship SUV, the appearance of the new car is not as domineering as GLS, but follows the rounded shape of the EQ family, and the overall low wind resistance is the priority, and the future mass production version is believed to be matched with low wind resistance wheels.
Because the EQS SUV is rounded, it seems to be smaller than the square GLS. However, the EQS body length of the reference platform is 5227mm, and the wheelbase reaches 3210mm, which is not much different from the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and it can be speculated that the body size of the EQS SUV will be similar to the GLS.
The closed mid-mesh is still integrated with the triangular headlights, and the slender taillights are also one of the characteristics of the EQ family. I wonder if new cars will continue to use frameless doors on EQS?
Although the test vehicle is covered in heavy camouflage, the new car will look similar to the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV concept released last year, except that the Maybach will be more refined in detail.
In terms of interior, the EQS SUV is equipped with hyperscreen super-screen on the EQS, using curved screen OLED technology. The 12.3-inch screen for the gauge and co-pilot, the 17.7-inch central control screen, and the three screens completely replace the physical buttons, which is a highlight of Mercedes-Benz's flagship new car.
The system is equipped with NVIDIA Xavier AI chips, an 8-core CPU and 24GB of memory to learn the driver's car habits.
Electric vehicles need to arrange batteries in the chassis, which will encroach on the longitudinal space in the car, resulting in the seat being properly raised, but the SUV has a high enough space in the car, so it is often more reasonable than the sitting posture of the car in terms of riding comfort, which will be the advantage of the new car over the EQS.
In terms of power, with reference to the EQS of the same platform, the new car is expected to have two drive forms: rear-drive single motor and four-wheel drive dual motor. The former has a maximum power of 333Ps and a peak torque of 550 Nm on the EQS, while the latter reaches 517 Ps with a torque of 828 Nm and a maximum endurance of 849 km.
Given the wind resistance and weight of the EQS SUV, it is expected to have a range of more than 600km.
This may have battery life anxiety for an SUV, but the EQS can support a maximum of 200kW fast charging, and it can last 300 kilometers after 15 minutes of charging. There is no doubt that new cars will also have such charging speeds, and Mercedes-Benz promises to provide more than 30,000 charging piles in China and North America by 2025.
