WhatsApp desktop is testing a Win11 style smooth design interface

IT House January 19 news, according to Neowin reported back in November 2021, we learned that WhatsApp is developing a new desktop application, available through the Microsoft Store. At the time, it was reported that the app was based on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP), not Electron, and also packaged with e-ink and multi-device support. It now appears that development teams are moving to WinUI 2.6 and later to take advantage of the fluid design elements in Windows 11.

The discovery was made by Windows whistleblower FireCube, who noticed the difference between the old and new versions of the WhatsApp Beta app.

The WhatsApp Beta app's revamp for Windows 11 is definitely underway. IT House learns that you'll notice round radio buttons, drop-down menus, and more elements that conform to the Windows 11 design language. That said, this is definitely a work in progress, and there are still some UI elements that don't align with Windows 11, but since this is a beta version, it's understandable.

The Beta version of WhatsApp downloaded from the Microsoft Store can be used on both Windows 10 and Windows 11, but users will need to join the beta version for multi-device support before they can continue to use it.
